ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Update!
The Curse server download was the problem, the download from http://www.wowinterface.com/ worked for me. Now off to check for any other problems. Thanks!

Truly one of the best (and necessary) addons out there! But with the advent of Legion's patch - even though I deleted and did fresh install (trouble shooting measure) - ArkInventory **does not load**. Thanks for your help.
I turned off all other addons and upon entering the game got this error:

should be fixed in .09

translation text is wrong, it is currently "Открывать сумку %1$s, когда вы %3$s"
it should be a translation of "Open the %1$s %2$s when you", where 1 is replaced with "ArkInventory" and 2 is replaced with the russian word for "Bag", the options it refers to are "when opening the bank", "when visiting a merchant", etc
i'll clear them for now (the auto close translation is the same)
Thank you! You and your addon are truly awesome and beatiful <3

have this issue with latest update on both types of servers
1) Open your bag
2) Click on Menu then click "Config"
3) Click on Profiles and select an existing profile in the right navigation (ie: Default, Class, ServerName, Character Name)
4) Click on Controls
5) Select the Bag/Bank/Whichever Tab
6) Under BluePrint: There "Style", "Layout" and "Category Set"
a) Select [1002] Default - Bag For each of those
7) Click Close
8) type /Reload or /Reload UI (Essentially, reload your UI)
Viola! your Arkinventory bag is back to pre-patch settings.
Wrong. Doesnt work for everyone
im hoping the issue most of you are having is due to being on a server that isnt in a cross realm cluster, the code to work that out was aborting so ive changed that to just spit out a warning and continue on instead, hopefully that will resolve it
It's still not working, I'm not on a Cross Realm Cluster. love this addon though. Hope you can get it working soon. The addon is loaded, I'm seeing default Bags. But in keybinds under addons I can see my arkinventory keybinds
maybe this will help too

I am on Thrall, which is not a Cross Realm Cluster. This update fixed the error it was throwing.
I also followed the directions below to create a Category and Design set and I am able to start reconfiguring my bags again. Many thanks for the quick updates tonight.
Im on a cross realm server, and the issue is have that my profiles were deleted, and I canty edit any "bag" now because they say *Locked* I tried using the solutions below to no avail :(
Addon not showing up at all, bags are just the regular WoW ones. Tried binding the B key to ark open bags, but only gives me an error.
It worked fine until the last update :/
Yes! Same for me.
This isn't the only addon that's just refusing to load for me; I do have "Load Out of Date Addons" checked as well.
I've seen addons stop working after a patch before, but never just flat refuse to load.
I guess profiles are busted? None of my profiles or controls or anything else that I can find a default setting is set to default. Each toon is still set to their own profile. Categories are still there, so it's like half the profile is working. On my first login, my character had bar titles, but not one of my 10 other toons have had bar titles. Banks are like a hodgepodge disaster zone with most items crammed where ever. Items have lost their assigned categories almost completely or in some cases are showing in the wrong one. I guess I'd just like to know if this is fixable or do I need to start working on a profile so I can copy it over to my other toons again?
@Zananos: I feel you. I. feel. you.
I get this error:
Message: Interface\AddOns\ArkInventory\ArkInventoryConst.lua:20: Cannot find a library instance of "AceSerializer-3.0".

Now arkinventory isn't loading at all.
Bag is getting solid black screens - any help here?
I just want to know how to do a non-system layout so I can redo my profiles. I don't care about the profiles anymore T.T I just want to be organized at all costs even at the expense of my old profiles.
I can't figure out WHY i've deleted everything on my PC with the damn name Arkinventory and the profiles are STILL showing up on a reinstall. I've deleted and reinstalled and remade names and changed things off of default and it still says locked for everything. I am super close to fully deleting ALL of wow and reinstalling everything T.T
It is giving me anxiety and frustrating me to the point of tears that I cannot get this to work.
open the config and go to settings > categories > category sets - create one called anything you like (theres nothing to set, just create it)
go to settings > designs - create one called anything you like (dont have to set anything yet)
go to control > bag and set the blueprint options, style and layout to use the design you created, category set to use what you created
from there you can change any of the style settings through the config or the layout settings through edit mode
make sure you set each location to have blueprint settings if you want to make changes to it
An important addendum to this:
It does not work until after a /reload. If you don't do a /reload, it will appear not to have worked.
Edit: Even though I posted this as a direct reply to Arkayenro's post below, it seems to have gone above his. This is in reference to the author's instructions to make a category set, design, and blueprint option.
I have loaded and reloaded, finally after looking through some of instructions, was able to assign categories. Am not able to edit items in certain categories, get message that assignable categories are locked. Any help would be appreciated. Keeps me from wasting time looking for items in bags/bank,
