Elephant
"Shoot... what did he say again? I just got disconnected."
"Didn't that folk already loot that rare item 10 minutes ago?"
"I really wish I could remember the name of the item linked on the guild chat yesterday at 9:00 PM."
...
Already been in one of these situations? Don't be annoyed anymore, here is the solution!
Solution to chat loss annoyance
Elephant logs the chat for you in the background even when you get disconnected. It saves the WHISPER & BATTLE.NET, RAID, INSTANCE & BATTLEGROUND, PARTY, GUILD, SAY, YELL and OFFICER chats separately, but also all general chats (General, Trade, LocalDefense, ...), custom chats you are currently on, achievements, loots and finally system messages (auctions, rolls, server going down, ...). You can easily go through all these logs, thanks to a straightforward interface displaying all the access buttons on the right side of the main window. You can access the options of the addon by typing /elephant and also bind a key to pop up the addon.
Elephant gives you the ability to copy up to 100,000 (yes, 100k) characters of logs to another application. A BBCode feature is even included, letting you copy/paste a chat with colors and links to an item database in a very quick and simple way to your favorite forum.
This is THE addon that you should install if you want to never forget what somebody told you in game. Be a pro of managing hell tells, go peacefully AFK for a few minutes, or be an awesome role player. Elephant is also perfectly designed for Guild Leaders, Officers and Raid Leaders particularly because it restores the chats after you've been disconnected.
Main features
- Logs the chats in the background, with a limit of 10,000 lines for each chat (Blizzard's default is 161 lines for everything).
- Saves the logs when you log out or get disconnected.
- Display the chats with timestamps, or using your Prat settings if you have it installed.
- Copy the chat and paste it in other applications (BBCode supported!), up to 100,000 characters.
- Save the chat and combat log in two different files on your computer (using the default Blizzard logging system).
Other features
- Use filters to avoid logging some of the custom channels you join.
- Enable/disable logging for each chat separately.
- Item links in logs are displayed in their proper color and are clickable.
- Player names in the main window are clickable.
- ...and much more!

Was the command removed or was it changed?
Talking about the Titanplugin:
works but the "label text" & "plugin text" is missing. You can enable them in the titanconfig but there is just the icon.
I do not believe the previous Elephant double-or-triple recorded lines because that type of chat existed in multiple frames. Has this been addressed by anyone else? Will you fix this?
Are you using Prat formating?
3.0.7-beta is out!
- Messages not logged when Prat formatting is enabled should be back.
- Removing "Force timestamp" option that is now useless
- It is now possible to toggle class colors in logs when Prat formatting is checked
- Changing explanations of the options above since they're not working exactly the same way now
2. I noticed a 1sec lag today at LK25 today (after updating from yesterday´s version to the current) everytime he shouts during the encounter. Besides prat this is the only other addon that could "interfere" with chat messages.
3. Could you be more specific about that new filter? Does it work in the same way as the standard filter for guild, yell, whisper etc?
4. About that realID unknown thing: Maybe add an option to replace the ID with a certain name through the addon perhaps? Create a screen similar to ratingbusters socket menu to display certain names instead of their realID so the addon always knows a name to show.
2. I'll give it a look. Are you using Prat formatting, or Elephant's default style?
3. What filter are you talking about? Elephant's filters or something else? FYI, there is a BIG description about filters on the Filters tab in the options. Do you think some information is missing? If you're talking about the Filters tab, they are used to avoid logging custom channels (not general ones, guild, whisper, ...) that match a specific pattern.
4. I'll give a look at RatingBuster and see if it is something I can -and want to- implement. Thanks for the idea!
2. I´m using prat but elephant´s default style. I only switched for 2 weeks because elephant didnt want to log with default enabled.
3. Yes, I´m talking about the elephant filter. I did read the describtion and hoped it could block chat from standard channels like yelling, if that did cause the 1sec lags. Guess I missunderstood your describtion then. Thanks for clearing this up :) I totaly forgot about the option to disable /y in the standard chat settings (using prat too long I guess).
Btw, is it possible to log only whispers and disable all the rest including the spam (in the chatlog.txt) when someone creates something? I´m only interested in the whispers.
2. Some messages were not logged when using Prat formatting. Should be fixed in 3.0.7-beta, you can give it a try after an update.
3. I couldn't reproduce that lag on my computer, are you able to try that with only Elephant enabled? I suppose it won't be easy on the Lich King, but if you can, it would be very helpful ;) I'm wondering if it really comes from Elephant since I don't see why it would do that.
For your additional question, it is not possible. Logging to files is using Blizzard's methods that do not let any customization on what is actually logged (ex: http://wowprogramming.com/docs/api/LoggingChat). It by the way reminds me to add a note about this in the tooltip options since I get this question quite regularly ;)
