PitBull4 is a continuation of PitBull.

Differences from PitBull 3:

  • It's mostly done, but not entirely done thus why there are still only betas (despite this it is still very stable).
  • Documentation is written before functions
  • Much easier for third-party extensions.
  • Options will be much, much simpler. In 3.0, there's about 200 panels that you can mess with, it's overwhelming. I want to bring this down to somewhere around 10.
    • Layouts are defined deterministically and unit groups use the layout rather than ad-hoc layouts on a per-unit basis. This will make setting up your unit frames far, far easier.
    • Due to some decisions made, 4.0 is actually more configurable than 3.0. As a layout designer, you will have a lot more control over how things look. You can have different fonts on the same frame, different textures, more precise positioning, and a whole slough of other things.
  • CPU Efficiency will be taken much more seriously.
  • It uses Ace3 instead of Rock.

    It's a bug if it's really happening. But I really don't think it is happening. I have all sorts of test layouts that aren't assigned to any frames or that are assigned to frames that are disabled. Never had a problem with it. I just created a layout and tried to replicate what you described and was not able to, the layout was still there when I logged back in.

    Did you by chance log into a different character that had a different profile active?

    How about I teach you to fish instead of just telling you. :)

    When in the game type /framestack

    You'll get a tooltip that shows you the names of the frames under your mouse (including ones you can't see). Mouse around till you find the info you want.

    When you're done just type /framestack again and the tooltip will go away.

    Thank you, I have another question as well.

    What is the pitbull frame name for auras? I'm asking because it's needed to make an OmniCC exception. I want to use pitbull cooldown text and have OmniCC for my actionbar but I can't figure out the frame name for pitbull auras or if it's even possible to make an exception for it in OmniCC.

    Hi! I've been a long time user of Pitbull since its early days and recently cleared my trio of folders to completely create a new UI. After grabbing the most recent version of Pitbull, v4.0.0-beta36-4-g38b3a65, I began setting up various layouts to use for each of my frames and came across something very odd. Before, I only set up a couple of layouts for my frames so I have no idea if this is intended, a bug, or if its been true for a much longer time than just recently.

    I decided I wanted to set up 3 separate layouts for my raid frames so I could swap between them based on what I was doing (BGs, 10 man, or 25 man). I noticed that when I created a layout and didn't associate that layout with a Unit or Unit Group, it disappears upon logout. I systematically went through and tested it using a frame I always disable: Target's target's target. I Simply enabled this frame, set up my next layout (lets call it 25-man), and chose this new layout via the drop down box under Target's target's target and logged out. I logged back in and the layout was still available among my other created layouts. I then Disabled Target's target's target while leaving the layout the same. Upon logging back in, it was gone from my list of layouts.

    My question is, is this a bug or intended? I would very much like to set up different layouts so that when I join Alterac Valley or Isle of Conquest my bars don't cover up important parts of my UI. I don't want to have to enable extra frames that clutter my screen just to save a unique layout so that it doesn't magically disappear from my list of layouts.

    We have had aura filtering for far longer than Shadowed Unit Frames has even existed. As far as I know you can only do white and black lists by name in SUF, when we can do a heck of a lot more than that. If you want to just create your own white or black lists you can go to Modules, Aura, Aura filter editor, Advanced. Type in a name for your filter in the New filter box and press enter. Choose when you want the filter to show in the drop down boxes for the aura module, if you're not sure Always is fine for now. Choose Name for the Filter type. Choose White List or Blacklist as it suits you and then you can start adding names below.

    Once you've made your filter you can select it to filter the buffs or debuffs on a layout in the Layout editor, Aura, Filters. You can also use filters to decide when to highlight frames.

    There is a fairly complex set of filters included already that implements the filtering that was present in PB3.

    WoW doesn't provide anyway to rotate the text. However you can put newlines in the text to make it appear vertical.

    So let's say you start with this:

    return '%s %s%s%s',Name(unit),Angle(AFK(unit) or DND(unit))
    

    Take the return line and wrap it in string.format and put it in a variable, then add the code that follows that line. You should leave any lines ahead of the return line alone. If the text has multiple return lines you'll probably want to refactor it so that it only has one.

    But the above example would end up like so:

    local out = ""

    A rework of the anchoring code is in progress. I haven't released it because it rewrites users confs and once changed you can't go back unless you have a backup (and most users don't). So I need to throughly test it.

    Would like to know what the font is you use in the "plainish" layout and how did you manage to show the amount of your HP and the percentage of your HP verticaly instead of next to eachother. I tried everything with the LUA code, but can't seem to find out how you did that.

    Re: Aura anchoring frame. Understandable about not wanting to take out that optimization. It's still something I wouldn't mind having in the future, but for now I've come up with a different solution.

    Another request, though. Can you add the ability to set the anchor to/from into the options for Groups? I'd like to offset my party and raid frames from the bottom center of the screen rather than the center.
