HandyNotes
Handy Notes for your maps. This addon is intended to be a small and simple framework for showing notes on your map.
Use /handynotes to access options.
You can add notes to the maps in 3 ways:
- Alt-RightClick on the world map to add a note.
- Use "/hnnew" without the quotes to add a note at your current location.
- Use "/hnnew x,y" without the quotes to add a note at location x,y on your current zone's map.
HandyNotes supports plugins that other authors can write to display their own set of notes on the map. See this link for a list of such addons: https://www.curseforge.com/wow/search?search=handynotes

Since 3.3 zoneinfo (the level info about the country) is not working. Any ideas how to fix it? That was a pretty cool feature.
/note x,y Note
which would add a note to my current map. Is there any way of doing this with HandyNotes at all?
Also, does anyone know if/how I can import my Cartographer_Notes into HandyNotes?
I'm not aware of any way to import Cartographer_Notes into HandyNotes unfortunaely (but i'd love for someone to prove me wrong as i have some notes i'd like to import myself!) though i'm not the addon developer so there could be something i don't know about.
Learn how to checkmark "Load out of date AddOns" in your AddOns frame on the character screen before logon.
Recent Information from WowMatrix: These Addons (in bold) cannot be installed or updated at this time, because it is being hosted at either Curse or WoWInterface.
Both of those websites do not wish to have updaters connect to their sites, and have deliberately blocked updaters from doing so, starting right on the day of the 3.1 patch.
Although we do not agree with the actions of these sites, we respect their position in this matter, and are working on ways to bring you a quality selection of AddOns without connecting to these sites.
If any of these AddOns (in bold) come with a free distribution license (such as GPL, BSD, public domain, etc.), let us know and we should be able to get it back online relatively quickly by hosting it on our servers.
Otherwise, if you know the author(s) of these AddOns, you may wish to get in touch with them and see if they would like to host their
AddOn(s) on our servers, and have them contact us if they do.
In the meantime, thank you for your patience and understanding.
Here's my list of WoW AddOns. The bold AddOns are currently unable to be installed or updated through WowMatrix and I would ask you to please contact WowMatrix at http://www.wowmatrix.com/ to host your AddOn(s) on the WowMatrix servers, as this is the easiest way to update multiple addons, as well as it is less risky than using Curse client. I personally refuse to use Curse client because I have heard too many horror stories of people's WoW accounts getting compromised as a direct result of using that service.
Thank you in advance,
Diana Peek

WowMatrix circumvents those little things like the Donate button, advertisements, notes, comments, link to the author website, etc. all while using the bandwidth of the service that is actually hosting the file (that is, until they got cut off).
So while you find it aggravating to update and install addons that are provided to you free of charge (because most likely you are lazy) there are people who need to pay the bills.
Why any author that would choose to do this is beyond me.
