ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Same problem.
Same problem here!, has anyone tried to open up a chat with the creator? or report this?
perhaps the blue screen is the old framelevel issue where the blue background stays on top - perhaps people could change their background colour and see if thats the issue?
ie, there is no code for a blue tint, only purple, and that should only show up for bags with more than 50 slots (of which there are none), so its doubtful youve ended up with the tainted item slots and its something else
eg, have you disabled the framelevel bug fix in your options?
same problem.
I am also having the same issue.
Since latest update yesterday, opening a bag in combat lags miserably. bag contents dont show up for 10 seconds
got the same issue
if you can think of any way to run a script longer than the blizzard script combat timer allows for then please let me know. until then im stuck with yielding and resuming the code as fast as i can.
btw, whats in your bags that you need in the first 10 seconds of loading into combat for the very first time? could it not be placed onto an action bar?
as far as im aware if the bag is built then entering combat doesnt make any difference, this issue is only a one off when entering into combat without the bag having been previously opened (eg when you first log into the game and go straight into combat?)
I'm using the latest release of your addon and it breaks void storage. I had a character that hadn't unlocked it, and it wouldn't let me pay to access it. I've also had your addon make it so I couldn't see items in void storage, which made me panic and think VS somehow "ate" it.
Ok, so after posting my concern, I finished reading comments and found the one by Kaustos instructing us to comment out lines 163, 164, and 234. I'm not a programmer at all, so in researching out how to do this, I found Programmer's Notepad. I then pulled up the ArkInventoryPetjournal.lua opening it with Programmer's Notepad, went to Tool options, then Default, and checked the show line numbers. Going to the now numbered lines I put a double - , in front of those 3 lines like -- . This makes the line a comment, a noninteractive part of the program.
After this, I'm still showing a high use a memory going up and down ranging from 12MB to 40MB just flying around. So it may have dropped it a little bit, I'm not sure if it is fixing the issue I'm having with lag, I need to use an instance which i don't have time for atm. will post later when I've tested it.
I've used Arkinventory for a very long time and loved it, but am now seeing it allocate 34-50 MB of ram and then deallocating it during combat, causing lag issues. Is there a way to fix this?
i can't get my stacks to be full. i think i'm missing something but i couldn't find the answer. can someone help me? the issue i'm having is i keep getting 19 stacks of ore instead of 20's
A weird thing happend to my bank. I use Outfitter and some of my outfits are in the bank. In my bag they are sorted corect, in my bank not. And now comes the weird thing: If I add this outfits to the WoW equipment Manager, the outfits are correctly sorted in my bank and bag.
It seems that the bank is not work well with the "outfit" macro.
some mods dont play nicely with others when adding to the tooltip. i preusmed AI was doing it properly but theres always the option to disable extra text added to tooltips by AI so all you should get is AI display the default tooltip.
For some weeks now I've had an issue with some tooltips on minimap and LDB icons, and after doing some testing, I finally found out that ArkInventory seems to be the cause of this. As of now, I noticed the issue only with the tooltips of the addons "Am I locked out?" and "CtA_Hawk" and no other addons, although I use a lot of different addons. When I disable all my addons except those two, they work fine, but as soon as I add ArkInventory, the issue occures, so I'm pretty sure it is caused by ArkInventory.
What happens is when I'm mousing over the icons their tooltip first displays as always, and then it starts to grow every few seconds when the cursor remains on the icon, and the contents of the tooltip are copied over and over, starting to fill my whole screen, causing the screen to freeze for a second every time this happens. When moving the cursor away and back onto the icon the tooltip resets to its normal state and then starts growing again. I might add a screenshot if needed.
I think it started with the release of 5.3 (not a 100% sure of this), because I do not remember encountering this problem before, but even downgrading to ArkInventory 3.03.27 did not fix this for me, so there seems to have been some change by Blizzard in 5.3. Maybe you are able to reproduce the problem and find a fix for it.
In addition to this, I'd like to ask something else. Some time ago, I asked you if you could add an option to display item levels on gear in your bags, and I was very happy to see you actually implemented this feature which I find really useful, thanks for that. But there is a small problem with items that have been upgraded, their icons only display base item levels. I think this might be easy to fix using LibItemUpgradeInfo, for example. It would be really awesome if you could implement that as well, thanks very much again.
Could you be a bit more specific as to how to perform this fix? I'm not very knowledgable on LUA code. I can get to the file, but wordpad doesn't have the code lines numbered, so I'm not sure which of the PetJournal lines to delete, as there are multiple copies of some of them.
Love this addon so alternatives are just not an option to me, here's a bandaid fix for current issues:
Comment out lines 163,164 and 234 in ArkInventoryPetJournal.lua. These 3 lines cache your journal filters and temporarily clear them while AI does its scan. With these commented out, pets filtered on the journal list will not be seen by AI. This fixes the memory/cpu consumption problem and the list will no longer flip back to the top when you're trying to click on ones further down.
--ArkInventory.PetJournal.FilterSave( )
--ArkInventory.PetJournal.FilterClear( )
--ArkInventory.PetJournal.FilterRestore( )
Hi kaustos just wanted to say thank you very much for posting that bandaid fix. arkinventory mb is now down where it used to be for me and is now useable again. So again thank you very much and I also want to let others know the bandaid fix worked for me.
Having to go through the hassle of this issue (and some other ones) has made me want to change bag addons, but I felt just like you, that I liked this too much and didn't know anything better. Well, now I do. Since I was using TSM Item Tracker for the tooltip info of cross-character items on tooltips (this often disappears while using AI anyway), and checking out how AdiBags very smartily and quickly puts items into groups you'd otherwise have to make using AI, I'm happy to stick to those. I really don't like the way lacking updates for serious issues such as this is looking for AI's future so I rather get used to something different now before it totally breaks and I'm not ready for it.
ArkInv lately has started interfering with the Pet Journal UI. It resets the list every time I move a pet. I've tried different bag addons, but I like this one the best. I don't want to end up dropping it to solve the pet UI issue =(
