Posted Sep 4, 2019Hello everyone, can someone please check if it is possible to import old GatherMate_Data https://www.wowace.com/projects/gathermate_data/files that was used by old GatherMate (during pre-Cata era) and import it for GatherMate2_Data for wow classic 1.13.2 ?
Many thanks

It was possible -- thanks for the idea. You can find my work here. https://github.com/Thurdi/GatherMate2_Data_Classic
Use at your own risk, but it should be the complete database from Pre-Cata. I've msg'd the author of Gathermate2 to see if he'd like to use the databases.

How do you use this then? Not as an import since that doesn't work. :/

You can take the data and just paste it into your Account\<account>\SavedVariables\GatherMate2.lua.
Copy the data from f.ex herbs:
GatherMateData2HerbDB = { [1442] = { [7420528000] = 408, [6270674000] = 409, [5980698000] = 405,skip "GatherMateData2HerbDB" and just take everything between the {},paste it into your GatherMate2.lua like so:
GatherMate2DB = { ["profileKeys"] = { }, ["global"] = { ["data_version"] = 5, }, ["profiles"] = { ["Default"] = { }, }, } GatherMate2HerbDB = { -- paste the copied data here [1442] = { [7420528000] = 408, [6270674000] = 409, [5980698000] = 405,Change before you log in your character or the file will already be loaded and a /reload will restore what it was before.

If you download the whole folder from the github link, it will import. Just place it in the addons folder like any other addon and import as normal.

Technically, it wouldn't be too difficult to do this, as well as have Gathermate2 only import and load the respective arrays.
Though many, probably most, herbs & veins etc can be found in very different places in Classic from where they can be found on the live BfA realms, in the "same" zones - which means this completely separate data array would just unnecessarily increase the overall file size of this database. And since Classic has its own Interface/Addons directory anyway, it would be most reasonable to have these two data sets distributed as two isolated files.
This seems slightly different from making an actual addon (like Gathermate2) compatible with both APIs respectively, because a) from what I understand the Classic API is closer to the BfA API than to the Vanilla API, and b) the increase in memory footprint or CPU time from a joint version is probably negligible compared to having to basically maintain an isolated addon.

Who wouldn't, right?
Theoretically, this could be as easy as letting a few hundred players gather the corresponding data first..
.. including you! ... and you! .. and that coy druid back there!
