Quick reply regarding the April Fools Joke:

1. I am sorry if this scared the crap out of you. That wasn't my intention. I thought it would simply raise a brow and go "wtf?!". I guess that was my mistake. So if you want a formal apology. I'm sorry.

2. A quick way to stop the sounds which doesn't involve modifying code. Go into your addons directory and navigate to "WIM/Sounds" and delete the 2 files aping1.wav and aping2.mp3. You will no longer be bothered by Darth Vader and his crappy modem.

3. If you feel I betrayed your trust, don't. Or do for that matter. The choice is up to you. Whether you use WIM or not doesn't effect me. I don't get paid for the time I put into it. In fact, it costs me money. I've invested about $2,000 into it over the past 2 years in hosting to make it easily accessible for everyone.

4. It's April 1st everyone. I even wrote a storyline for it which I posted on WIMAddon.com.

I did find humor in it as I remember the days of listening to the modem connect and taking forever. Time have changed.

There's a difference between a workaround and a fix. Also, this workaround doesn't fix the stormtrooper icon issue.

Joke or no joke, this sound file sucks. What's funny is I was sorting thru my addons to find which dumbass put this sound file in and WIM was the least of which I expected. Talk about a rep check....I'll move onto other messaging addons thanks.

If you would like to use WIM for the rest of today in peace, *manually* download and install v3 3.0.8. Then go into Curse Client (if you use it), right-click on WIM and select "Toggle Ignored" so that WIM won't automatically update to the foolish version.

Note: Versions 3.06 through 3.08 contains an earlier version of the joke, which is only enabled if you reload your user interface form inside the game. If you are an ACP junkie like me, then you may be happier with version 3.0.5b today.

Well, I was almost sure that it was a 1st of April joke from WIM or Blizzard, but what scared me most was the fact that it removes your account name from the login screen and uncheck the “remember account name” check box, cause usually this is a sign of keylogger.

Ah, this is one day I think I can deal with hearing vadar and star wars themed things on my computer, props on the joke! lol

@nonameform: all issues you just mentioned are already fixed in the current beta.

I know that they're fixed. Still that joke was a third time I had to browse web trying to find answer to a problem with the same addon. And that made me sad.

I had the same modem sounds and also darth vader breathing trough my speakers. So I tried to reinstall the game too and same results.

At any load screen, I am hearing a modem dial and connect. I tracked this to WIM. I deleted the add on and downloaded it directly from the WIM site, and it happened again. I have been using WIM for a long time, and this just started. It is one of my favorite addons, but until this issue is fixed I will have to do without it.

This occurs when people whisper me while I'm AFK, then log off due to inactivity.

Since yesterday my whispers are not limited to the WIM-windows, they also appear in the normal chat-frame. This is not a very serious problem, but I think there is no need to read it twice ^^.
There also appears a little complication if I used more than three windows durig a session, even if I closed the windows correctly. After typing a whisper the window is still active an I have to take [enter] once more, again not so serious, but sometimes kind of nogging in instances.

In both cases there is no Errormessage connected to WIM, it just doesn't work the way it should do, and I can't immagine why, because I did not install or deinstall any other AddOns before these problems began.
