ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
theres no actual code in ai to move items from bags to wearing or the reverse. the wearing items code is actually read only, it never tries to move wearing items anywhere.
I love this addon and i would hate to have to remove it from my game but i would like help finding out why the addon removes my armor from my character and puts in my bag at random times..i never get a warning that its going to happen i just notice that my toon isn't wearing the item/items anymore..it only started doing this once i installed this addon and if there is a way to solve this problem i would really like to know.
with wow closed - look in your savedvariables folders until you find the arkinventory.lua file, there should be a .bak version, rename the current one to something else, then rename the bak file to the normal name
and probably a good idea to start making your own backups, even if its just every now and then, you dont normally change mod settings very often so its usually good enough to get by with, but the more often, the better. anything can corrupt a savedvariables file, we dont have that much control over when it gets saved.
I logged off last week & have been offline since due to the flu. Logged in today and ALL of my sortings & rules on every character, every realm are missing, leaving me with unsorted bags that I have to search to find anything. I've gone into the config to see if I could copy or load settings from a different profile but, of course, they too are gone.
Before anyone asks, nobody else plays on my account or has access to do so.
Has anyone else experienced this recently or know how to correct it short of re-creating every damn setting I've created & used over the past several years?
the cateory is just visual, where it ends up shouldnt impact hte functionality of that slot when you click it as the code is the same for all of them
try this; repeat what you did before, but before you hearth, move it to another slot, then hearth with it
also, disable ai, reload, and try it without ai. there used to be a weird hearthing issue with bags a long time ago, so want to rule out its not a pure blizzard issue.
if i have to i can probably add a workaround to rescan the bags after a hearth, on the proviso that theres an event to listen out for it.
Has anyone found a fix to the broken Main bag (16 slot bag you cant change) making items disapear. at the moment i only found temp fix, only by taking 1 item from that slot (16 slot bag) and moving it into another bag. it seems to reset the bag itself. still trying to find out the issue.
That's tthe thing I reported. Thanks for the workaround: I was just having to /reloadui all the time but changing the contents of bag 1 is quicker
yea wonder where the person who made this addon is :/
only fix i know atm.
try swapping to another character, open the bag and click on the swich character icon, select the character then selcet clear bag data
log back into the other toon and see if it still happens
i cant see the issue here so its hard to tell whats going on. have you disabled every single other addon and just run with ai to see if the issue is still there, presuming that it happens all the time
Yea its hard to reproduce. i think its just over time not opening the bags(give or take 1hr+) or when getting new item, hard to say really, all the other bags are fine, besides the backpack. it is only 1 that does it, also hard to say if it does it on all my toons since i only play my main mostly
I just did what you requested and still does it, tryed few things to reproduce it. seems like few things that made it do. this is what happen from point A to B
- Use portal to DMF, Went into pet battle, came out, Open a bag (bag you win from pet battle, It was fine), Hearth (open my bags thats when it was bug) *Note* Hearthstone is Innkeepers Daughter
Going to use my hearth and buy something to see if that will reproduce it again.
-Bought something ---- closed bags ----- Reopen bag ----- Nothan
-Hearthing ---- Open bags before i hearth *Everything ok* ----- Close bags and hearth ----- Waited about 5-15 sec ------ Open bag and yup thats issue.
This hearth was done from IF -> Shrine (alliance). Now as to if its Innkeepers Daughter or just fact that hearth is doing it, is hard to say. or if its how i Custom catagory the *Innkeepers Daughter*, Gonna test putting that hearth back to how it was (Default)
Heathstone is set back to System default-Soulbound
Hearthing from SW -> Shrine (alliance), Nothan happen, everything seems fine.
Going to go on an Alt, do Custom Catagory to my Hearthstone (none innkeepers Daughter) and see what happens. (Both alts was Horde)
Seems like Normal Hearthstone is not affected by this, Going to try another alt, Same thing.. as to reproduce it on an alt with Innkeepers daughter i only got 1 toon who has it. if anyone else can conferm this would be nice...
This what you do:
Make a Custom Catagory (example: Mine called toys), put "Toys" in its own Colume, Take "Innkeepers Daughter" set it to Toys, so it moves to to that slot, (Example: Go to Any other city then Shrine), hit your hearth (on your bar not in bag). once you fully hearth back to shrine.. wait few seconds then open your begs, If done right. everything in the Backpack will be "Missing" sorta speak. ***NOTE The Innkeepers Daughter IS NOT in the backpack (it was in my 4th bag)***
Also Note that I DID NOT turn off any addons. all addons that i normally use was active.
Just turn off all my addon but Ark and "Innkeepers Daughter" is still set as its custom catagory *TOYS*. Yup.. Its "Innkeepers Daughter" without it you cant reproduce the issue
Arkinventory keeps failing to show the full contents of my bags. Certain items seem more prone to disappearance, like Helpful Wikky's Whistle, but it affects a seemingly random selection, and occasionally the entire contents, barring a few empty slots. When it's affected, the full/total slots values are also wrong (though this may not be limited to ArkInventory, as I've got a separate Broker plugin which also reports incorrect numbers, I think). Reloading the UI fixes the problem, temporarily at least.
(Submitted as bug 638)
I've been having problems with the search. It just seems to hang up wow completely and takes forever when typing each letter. Is there any solution from this?
arkinventory doesnt work the same way as addibags, there is no way to stack above the actual stack size, or to combine slots in ai
yeah and once the next expansion comes out, stack sizes will be a LOT higher anyway.
to me it does, more than 2 or 3 seconds ..... and when I open the bags in combat and a total mess, redesigns BAGS up to a certain point, never total only partial...
This addon works great, however when I access the guild bank there is a rather large delay between clicking the tabs and the items within the bank updating (~1 sec). It has become extremely annoying but I love the addon and was wondering what exactly is going on.
the vault isnt like your bags, every time you change tabs i have to request the data from the server, wait for it to respond, then build the window.
you can change the vault bucket timer values in the config to a lower value to see if that speeds it up, just remember that it might make it worse, not better

Hey i just wanted to say that i love your addon, have been using it for years and it's the only addon i can't live without so thank you for that.
But there is one thing that is driving me crazy, i can't find a way to change the color of the title bar and search bar font, that green just doesn't mash well with the rest of my ui, there doesn't seem to be an option for it in ingame and since i don't have that much knowladge of lua it would be nice if you could drop by and tell me where i can change what line to edit those colors.
