HandyNotes

Handy Notes for your maps. This addon is intended to be a small and simple framework for showing notes on your map.

Use /handynotes to access options.

You can add notes to the maps in 3 ways:

Alt-RightClick on the world map to add a note.
Use "/hnnew" without the quotes to add a note at your current location.
Use "/hnnew x,y" without the quotes to add a note at location x,y on your current zone's map.

is it possible, that HN ( v1.1.6 ) seems not to work anymore with Carbonite(4.013) together..

cant see anymore Silver Dragon (v2.4.1) Icons on the carbo map

Should note that with the introduction of the Hero's Call Board/Warchief Commands Board, the only time you should ever have to field that question is if they are being griefed and would like a shortcut without having to travel to another capital first or they are in Outland/Northrend.

Should also note that zones appear to all have their own story to tell which is substantially more linear than before so marking the starting point for the zone is a must :)

I sooo miss Cartographer's ability to show the MOB levels in zones when you mouseover the continent maps. Many many times guildies are asking, "Where do I quest next for my level?" With Handynotes, I was able to create notes on each zone that show the level of MOBs for that area ... AND ... it will let me show them on the continent map so I have almost all of the functionality back. Thanks Xinhuan!

I have been using MapNotes for YEARS but with 4.0.1 the mod finally gave out, so I installed HandyNotes. I enjoyed the mod and liked the interface, but something happened either while clearing the cache or during the mini-patch where I lost ALL of my re-done notes.

Any thoughts on what may have caused them all to disappear? Secondly (and more important), where are the notes backed up so I can always have a back-up file on hand so this (hopefully) never happens again? PS you make some of my favourite mods of all time!

I'm having a rather odd little problem with HandyNotes. Whenever I alt-click the map to add a note, it opens the HandyNotes dialog box BEHIND the map. I have to click M to close the map in order to see the HandyNotes window and enter the info, select the icon, etc.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening? The only other map-ish addon I'm using at the moment is MozzFullworldMap. I've also got TomTom and EveryQuest installed, which are also somewhat related to mapping and whatnot. I'll try disabling everything and see what happens.

Yeah, just a quick FYI followup. I disabled everything except HandyNotes and I'm still having the issue. The HandyNotes window opens up behing the map.

I sometimes get minimap icons showing up as HUGE when I login. The effect is inconsistent. I can get them to go back to their intended size by bringing up the /handynotes screen and toggling the activate checkbox.

Would be nice to make note creation window level higher from map in full screen mode.
+option to hide notes from minimap.

Great addon, but since patch 4.0.1 onwards blizzard gives the option to track mostly everything in the minimap, so i wonder if you could perhaps put in an option to not put in any notes to the minimap?

I was just searching for this myself. It is *not* a request for the slash commands. It's a request for a public function to be able to add notes directly (and bypass the dialog.)

For example:
/script hnadd(title,x,y,icon,description)

The command long existed already. it is "/hnnew" to create a note at your location, or "/hnnew x y" if you want to specify the x and y coordinates.

Any chance of including functionality where you can run a command to place a map note via a function directly? ie with a /script command rather than a slash command, and so that it would create the note without going via the edit frame? Thanks

Hello idk if its just me or what but its kinda annoying i wanted to see if theres anything you could or i could do about this i used this addon to put a few spots on my maps for spawns of something i want i love the addon but as i fly around going from spot to spot the icons will move on my mini map and i have to sit there and wait for them to pop back where they need to be it messes me up sometimes but i can't find another addon that does this so plz if you could look into that

i might be missing something, i installed handynotes and a few of the extra packages, vendor locations, mailboxes etc, but i see nothing... /handynotes does nothing for me, do i have to add all the positions manually? because when the description said 'database of mailbox locations for handynotes' i kinda expected to see them on my map somewhere, also /hnnew does nothing...

If i'm missing something then please say :)

@Gez,

You don't have to enter them manually but it only shows an icon for the places after you visit them. So go to a mailbox for example and open it.

Sorry to say it, but Carbonite will show all inns, mailboxes, etc, even if you have never 'visited' the area. but the plug ins look cool for this little addon.
