Skada Damage Meter

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

Note: I took a tiny break from WoW (a decade), but recently started playing SoD. Be aware that this addon may not quite work yet.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is easy to extend, and there were once many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality. However, there are unlikely to be any maintained ones currently.

One of the things I really liked about assessment was the ability to show more than one window. Does skada have the ability to do that?

That way I could show healing AND damage, for example

Hello there! I got a little problem with skada, i cant find where i can disable showing percentage of damage and heal, i need a view like:
(Name) (Number of healed) (HPS, with out percent)

Just for your information - you can resize the window. It is done from the configuration. You can also see stats on each spell you have; left-click on yourself in the damage meter. Hold SHIFT at the same time to show who/what you damaged. Left-click once more for more detailed information. Right-click to get back to where you were.

i have been running this addon for a while. i dont really like them. first it says im 4th in DPS on my mage, 2 hunters that arent nearly as geared as i am are beating me. then it says im ahead. i cant resize the window. when i change characters i can see the meter from a raid i did with another character. im told its more accurate, but seeing people telling bugs, about things its not recording. i enjoy recount allot more, easier to read, can resize the screen, and even if it is a little off on DPS, you can still go in and see what your stats on each attack you used during a battle. with this skada.. there is none of that. to me, recount seems allot easier to use, with allot more information. that may be why it takes up more memory to use. because it has more then this little thing does. ill try skada again later when they have added allot more to it, so its more usefull.

Absorbs mode should include PW:S. Note that if there are multiple absorb effects on a target, the correct one may not be shown, as there is a fair amount of guesswork involved.

Inspiration is not tracked because it does not absorb, it just adds armor. Tracking that would involve very shady guesswork, which I will not do. Renewed Hope is a damage reduction buff to the raid and is not tracked for the same reason that damage from damage increase buffs (like Trueshot Aura) are not added to the players who supply the buff.

I recently noticed a problem with the Skada Meter. It doesn't include any Damage prevented. I'm a Discipline Priest, So this is very important in my opinion. I'd like if it could inculde damage prevented from Inspiration and Renewed Hope. The meter also doesn't include Power Word: Shield in under Absorbs. It only registers anything absorbed from Divine Aegis for me.

I'm very happy with this addon, especialy coming from a Recount user. However, Skada doesn't distinguish between Heart Strike and a white attack, which kind of sucks for DPS testing purposes. Is there any chance of getting this fixed?

Waterfall menu is continuously difficult to battle, constantly disappearing on me. Recount had an "activity" feature which sort of let you check up on who is using what, is there any way you can add a window to check if people are using misdirects etc similar to how the interrupt window works.

Would it be possible to innately support more than 10 lines of data? I know you can easily change the figure in one of the files in the addon itself, but built in mod support is always better! Even if its just 1-10, 15, 20, 25 would be great. Thanks!

The SkadaAbsorbs module has some major flaws in it. I have fixed these flaws for my copy, and it now works perfectly. If you are interested in the fixes I have made, PM me and we can discuss it in detail.

Quick summary:
Complete absorbs are not the same as partial absorbs.
Damage absorbed from an unknown source (like Shadow Word: Death recoil) is not tracked.
Shields applied before entering combat are not tracked when you enter combat and take damage.

I like the new menu on the bar in r246 but the menu goes off the screen sometimes.

better than recount, uses about 200kb less memory than recount

u can use for threat meter...... like omen and recount combined

I am dual-specced DPS/heal. Is there any way I can have the same "window" show DPS or Healing? I can understand if it's tough to make that automatic, but a click-to-switch would be awesome...

...unless I'm totally missing something here...

Not sure I follow you there. Just right-click once to get back to the mode list and choose Damage or Healing?

Or do you mean that you want a Skada window to automatically switch mode when you switch spec? Sounds interesting, if a bit lazy on your part. :)

I like your damage meter better than recount. It seems more accurate. But I would like to be able to re-size the window by pulling on the edges. And I would like to be able to separate my damage from my pet's damage for pet testing. Other than that a great addon.
