ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Are herbs/mining broken? Since the last update a few days ago, my herbs and rocks are lumped in with crafting reagents, when they're supposed to be in separate boxes.
I do have separate trade goods->herb and mining assignments set up, but today they're not being followed. This was fine at least a couple of days ago.
Debug shows that the item should be Trade Goods->Herb, and if I turn my Crafting Reagents rule off, the herbs still don't go where they belong.
EDIT: I figured it out. The debug menu helped with my rule. I had subtype herbalism instead of herb.
I was experiencing this same issue on one of my PCs/ WoW installs and rolled back versions...Your correction to the proper sub-type fixed it for me too.
Thanks
Updated today and all my category settings are gone. Again. And this time it looks like they may be 'gone' and not 'toggled off'. Profile 1001 which I've been using, which contained all the settings from before the configuration got bizarre, is missing; just the 1000 and 9999 Defaults left in all there 'gigantic unsorted blob' glory.
It also now refuses to save any changes, so I couldn't fix it if I were willing to.
I updated 4 days ago and today all my category Settings are gone :/ Since 7.0 arkinventory is really bugged :-(
I'm trying to come up with a rule for splitting out all the pick-pocketing loot that I get with my rogue. The debug menu shows these items as....
Type: 15 - Miscellaneous
Subtype: Other
Can anybody help with setting up a rule for this. Thx
custom rule tt("Pickpocketing") works, can also make a custom category and assign each item type.. not sure which one works fastest processing wise.
Love love love the addon. The new layout system is taking some getting used to. I cannot for the life of me find an easy way to assign a single rule to a single bar. For example, I always use a solitary bar for set gear using the rule outfit(). I can see that each bar has a Rule menu, but enabling and disabling rules seem to affect all bars in a particular bag.
How do I assign a single rule to a single bar easily? Thanks!
I figured it out finally! You have to click the actual sub-menu name itself (eg. [0002] Set Gear) instead of driving down one menu deeper to the Enable/Disable part.
Then you select item stacks 1 it stacks all the potions to one stack even if you have 5 stacks.
That is working OK, you see one stack of potions but text shows only 20 not the amount of potions you have total. That is a bit annoying that you now need to mouseover to check tooltip
that option just displays the first x number of stacks of a particular item - its not combining them, which is why the item count is not totalled
is there any way to combine them ?
i have noticed with the updates that if you click restack all your items come together now as one the only way i have found to get this back is to reload your UI but when im combat ect like the invasions that can be a bit hard to do saftly
sounds like you have the new items option enabled (its the only thing that would do that after a restack). if you dont need "new" items in their own bar then turn it off
I'm getting these messages in chat when ever I login on any toon ...

... after which my bag sorting is broken. I've tried completely uninstalling and deleting all associated arkinventory files before reinstalling but nothing helps.
ive swapped the translations for those from using an item to a spell (several actually) in the next version so hopefully it will be able to grab the text
Waiting for the next version then. It still does this at every login, and also when I open bank. Currently this addon is broken for me due to this error as it breaks the sorting and causes higher than normal memory usage. I would've thought a fresh install of the addon would've fixed it but no luck.
I'm not sure what happened, but that last update is making the incorrect images appear on the items in my bags. Happened right after the upgrade.
Edit: Logging out and logging back end seems to have fixed the problem. I will update this note (or the issues page) if I see it again.
i have used this addon for like almost ten years but i have yet to find out how to back up the layout data so when i reinstall wow i can not have to spend ten hours resetting it all back up any help would be much appreciated a private message is fine but ill try and check back here in a few days to see if there is any response
the ai sv file is located at ...\World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
youre probably better off backing up your entire WTF folder, that way you get the configs for all the mods you use along with the games setup
