ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
whats broken? seriously, the mod has got options in it that i myself never use, threyre only there because other people wanted them and i could add them without any issues.
i can not and will not test every single feature every single release to see if i broke anything (i use it for a couple of days beforehand before releasing it, unless i need to fix something urgently).
you get the level of support you pay for, and thats all your entitled to, my game time is limited as it is.
help yourself and stop installing mod updates on day one, its not like you had to update, let others suffer the pain while you sit back and enjoy the benefits.
you can also help by actually telling me what broke, because until you do i dont actually care because i cant do anything about it anyway.
I LOVE the new pet quality addition, but when it tells me what the pet is, it semi errors. It'll say
Battle pet #1: [Creepy Crawly] [Unknown]
What is the "unknown" supposed to say? It's in red coloured text.
[unknown] = you do not have this pet, you may want to capture it
[full] = you cant catch any more of these
It's saying [Unknown] on pets I do have. (Especially after seeing that nasty rant up there, I appreciate you getting back to me.)
it shouldnt be, item counts were working ok for me during pet battles and critter mouseovers.
what item count tooltip options do you have set? its possible its a combo of those that i dont use so missed the bug
The item count tooltip actually isn't working. I'll uninstall and try a fresh re-install, and get back to you to see if that fixes it.
EDIT; A fresh reinstall cleared it all up; thanks for mentioning the item count. That's what sparked the decision!
login to the problematic toon, open the bag window, click on the switch toons icon, select the current toon, select erase all data.
reload your ui and it should be ok
I'm getting the following error every time I log in to every character on only one server. I have characters on other servers, and don't get the errors on those.

i just added the opponent links because it was simpler than writing a whole new mod and i had to add most of the code in any way to handle battlepet storage and tooltips.
So just why is an inventory addon spelunking into the realm of pet battles?
Aha, I wondered about that. It's getting to the point that so many addons are overlapping functionality and I'm seeing odd conflicts that are getting hard to track down.
For example, several addons are injecting info into tooltips, doing things during pet battles etc.
I'll have to disable some and see just what's going on with the tooltips you mentioned. You've also traditionally had a lot of configurability, so I'll check to see if there's anything pet-related.
custom battlepet tooltip (in config > tooltip) and item counts on critter tooltips (thats just the generic add item counts option)
i dont touch the actual petbattle ui in any way though
This work around worked perfectly. Thank you for your hard work, love this addon!
Thanks for the quick workaround. I came to realize today that not having your addon detracts from my game experience. Congrats on producing addictive crack. :)
Came here about that, and your fix for now works. Thanks man!
I agree with striker3. Never knew how much I rely on this feature until it broke. You, good sir/fair ma'am, are awesome. Thank you for the quick update and workaround!
I'm in agreement with striker3 and techkyle. I didn't even know which addon did it. All I knew was that I used that information on a regular basis for decision-making. This addon is one of my few cant-live-without addons.
