EasySerum is an addon to help you do the daily quest Troll Patrol: The Alchemist's Apprentice in Zul'Drak which gives Argent Crusade reputation.

When Alchemist Finklestein whispers you the name of an item to find, such as "Pickled Eagle Egg", the addon will print a message that says "Pickled Eagle Egg: Right side, Case 1, Row 2, Item 2".

EasySerum avoids the top row of shelves which are inaccessible. Also, this prefers the right side (when looking at the cauldron from the entrance) - since this is nearest to Finklestein's Cauldron. Cases and Items are numbered left-to-right and Rows are numbered top-to-bottom.

Simple and effective, no more alt-tabbing to wowhead for this quest.

Important Note: This addon currently only works in English, German, Traditional Chinese (Taiwan), Russian, French and Spanish.

Ah, it seems EasySerum numbers shelves from the top... For me the natural thing to do is to count from the bottom. I haven't rechecked if it works this way, as I switched to TrollPatroll which does count the same way I do :-) Thanks anyway for taking care of this addon.

Thanks for an excellent addon that has helped me daily! I have one suggestion for future versions: This addon could provide a confirmation/error sound when an item is picked up. Perhaps a "ka-ching" for correct items, and a "brrr" error sound for wrong items. Not a neccessary addition of course, but it would be very convinient. My coffee-induced jitters sometimes make me click the item next to the right one (user error, I know).

I have been leveling my army of alts and have always dreaded this quest. I was going to skip this quest but then though maybe I would write my own little addon. I looked up the quest online to get some more info and found that some one had already wrote one to my amazement. I installed this addon on both my account, I have separate WoW folders for my accounts and little skimmed the post by other users. Here is my suggestion and comments for use of this addon.

1) Install this addon
2) Remember that as you walk in the building towards the quest giver LEFT is to the left and RIGHT is to the right as you walk in.
3) Get ready to fail the first time and maybe the next couple as per learning curve to figure out what addon is telling you. Some will get it on first try others may take a few tries.
4) The case count is clockwise and the first one to the left as you walk into the section where the cases are at.
5) Rows are from the top to the bottom.
6) Items are from left to right as you look at the case.

Doesn't work in French - and probably some other langages neither.

The problem is that French add a space before the exclamation sign (and any "double punctuation" (ie. ; : and ! ) for that matter), so your gsub() pattern is incorrect for us. Also note that this extra space should be a non-breakable space. However, I'm unsure if WoW use a regular space or a nbsp in this case - I do know it uses nbsp's on a few occasions, like recipes names for example.

Not that it really needs to be said again, but this addon is fantastic. It helps to avoid a ton of frustration.

The only thing I'd change is to make the text pop in the middle of the screen, like the quest text does. However, this is a very minor issue.

Addon worked beautifully. This quest was so frustrating. I printed out a picture of each item and its location, but still failed. I finally succeeded once I used this. Great job.

So far I found two typing errors in the german localization.
Please use the following text instead of the old one:

Loved this addon. Quite simply, it works and should be considered a must have for anyone farming Argent Crusade Rep. maybe now I will finish the set in under 20 minutes

As it is, every reported "wrong location" that I've investigated is a user error, where he/she failed to count case 1-2-3-4 from LEFT to RIGHT, on both sides. The common user error is where he counted case 4-3-2-1 on the LEFT side, where the user assumed case 1 is the nearest case.

LEFT = left side (looking at quest giver from entrance)
RIGHT = right side (looking at quest giver from entrance)
I don't know how people can get that wrong too, but I've seen people confuse left and right as well.

I wanted to see if the previous comment pointed out a problem. I had failed the quest before I found this addon, but I really wanted the XP and so I was determined to see if I could prove that this addon did / did not work. I ran the quest ten times (I got the last ingredient and then let the quest fail, so I could repeat it). Every item, every time, it guided me to the right spot. I don't know what's considered a rare ingredient, but it nailed all of them. Because that quest is more or less the "make or break" quest of the whole timed run, this addon is very useful. I will certainly rate it highly and be telling other people about it. Thanks Xinhuan. This is one of those addons that is (currently) useful for just one thing / quest, but does that one thing very well.

Cases and Items are numbered left-to-right and Rows are numbered top-to-bottom.

For the left side items, you probably mis-counted the cases, as there is a case on the extreme left, and the nearest case is case 4. There is no issue with the addon, unless you aren't on an English server, and different locales have different positioning?

It failed on the third and fifth today, clearly its more dynamic than it was before, this more is not useful atm as the rare ones are the only ones hard to find and it isn't getting them right anymore.

I fails on the 4th request for me, both times he asked for the shrunken dragon's claw and there is nothing where the mod says to go. I complete it manually by knowing where it is, but what about the mod? Is there a way to have it check every day for changes?

Since ive installed this (v1.00) i ran it twice, and it was right twice. Unless something broke in 1.01 (which i have just installed) then this is working.
All i can say is at least someones coded something that stopped me from banging my head against a wall with this quest.
