ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Can you please make this work with 1.12? I need it <3 I love this addon, saves me so much time.
I have tried all these versions with 'vanilla wow' and none work even with the load out of date option checked:
ArkInventory-r58109.1
ArkInventory-r58109-nolib
ArkInventory-r58109
3.09.38-Classic
3.09.38-Classic-nolib
in what way doesnt it work in classic?
and where are you getting the r58109 versions from? curse is at 1000ish and my own internal svn is at around 3000ish
The very latest update caused the following errors and repeats over and over:
9x ArkInventory\ArkInventoryTranslate.lua:382: attempt to index field 'db' (a nil value)
ArkInventory\ArkInventoryTranslate.lua:382: in function <ArkInventory\ArkInventoryTranslate.lua:362>
and this:
2x ArkInventory\ArkInventory-30937.lua:985: attempt to index global 'C_CVar' (a nil value)
ArkInventory\ArkInventory-30937.lua:985: in main chunk
Locals:
ad nauseum ...
In fact, there are like 12 separate errors and I can't post them because they keep recurring over and over and I can't cut/paste them.
Do you want me to create an issues ticket or is this enough for now?
no its fine.i figured out it was classic, be fixed in a bit
fixed in 3.09.38 classic

got this message earlier :
[18:22:55] ArkInventory: WARNING> Code Error: A function named TooltipGetHyperlinkFromSetTradeTargetItem needs to be created to allow item counts to update for this object type. Please let the author know. The warning for this function will occur once per session.
thanks, should be fixed next release
Getting "ArkInventory: onenter: ItemRefTooltip" spam since last update
will be gone in the next release
Since today's update: every time I click on a menu the menu closes before I can click on anything.
try it with just AI loaded, just in case, and which menu(s) in particular?
In reply to Arkayenro:
No, just I tried to take AI away which made it work for me. The menus were right-clicking portrait and the magnifier; it's also problem with filter-menus (no right-clicking, just clicking). I loaded an earlier version (august) of AI and that worked. Day after I updated AI and had to go back to earlier version.
After reading your message I tried to load ONLY AI - and now everything works (even after loading my other addons). Only the gods know what that was about.
Edit: No, stopped working. I did as before, loaded only AI (worked), loaded my other addons and it stopped working. So - an interference between AI and some other addon. I go back to earlier version of AI and go back searching at later date.
I just logged into to my account and while my rules are still there/defined, all my bar settings are gone. Everything is in the default 'Bar 1' group. Any idea how this would happen or how to fix it? I may have some old copies of the LUA that I can pull data from that are about 8 months old. I haven't change any settings within the app in a good while.
Can you offer some guidance on how I may be able to fix the LUA file?
** I looked at the LUA file and I do see the bar names defined under the "bar" / "data" fields. So, it's in the text file, but just not showing up in the game.
** I'm running ArkInventory-3.09.35
if you dont have a backup then close the game and make a backup of the ArkInventory.lua file, then rename the ArkInventory.lua.bak file to just ArkInventory.lua and see if that one works.
if that one doesnt work and you dont have a backup you can email me (address should be in my profile, or use the private message function) the original lua file and i'll try to pull the config data out of it
In reply to Arkayenro:
The .bak file was no good. It looks like a new .bak file is created every time I log in. I had already logged in/out multiple times to see if that would fix the issue and overwrote the .bak file. If that's the case and you're taking feature request, it may be more helpful to have date check and never let any 2 backups be less than 24 hours apart; or get fancy have 2 backups (one >24 hours, and one >at logon)
However, I think I managed to fix it by looking at a backup file I found from 2 months ago. I don't fully understand the .lua syntax, so I'm going to butcher some terms here, but it looks like what happened was that the "global"/"option"/"Profile"/"data"/"1001"/"location" group got largely overwritten. It went from nearly 150 lines of code, down to 30. It looks like this section of code helps define the Bar group's parameters.
I short, I removed the suspect 30 lines of code and replaced it with the 150 lines of code found in my old backup. Hopefully I didn't cause any corruption that will surface later.
Thinking back, the only thing I did out of the ordinary around the time this occurred was that I used the curse client to install an addon. Typically, I exit WoW completely before downloading any addons, but didn't this time. The addon was either Leatrix Maps or TomTom. It was around 1am, so my memory is a little fuzzy.
It would be great if it was possible to group Anima items once Shadowlands launches.
Also Queens Conservatory (Night Fae) items are good being grouped. I"m not sure if there are other covenant items that could be grouped.
I need to check, but when I loaded it up yesterday, it had lost the category for System: Equipment: Soulbound
the consumable > anima category is there already but only displays in the shadowlands beta (possibly the PTR as well), it should automatically pick up anything with anima
if you do find something that isnt picked up please open a ticket and let me know the short id (edit mode, click on item > debug > short id) so i can add it
you may have checked a bar it was already assigned to as it wont show up in that case (no point giving you an entry for something thats already assigned to the bar youre in)
Hi, I've suddenly been enjoying an FPS cap of 30 out of nowhere and thanks to some long troubleshooting I've identified that it's caused by running ArkInventory and "Better Transmog and Wardrobe" together. Disabling either and the problem vanishes, but yeah, you guys don't like each other much!
if possible could you try one of the latest alphas? i've rebuilt the tooltip refresh code and it might help
In reply to Arkayenro:
Ta. Tried the alpha. An update was also pushed from Better Wardrobe. With those changes in place, getting about 80 fps with either/both ArkInventory and BetterWardrobe on. Turning both off and it's pretty much the same. I don't know why this is 20fps slower than it was last night - haven't made any other changes - but still, plays OK so *shrug*.
BTW Using the Arkinventory alpha I got lots of error messages when opening bags (or opening a bag slot in guild) eg
ArkInventory:TEMP.1 tooltip not ready:[ITEMNAME]
ArkInventory:TEMP.2 tooltip not ready:[SAMEITEMNAME]
or just lots of these after re-enabling:
ArkInventory:TEMP.1 tooltip not ready:[]
