ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
read the about section above, the info about beta versions, in that directory wow creates an auto backup with a .bak extension, if your data is gone then delete the arkinventory.lua file and rename the .bak to .lua log in and then erase all character data then log in with each toon to re-create it
backup of the wtf folder every now and then so you have backups for all your mods configs
you'll have to post the whole alert/bug message otherwise i cant tell what the issue might be. is it text in your chat window or an alert prompt of some sort?
Hello! I keep getting the Alert/Bug message, but it doesn't ever tell me what bug got fixed. I've had it happen on refreshing, going into edit mode, opening bags, and all sorts of other things. I wish I could report more, but all I have is the message. :(
change the bar anchor point to top right so they start there
you dont, custom categories are just buckets (that have a higher priority than rules) to put items into (usually for groups of items you cant create a single rule for)
yes, just assign them to the bar. if you mean sorting them that way then create a sort method that includes category and apply it to that bar so that the items in there are sorted that way
i will look into it but it sounds like a lot of work so i wouldnt expect it any time soon
Hi,
I have just come back to WoW after a long absence, and am trying to setup ArkInventory again but can't remember some things...
1) I am pretty sure the bars in the bags can be shown ascending from 1, but are being shown descending.
2) How do you add rules to custom categories. It is not explained in the wiki.
3) Is it possible with the bars, to show one main category (eg. Food) then have subgroups for each food type (eg. Basic, Buff, etc...)
Also. as a bit on an enhancement to the rules... instead of having to manually type the rule, could you perhaps add dropdown menus... like in baggins...
1) System Category, Custom Category, Periodic Table
2) depending on above selection, show either the main (top level) categories or elements
3) show the seond level categories or elements
4) add conditions (eg. if, then, else, and, or)
5) repeat... so multiple filters can be applied with one rule.
I've been having an issue lately with some items not being sorted correctly per the rules. Mostly it's been any green quality tradeskill items, which are staying in my general inventory, and not going into "bag" 3 with the rest of the tradeskill items. However, now on my monk, some of his gear isn't going into "bag" 5, with the rest of the gear. Right now he's in DPS spec, and both rings, both trinkets, and shoulders for my healing set are in the main bag, while the rest of his healing gear is in "bag" 5.
Any idea why this is happening, and how I can fix it?
go into edit mode and click on the item thats in the wrong spot, it will say what its assignment is.
if its been assigned to a ssytem category then just click on the default assignment text and it will revert back to default and a rule can then pick it up
if its assigned to another rule then you may need to re-arrange the rule order numbers so the item is picked up by the other rule first
Ahh, sweet, that's it. I created a rule (that I completely forgot about) for uncommon items, but I ended up not even using it. I'll just delete the rule and be set. Thanks for the reply!
just a heads up that i will be uploading beta versions for the warlords expansion soon, so if your curse client is set to download alphas/betas of arkinventory then it might not be a good idea as these versions wont be compatible with the live servers.
i will try to code in an abort if its loaded on a live server if i can.
Thank you!
Hi i am having an issue with my bags the stacks and number of items are dissapearing and only the icon is showing. lets see i have 7 red gems. The icon of the red gem appear but the number 7 in the corner is not showing. I always have to reload UI.
PS: I am using ElvUi. Any help ? Thank you for the great addon
the /run print( GetLocale( ) ) gives = enUS
the /run print( GetCVar("portal") ) give = EU
could someone on an EU based server using english as their language run the following commands for me please
/run print( GetLocale( ) )
and
/run print( GetCVar("portal") )
i need to know if the first one returns enGB and the seconds returns EU
I did this on EU as asked and I got the following to each;
/run print( GetLocale( ) ) this one gave me enUS
/run print( GetCVar("portal") ) this one gave me EU
English is my language and this is what i got hope it helps with what you asked.
thanks, at least that works so i can use that to determine which set of connected realms should be applied
theres an alpha version r430 up that has the item and gold tooltip counts changed along with cross realm support, do you want to take a look and see if that looks ok
Sorry for the delayed response. All of the new crossrealm/faction features work great. Thanks a lot for your work on this addon. I'll let you know if I encounter any problems.
Is there a way to change this back to the way it use to be so I can see all characters (including cross faction) gold on a realm without switching characters? Also is it possible to show gold across all characters?
its still the same as it was before, the only difference is that if you switch to looking at a toons data from another realm it will show the gold for all toons on that realm instead of your current realm
totals, no, only for each realm
connected realms arent catered for at the moment
Thanks for the response. I just edited my comment to reflect the fact that I was looking to see all character including cross faction before I saw your response. As it is right now, I will see all horde while on a horde character and all alliance while on an alliance character on the same realm.
