Elephant
"Shoot... what did he say again? I just got disconnected."
"Didn't that folk already loot that rare item 10 minutes ago?"
"I really wish I could remember the name of the item linked on the guild chat yesterday at 9:00 PM."
...
Already been in one of these situations? Don't be annoyed anymore, here is the solution!
Solution to chat loss annoyance
Elephant logs the chat for you in the background even when you get disconnected. It saves the WHISPER & BATTLE.NET, RAID, INSTANCE & BATTLEGROUND, PARTY, GUILD, SAY, YELL and OFFICER chats separately, but also all general chats (General, Trade, LocalDefense, ...), custom chats you are currently on, achievements, loots and finally system messages (auctions, rolls, server going down, ...). You can easily go through all these logs, thanks to a straightforward interface displaying all the access buttons on the right side of the main window. You can access the options of the addon by typing /elephant and also bind a key to pop up the addon.
Elephant gives you the ability to copy up to 100,000 (yes, 100k) characters of logs to another application. A BBCode feature is even included, letting you copy/paste a chat with colors and links to an item database in a very quick and simple way to your favorite forum.
This is THE addon that you should install if you want to never forget what somebody told you in game. Be a pro of managing hell tells, go peacefully AFK for a few minutes, or be an awesome role player. Elephant is also perfectly designed for Guild Leaders, Officers and Raid Leaders particularly because it restores the chats after you've been disconnected.
Main features
- Logs the chats in the background, with a limit of 10,000 lines for each chat (Blizzard's default is 161 lines for everything).
- Saves the logs when you log out or get disconnected.
- Display the chats with timestamps, or using your Prat settings if you have it installed.
- Copy the chat and paste it in other applications (BBCode supported!), up to 100,000 characters.
- Save the chat and combat log in two different files on your computer (using the default Blizzard logging system).
Other features
- Use filters to avoid logging some of the custom channels you join.
- Enable/disable logging for each chat separately.
- Item links in logs are displayed in their proper color and are clickable.
- Player names in the main window are clickable.
- ...and much more!

Is it just me, or is ChatLog blocking the ability to right-click Spam Report people? As far as I can tell, seeing as this is the only AddOn I've changed within the last couple of days, ChatLog is soley responsible for my inability to select (or even SEE) "Report Spam" in the right-click menu for chat box names... My game wasn't doing this before I installed ChatLog.
ok, I have got an ace account , wait for some days. I will add translation patch in acesvn.
Is there a way to keep Chatlog from saving all the "garbage" text that comes from using GuildEventManager (GEM)?
I noticed this eats up a lot of file space, and disabling those channels prevents logging actual chatting that may go on in them. Also, when selecting the log size, what is the value that corresponds with the number? Lines? file size?
New release out, compatible with 2.1 (should be :p).
Thanks wolftankk for the translations, I will add them in a quick update tomorrow ;) Please note that the localization files will probably change a lot in the next versions. It will maybe need a new translation, but I know you will be here when it'll be needed ;)
add and fixed zhCN local .. CWOW will update TBC....

As sag_ich_nicht said, you have to move your WoW folder out of C:\Program Files\. This is the only way for the logs to be saved under Vista at the moment.
Note: I am working on the AddOn on the Wowace repository, it is now logging system messages (connections/disconnections, auction house messages, server messages, ...).
this is a general addon issue under vista, move your WoW folder out of C:\Program Files\ and it'll be fixed.
Is there some sort of issue with WoW Logs and Vista?
For some reason I don't get any logs saved (and yes the buttons are checked) when I run WoW on a Vista machine.
It works fine on my XP-Pro machine so I'm strongly tempted to lay the blame at Vista's feet.
Either way I'd like to know if you're aware of a fix?
TY
then I kindly ask you to add the button back. :)
I didn't, but it musn't be a lot ;)
How big is the memory usage difference(Did you check with the new monitoring tools on the PTR)?
Actually I'd rather prefer not implement this button for memory-using concerns. But I'll do it if it is really annoying for most of the users of ChatLog.
there are people who do not use titan OR fubar because they don't like them.
It can't be too hard to give us users a choice about what we want to use to call up chatlog, now can it be? ;P
for some reason the minimap button [not the chatlog button] disappeared. how do i bring it back?
Hehe nice to here that you love the little button I made in v2.2 ;)
The thing is that now ChatLog uses the FuBar, and thus has a proper icon on the FuBar that you just have to click to toggle ChatLog. I would suggest that you try FuBar (muuuuch more better than TitanBar imo) and to give me some feedback.
I'll then see if it is better to put the button back or to keep everything as it is at the moment :p
do you mean the button on the text-panel? I really miss that too
How can get the combat log ingame? I want wo post the combat log with copy & paste to other windows like raid ect.
Can i do this with chatlog?
thx for help
