ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
thats what the r667 alpha does, only calculates the window if its open, or needs to be initialised (like at game load)
Put back Bags & Bank to "Instant" with the last version and no issue so far :)
Thanks for the fix.
Not sure but It also seems that the refresh is smoother (less flickering). Perhaps due to the lower number of thread running in background.
Oh my. Last night, I restarted my PC. I guess the curse(twitch) clients started back up and auto-updated my Arkinventory. I've spent hours trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC and/or what addon was jacking it up... and this was it.
Like others that have posed in the last few days, I'm getting constant freezing and struggling FPS.
I restored my interface/addons/ark folders to a few days ago and it's working great again... with Twitch's auto-update turned off now.
Just FYI, I cant play wow without this addon. This is the single most important addon I use. Ty very much for your time and ingenuity.
Hi,
I'm getting the same stuttering and flickering in the game as DSV1968, also turned all other addons off and found it definitely is ArkInventory making the FPS drop.
I used the WoW FPS tracker (Ctrl+R) and saw that it really dropped (from ~160fps to 24fps) when I was selling to a vendor - I sold a [Tabard of the Kirin Tor] and got this:

I got almost exactly the same errors (only very minor ms value changes) when:
* =
The initial log in also has these errors:
p2-scan-heirloom starting
p2-scan-toybox starting
p2-scan-mount starting
p2-scan-heirloom dead after 1.99ms (1.99ms)
p2-scan-toybox dead after 6.15ms (6.15ms)
p2-scan-mount dead after 3.56ms (3.56ms)
Note: I don't use ArkInventory for my battle pets/companion pets usually, but also p2-scan-pet starts, suspends, and dies similar to the above on initial load.
I've only been having problems since the latest patch, before that I've had very few problems.
Not sure if it makes a difference at all, but I've tested on both an Alliance and a Horde character on different EU servers and got the same results.
I hope the info helps in some way, and hopefully it's a fairly simple fix for you.
Thanks.
I also opened my bags and got the error lines:
[ON INITIAL LOAD]
ArkInventory: THREAD> p4-draw-1 starting
ArkInventory: THREAD> p4-draw-1 suspended after 19.56ms (19.56ms)
ArkInventory: THREAD> p4-draw-1 dead after 3.93ms (23.49ms)
[SUBSEQUENT LOADS]
ArkInventory: THREAD> p4-draw-1 starting
ArkInventory: THREAD> p4-draw-1 dead after 1.08ms (1.08ms)
Similar problems. Just absolutely destroying resources. Been using ArkInv for years, and twice during Legion I've had to turn it off, but this is the worst it's ever been.
try the r667 alpha, see if that helps
I tried the R667 alpha, doesn't even load when installed.
try deleting the ai folders and reinstalling it
After updating -- freezes and spam 3-5 times in minute to chat
[03:16:17] ArkInventory: Error> ...\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryCollectionMount.lua:78: attempt to index local 'obj' (a nil value)
But error only on Horde. Aliance -- only flickering and freezes.
try the r666 alpha, should either fix it or push it to another error
i cant duplicate it on my machine at the moment so not sure whats causing it
Hi
After the update I am getting stuttering and flickering in the game. Its definitely Ark that's doing it as I have turned all addons off and with just ark on it does it.
Theres is an issue with the patch. I have tried setting the bag sorting and opening etc to max and it makes no difference
I have never had any problems before the latest patch, really like the addon so is there a fis coming ?
Thanks
Been having some issues since last night as well, to the point where I thought I had some program with memleak etc. Seems to have stopped when I disabled ArkInventory, but I'm 100% sure if it's my mind thinking it stopped, or if it actually did.
it should only stutter when logging in and at the first open of each window type
go into config > workarounds and enable thread debugging
then wait for the stuttering and see if the debug output lines up with it. the debug should also tell you what type of thread was running
when you have the data open a ticket
would it be possible to add an auto repair feature to the auto sell feature
it might be, i never really thought about it before
The last update I think has completely solved AI breaking when zone changing in combat (script ran too long errors), something that's frustrated me since MoP. No other addon could match the rule customization AI can do so I stuck with it, but now its perfect. Thanks for updates!
In the config, there is a setting for assigning new items to a slot (System -> New). However after "restack" is pressed, every items becomes "news" and got assigned to this new slot. Is there way to stop "restack" from doing that?
maybe, id have to rely entirely on blizzard flagging the items as new, which is probably ok now
Is there any way to modify the item level text position?
