Elkano's BuffBars

EBB provides groups of (mainly) statusbar style indicators to show (de)buffs currently affecting your char or some other units (focus, pet and target). For the player, it can also show indicators for temporary enchants placed on their weapons.

For over 20 years, EBB has been a mainstay for both long-term and returning players (at least some) and reports of its death have been greatly exaggerated.

Two-in-One Download

For Classic WoW, the addon uses its older 2.x code base, for Mainline WoW (Retail and Forever) it is now based on Blizzard's AuraContainer; all in the same download file.

2.x based on UnitAura

Version 2.x was a total recode, initially based on the Ace2 framework, later ported to Ace3, which became necessary in order to support some of the longtime wanted and suggested features. It has served well for ~19 years (since June '07) and made it possible to show different groups of bars which can be configured in many ways. Each group can be assigned an individual look and filter settings. After setting up a group, its anchor can be hidden by alt-left clicking a bar or the anchor itself in order to lock the group in place.

Due to changes Blizzard made with WoW 4.x it's no longer possible to cancel buffs without the use of secure frames. EBB v2 thus limits cancelling of buffs to out-of-fight since using SecureAuraHeader would have required a major code restructuring. ~~This will be coming in a later version.~~

3.x based on AuraContainer

This is once again a complete artisanal rewrite, which became necessary due to Blizzard making auras secret in combat. This also gave me the push to include some features I already wanted but never included before. And you can cancel buffs in combat again.

Layouts can now be shared between groups, support multi-line/-column alignments, and give you way more options than before. But it can also just look the same as it used to.

What did suffer from the change of underlying technology are some of the filter options, as Blizzard has intentionally broken those.

And I haven't added localization to v3, yet. So most texts are in English besides a few strings reused from the game client.

Settings

The settings can be accessed via chat (/ebb), LDB icon, or simply via the game settings.

in EBB you can right click the timer (not the icon) and it places a large icon center screen that you left click to cancel the buff, the right click the large icon to hide it.

also cannot right click a buff, such as the famous noggenfoger skeleton, since you can't mount when shifted, i have to relog with elk disabled in order to remove the buff/debuff.

The "removing buff issue" is not an issue of addons.
With Cataclysm, Blizzard modified the buff functions to protect them (maybe to prevent some kind of exploit used in the past). So right-clicking a buff to remove it is ONLY possible with the standard buff interface. No addon can do it anymore until Blizzard decides to modify once again the functions.

If you know the buffs you want to remove, you can still make a standard macro to cancel it/them by using cancelaura:

/cancelaura Horn of Winter
/cancelaura Name of annoying Buff
...

Ok, r157 turned tench group back on but still got a problem.
Enchant duration time is always 0:00, even if there is no ecnhants at all...

a little addition:
enchant duration time doesn't updating from cast itself but updating from replacing to any weapon without class enchants active or if i make myself unarmed

I came here wondering the same thing. This would be especially useful right now, with people throwing pumpkin heads around. >_< I don't mind having them thrown at me, but call me vain, I like to turn it off again. I'm not a fan of the pumpkin head look. heh

Not to mention some of the other "Costumes" block casting, and I can't right click to turn them off either!

Please see comments below. Basically the short of it is that this is a change Blizzard made to the game itself, NO addon can currently rightclick the buffs off.

If you need to get rid of a pesky debuff, you can use
/cancelaura <debuffname here>

i tried this command, but didnt work for me =/ tried to get rid of a buff tho, not debuff.

was the "whisp costume" tried with <> and without, lower case and correct case letters... have to dissable the addon completely to be able to get rid if it, get and error if i try to unhide the original buffs and right click

When using /cancelaura you have to be exact to the spelling that Blizz uses.

For your example it would be /cancelaura Wisp Costume

For something like the jack o lantern it would be

/cancelaura Jack-o'-Lanterned!

Miss any one letter/punctuation and it won't work.

I'm having a problem with ElkBuffBars and DockingStation. DockingStation will gray the plugin out in the menu, and when I attempt to activate it manually it gives me an LUA error. It ends up making a blank space where the plugin should display, and when I mouseover that location it also gives me an LUA error.

I can't give you the exact error right now because WoW decided it wanted me to download a few more gigs, however it should be easy to recreate. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Elk or DockingStation, but I posted it on both.

Great mod, and I'm glad to see it transitioning into Cataclysm.

Funny, so bliz thought ahead, that whole thing about shift clicking a buff to put the name in the chat frame after a /cancelaura does not work it fires the blocked addon frame. And rightful so because after i read what you had said about the /cancelaura and shiftclick on a elk buff frame... it hit me well if you can do that no reason you could not do a runslashcmd function with a getbuffname and ultimately make it so when you click a elk buff frame it runs the /cancelarua buffname. Bliz already beat us to that idea though... shift-clicking and deleting the time does not work so of course the aforementioned idea also would not work... i had my hopes up for a moment though :)

Yep, I just noticed this also. Since the change to add ranged/thrown weapon tench, I don't see poisons on any weapon now.
