GladiusEx

Table of Contents

GladiusEx is an arena unit frames addon based on Gladius.

What's new

New features include:

Party frames: support for showing frames for your own team

Cooldown tracker: a highly configurable module for tracking all types of cooldowns

Skill history: shows the icons of the last few skills used by the unit

Alerts: makes the frames blink in a noticeable way during some configured events (including low health, auras and specific spells being cast)

Pets: new module for displaying pet bars

Interrupts: See the interrupts directly on your arena & party frames.

And the classic modules, most of which have been improved in various ways:

Auras: now with more filtering options

Class Icon: new display modes: by spec, role and portraits

Cast Bar: now shows which spells can't be interrupted

DR Tracker: track the diminishing returns timers on both the enemy team and your team. Now lets you select which icon you want displayed for every category!

Health Bar: now displays incoming heals and absorbs

Tags: configure every text to show exactly what you want, now with more built-in tags and improved performance

FAQ

How do I bring the user interface up ?

You can use the /gex slash command, or you can access the options from the addons tab in the interface panel.

Where did the trinket and the dispels modules go ?

They have been replaced by the cooldowns module, which now allows you to have several groups of cooldowns configured independently. By default, the trinket cooldown is shown in group 2 and a few other cooldowns in group 1.

What is that additional set of frames that I see ?

Those are the party frames. This is incremental functionality that will help you track not only your enemies but also your friends. If you use your own you can turn these easily off in the general settings. You can also disable only your own frame, but keep the GladiusEx party frames.

Is it possible to have text timers for the auras, cooldowns or the DR icons ?

The timer module has been removed, but this can be achieved with OmniCC or other similar addons.

It's the cooldown tracker on it that makes it so damn op, maybe you can post your paypal here so people can donate for your time to update it. Just a thought, I'd buy you a beer.

I'm bummed that this addon may be discontinued. It was crutial to getting me 2k last season. Any chance at all you could be convinced to update it for BfA?

Hi there, will this be updated for BFA? Also, do you think it'd be possible to have textures/options that make it look like WoW's default UI frames?

edit: and one other thing, is possible to have enabled even when not in a party? to just show the player so it is effectively the player frame when not grouped.

Probably no update for BfA. I don't like the game enough to justify the cost of another expansion to buy.

It's hard to make them look like blizzard frames, because then the cooldowns/... are not attached to anything.

You can force-trigger gladiusex to show up with /gex test or via the test mode.

First of all, thanks a lot for the addon, it is a great upgrade from gladius.

I was wondering, is there any way to change the shading/transparency level of the "cooldown wheel" for the auras module? I find that the white shading is too strong and makes it kinda hard to see the icons, especially if you are tracking a lot of them.

Would love a way to add spells (like PAB which I replaced with this; via spell ID, CD entering etc) that are not currently included. (ex: DH Reverse Magic)

Feel free to point out missing cooldowns and they'll be provided in the next version.

You shouldn't need to enter CDs by hand, especially as the interface would be very convoluted, as you'd need to be able to enter class, spec ids, talent or not, duration, silence, offensive, defensive, which CDs it replaces, the spec-specific CDs, the charges, the optional charges, ...

Is Adaptation/Relentless tracked correctly?
GEX is tracking the standard Gladiator medallion at the beginning of the arena, when Adaptation is triggered mid arena, the icon is updated.
Relentless is untracked since it never triggers, just a passive spell
Any fix for this? my Gladius is disabled (had the same problem with it, expected GEX to solve it)

I'm very surprised about this. The way Gladius and GladiusEx detect trinkets is the same as the base UI. So if it works on the base UI, it should work on GladiusEx.

The one thing that sometimes happen is that Gex doesn't detect **party** trinkets instantly, and only after they've been used. That's a known issue, and I'm looking for ways to fix it, but it only works that way for **party trinkets**.

Can you try to disable all your other addons to check if it happens when only GladiusEx is enabled.
Also try to update GladiusEx if you're not on the latest already.
Also, just in case: if you play on a private server, weird things may happen.

I had the cvar showarenaenemyframes set to 0 (disabled), I enabled it setting it to 1 and adap/relen started working. Must have showarenapetframes (cant recall exact name) set to 1 too

And yeah, party trinkets wont show on gates opening, instead, its updated the first time trinkets are used

I also may suggest taking a look at the cooldowns module, some of them are showing for wrong specs

WRT party trinkets, I'm working on a solution, but the thing I'm currently using to detect spec/talents of party members does not allow me to check *pvp talents*. I'll keep you posted.

I took a good hard look at the cooldowns module, but I did the port alone, and I do not have perfect knowledge of all specs. Feedback is appreciated :).
