ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Reverting to the 3.06.17 version worked for me with the config file used with the new buggy release version.
I'm fine with the new version(s) since pre-patch. Pretty sure your problem is unique to your setup. Everyone else is okay. Try renaming your backup file as the working file. That fixes addon problems usually.
specify the problem youre having, preferably open a ticket because trying to find new posts on here is almost impossible
Ok I dont know why but my character Bags background, not bank or guild, has turned bright white and i cant change it. no matter what character or what server. I have tried going to Config and changing it but no luck. I have uninstalled the Addon and the Saved Variables in the WTF folder and then reinstalled the Addon with no luck. Is there something Im missing
Since 3.07.03 or the one before, herbalism and mining categories don't work well...
Worse, when I restack everything is messed up ! :(
Since the last update I can open vendors and the bank but still can't open the mailbox.
can you send (email) me your arkinventory.lua saved variables file, and a character name that you get the issue with and ill see if i can reproduce it
Since the last update, every time I try to use a toy from the blizz collection window, I get a message that Arkinventory has been blocked from an action only available for the Blizz UI. Any way to fix that?
no, using a toy is a secure action which i cant do. i thought i had blocked clicks, all you can do is drag it to your action bar.
oh, from the blizzard collection - nope, i dont get that happening, so possible another mod. disable arkinventory and try it again, see which mod it blames (its probably going to blame which mod loads the ace libraries first)
I made profiles for all my chars.
When I change something in one profile, it is changed in all profiles.
For example: I make a catagory for profs, so all items go into one bar so to speak.
BOOM: all chars have that prof assigned to that bar. So every time I log a character I need to change it.
Am I doing something wrong here?
if you use the same style, layout, and category set for each profile, then you may as well just have one profile.
make a new (if needed) style, layout or category set, depending on what you need to change for each character, and then make sure that characters profile use it in the control options.
I use different setting for all my chars, hence why I work with different profiles.
But when I change something (like where I would want the profession items to go) it changes that on all characters, not just the one where I changed it. I made sure all characters have their own profile loaded/used, I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.
Great, I can open my backpack now in the latest version, unfortunately now I cant open all my bank bags by shift clicking the backpack twice. I have to open every bag individually :(
when did shift clicking on your backpack twice start doing something? everything in wow is a single click action?
oh i see, shift clicking on the backback is the equivalent of toggleallabags, so the first click closes the ai bag window then doing it again opens the ai bag and all the bank bags
i've rewritten the code for that function, it should now work when you dont use ai for the bags and bank
Hey! I just wanted to say that I've seen a lot of bugs vanish in just a handful of days since launch. That's pretty damn awesome. You're a fantastic developer.
Arkayenro
I would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for the efforts you put in to creating and updating this addon. It is clearly a lot of work, and your responsiveness to our 'requests' is greatly appreciated. The under-appreciated work all you addon creators do to improve our WoW experience is fantastic and as an older person I envy the skills you have.
Again, thank you!
I've been having this problem for a few days now: It seems that no matter what I do, arkinventory won't load all my assigned categories and bars to any of the new characters I make. I've tried logging back and forth, copying my main settings to the new character's named profile etc, but all to no avail...
Try going into the settings of that character, the settings for the individual bags, and change the "1000 Default" or whatever is set there to any other "default" option listed, or if it lists specific bag types, pick the correct one.
That seems to have done it, thanks!
Thanks for the latest patch, but something still isn't right and I had to revert again.
First it reset all my bags. I had to set them all back to default 1001 or whatever it is to make them use my established layout. Then I noticed that there are empty spaces showing that in actuality have items in them.
