ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua

Edit to add that even with a fresh install and only Ark enabled I was getting the error above.
fixed next version
I have solved this by using custom periodictable rule for each material type I use, e.g. pt("Tradeskill.Mat.ByType.Cloth") for cloth.
The problem with this is that Tailoring clumps both the cloth and DE mats together. I only want the cloth on its own bar, not cloth and DE mats.
Trade Goods > Cloth is not sorting it to its own bar now on my Tailor.
Skill > Tailoring sorts cloth and DE mats that Tailoring uses which is not what I want. Only the cloth.
unfortunately thats the consequence of the profession scanning actually working, and any mats your profession can use gets assigned to that profession. youll have to create a rule to pull the de mats into another category and then place that category on another bar..
today's update messed up a lot of my sort settings.. Most tradegoods were affected (herbs, enchantment dusts (essences stayed sorted) cloth, random white stuff from mobs (i.e soul essence ), reinstalled addon, items still won't sort properly. However gear wasn'at affected.
Any fix planned?
Edit: I took a closer look and found the problem, love the new sort options like tokens etc. good work. Without your addon I would be lost :D
its not your sort settings its the categories, trade goods were mostly affected, check that you have assigned the category the item is assigned to, to a bar.
eg herbs will be under trade goods > herbs unless your primary skill is herbalism or one that uses herbs, ie alchemy, in which case theyd end up under skill > xxxx
I've tried moving the items around in my bags, but they always end up back in the BoE bar.
They are both quest rewards and BoP items from dungeons. And yes, default category displays as Equipment(Not soulbound). If I maually set the category to Equipment(soulbound) they get relocated to where they should be.
Edit: To clarify further, only soulbound items with the default category are affected (i.e, new items I pick up). Soulbound items I've reassigned to custom categories aren't affected.
Edit 2: Actually, it turns out that it does affect items I'd already assigned. All equippable items were reverted to "Equipment(not soulbound)": As are all equippable items I pick up, even if they are soulbound.
Ever since today's update, all soulbound items end up in the bar I've set up for BoE items. =/
Edit: To clarify, the items are classifyed as "Equipment(Not soulbound)" even though they are in fact soulbound. So it's a classify problem, not a sorting problem, I suppose?
i rearranged some of the categorisation but i hadnt touched the equipment categories, those should still work. their default category is showing as equipment (not soulbound)? are they bop or boa?
its now possible for some soulbound items to turn up in other categories, like consumables, but equipment only has two choices, soulbound or not soulbound.
can you pick up the item, swap it with another item, and then refresh, does it go into the right category?
ive already worked on something to do this so it will eventually turn up, just dont hold your breath.
I just ran into a suggestion for ArkInv dating back to 2008,which if i'm not mistaken is still not implemented.
I'd really love to see a "copy settings" feature between containers. The reason for this is quite simple.I personally want all of my containers to use the same bars+appearance settings, but different sorting methods.I know i could always just manually copy the settings to each container one by one,but a feature to do this automatically would be highly usefull, as new "needs" will come up (for ex. the need to sort items by equip location has only come up cause of Transmog. items for me).
All in all though, props to what probably is one of the most important, i-cant-play-without addons of my UI :)
The item tracker of the addon appears bogus lately.
seems to be ok, which item are you having an issue with, and what exactly is the issue?
An absolutely amazing addon, I couldn't imagine the game without it - miles beyond the competition.
Why is it that every time I'm in edit mode, trying to select something out of the dropdown, that it continuously closes itself..rather irritating.
the dropdowns are always picky, if you leave the frame it closes, much like picking a bookmark in firefox, miss slightly and the stupid menu closes on you.
i had no idea they'd added that until i ran into i myself - some other mods i have are also getting it so it looks like its a very short time addons can do things while in combat.
im not sure if i can fix it as first bag opens are fairly hefty calculations, but ive been looking at rewriting AI again as its gotten a bit big an spread out code wise..
Everytime i open my bags in combat it throws an error saying that Arkinv's sort timed out. is there anyway to fix this?
