ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
theres a new items category, you can set the timer for that (how long an item will be seen as new) in the config
Is there anyway to setup a "Do NOT sell" list things like fishing gear, Engineering gear, hearthstone, ETC.
Even if you try to sell to vendor a warning pop up asking your sure? (not a game changer if just will not sell if its on the crearted list)
so many times i have sold fishing gear, engineering trinkets or toys.
Socks
there isnt an explicit do not sell list, not sure if ill add one or not yet, only because you can just assign them to a custom category of your own (that isnt set to autosell) - mines called "important" - so its not something ive spent any time on.
i also hadnt even thought of an explicit list that would also block manually selling items, ie prompting when tried to sell to a vendor (and possibly trade)
In reply to Arkayenro:
Thanks for the reply Arkayenro. could be a useful addition. (just saying) /wink
the broker tracking currency occasionally has no text showing - - picking and unpicking a currency fixes this. not sure what's causing it.
ive seen it squish it all up but just moving the cursor out and back over generates it properly.
i havent seen it not generate any text at all though. if the icons for all the currencies show then so should the text (im presuming you have show in text enabled for each one or it would never show at all)
does the title display?
In reply to Arkayenro:
No, the only icon is the icon for the currency tracker itself. No text displays. I'm using ChocolateBar if that matters.
Here's a screenshot:
Normally that goes away as the addon loads, but sometimes it gets stuck and I have to right click into the menu and display / undisplay any currency for it to show up.
I haven't been able to get a reproducible set of steps though -- it seems to happen intermittently.
have you definitely ticked the option to display the text, and not just the tooltip, for each one of them you want displayed? ie mouse over an entry and make sure both tooltip and text are ticked
it was broken up a while back so you could pick if you wanted tooltip or text displayed for each entry
In reply to Arkayenro:
i haven't seen the issue in the last few days, not sure what made it go away :-/
In reply to Arkayenro:
Still randomly encountering this issue, tried everything to sort it :(
can you open an issue for this, its easier to find and reply there.
if you havent already you may want to install bugsack and !buggrabber just in case there is an error being generated
In reply to alcaras:
I also intermittently have this issue, but only with two toons, a Lvl 60 pally and Shammy. I have to select and un-select to get it to show but on reload or relog it's gone again. Was just coming here to post and saw this ticket, so thought I'd add to it. I'm using Statblock for LDB display.
hello, how can i hide the empty slot ? i know the option exists but i don't find it.
you can either hide the empty slot categories
or set the maximum empty slot to 1-5 via config > settings > design > your design> items > empty slots > stack limit
thanx :)
Is there a way to replicate the "Skills->[something]" default categories as a rule? I am guessing I need to do it because categories are being processed after the rules and I have some things that were properly gathered by a set of Skill->... categories that are now being swept up into a rule I just created.
you could try the PT() rule function, use the debug menu to work out which pt groups the items are in. this is one of the few functions that is case sensitive so be careful with the group names.
items are allocated by hard/custom category > rule > default category, so you can hard assign the same (as the default) skill based category to the items that the rule was picking up that way they end up back under the category and not the rule
When I deposit outfit armor and weapon into the bank, some go straight into the Outfit Bar, which uses the Outfits Rule. But, others go into the Armor Bar. If, I put the armor into an empty bag slot, then Refresh, they then move into the Armor Bar.
Any ideas or suggestions ?
Rule: Armor Order: 350
(type("Armor")) and not name("fish") and not name("Highpeak Shield") and not tt("follower") and not quality("poor") and not outfit( "Retribution", "Protection", "Beast Mastery", "Marksmanship", "Havoc", "Vengeance", "Holy", "Elemental", "Restoration", "Survival", "Frost", "Enhancement" )
Rule: Outfits Order: 1
outfit( "Retribution", "Protection", "Beast Mastery", "Marksmanship", "Havoc", "Vengeance", "Holy", "Elemental", "Restoration", "Survival", "Frost", "Enhancement", "Fishing", "DPS" )
what (addon or blizzard) are you using for outfit management?
In reply to Arkayenro:
I create the outfits through the Blizzard interface with "Ask Mr Robot" addon creating a Best In Bags...Just so odd. I thought my rules are wrong...
Thanks
