WIM (WoW Instant Messenger) is a World of Warcraft addon which brings an instant messenger feel to communication in game.

Known Issues
- Addons can not process messages while chat is in lock down. To get around this, WIM logs all events and then rebuilds and processes them once you have excited lock down. During this time, chat is routed as normal to the default chat frame so you don't miss anything. Unfortunately, /r and similar keybindings to reply during this time will NOT work. Allowing the default chat frame to handle these events cause severe tainting issues and breaks everything.
- Community Chat is now supported. It comes with limitations though because the sender name and message are protected and can not be read by addons or saved.

Posted Jan 21, 2026Found a temporary solution to avoid WIM to be flagged as incompatible...
Been gambling with the lua file and noticed the line with game version stated 120001 instead of 120000, just replaced the value with 120000 and now it works

Posted Jan 18, 2026I am currently testing add-ons because I have to completely rebuild my interface with Midnight. For this purpose, I have also installed WIM version 3.14.5. However, this is displayed as incompatible on the PTR. The checkbox for “Load outdated add-ons” is selected.

It seems the "Load out of date addons" is just there, I don't think it actually does anything.

Posted Jan 16, 2026not working for me in tbc anniversary, some people do have it working im not sure if something else is interfering. Just wanted to add, i disabled all my addons and only enabled WIM and its not working, I fully deleted wim manually and reinstalled didnt work. It is working for my guildies, it shows as out of date on my addons list but im definitely installing under the tbc tab its v3.14.4
**SOLVED**
I had to manually go into the tbc.toc file and change the interface number from 20504 to 20505. if youre having issues like i was just try this it worked instantly
**UNSOLVED**
So you guys pushed an update to fix it, its working for everyone else, i completely deleted mine and reinstalled it since i had edited the files (see higher up in my comment) now the updated version doesnt work, it works for my guildies so its gotta be something on my end but i cant figure it out, so what im doing is just downloading the older version (in the versions tab) and then editing the file like i was previously.
