Table of Contents

Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.
- Chat Tab look-n-feel modifications
- Paging through chat tabs with the scroll wheel

Kidding, right? It's Blizzard own option located in tab context menu, it has nothing to do with addons.

Got a question, is it supposed to work when you click on a persons name to send them a message or when you click on a channel in chat window, cause its not working if its supposed to

Can you please help me with the chat log?
Where is it stored and how can I access it?
Because if it is the .txt file in ...\World of Warcraft\Logs then I really cannot access it.
I have it enabled in game.

BTW, if you enter empty string in "Whisper from", it throw an error.

My main reason for installing The addon is that i was looking for something that would add a border, change border thickness and color, more visual options which Chatter does do. Im only reporting issues that dont seem to be reported, mainly the background disappearing when chat windows are placed on some parts of sunn - viewport art's viewport. Like i stated in my comments, some of the things could be options i havent discovered yet. Was just looking to confirm if they were options or bugs :) which i thank you for answering that they were options that i need to enable/disable...now...about my chat window's background being disabled when placed on my viewport... ;)

Just downloaded this mod and I love the options of it compaired to other chat mods...however...I cant get it to work. Number of bugs I've found and just wondering if anyone has code fixes or options that I cant seem to find. It doesnt announce when my dailies reset at 3am, this just might be an option I havent found. One of my officers has his name succeded by my GM's name such as this - "[MikeTheOfficer][DanTheGM] says: Raid invites going out" not sure if its all officers or just him, but its a little strange. Finally a conflict with Sunn - Viewpart Art: background color set by chatter disappears when the chat window is positioned over any viewport but not in the bottom left part of the screen. I have my chat and combat next to each other and part of the combat's bg disappeares. If anyone has any tips or fixes would be greatly appreciated.

It does not have any kind of such option. The chat highlight is working for channels only, not system messages.

It's Alt Linking module. Configure it to your taste or just disable it.

On a more common note, why you've installed addon and come here complaining before you crawled through it's options and understood every one of them?

You need to copy chat-cache.txt across your characters to maintain channel orders and colors.

I don't suppose you've thought about adding a channel ordering feature have you?
I've used Chatter to rename a few channels but, this removes the channel number. It would be nice when I move character to character if the common (custom) channels were all in the same order.

I had the same problem as some people on here. When I downloaded it, it worked fine. But after my next login, I couldn't see guild chat at all, or any outgoing messages. I played around with the settings and found that everytime I had checked the option "Color Difficulty by Level" under the "Player Names" option in the addon's menu, that is when I would have problems. But if I uncheck that box, everything works fine. Maybe a possible bug? Anyway, I hope this helps some people! Other than that, I love this addon!

I've found an addon, http://www.wowace.com/addons/thanks-for-the-hint/
But it conflicting with Chatter, as you could expect.
If it is posible, i'd like to have similar functionality integrated into Chatter.

still wondering how to turn off chat history, so when ur typing and running it doesn't select another message that youve already sent.

My only problem with this, is how do u disable the scrollback feature when your chatting. If in combat and chatting and you try to move backwards or what not it will just scroll through your last messages and delete the one you were typing. Spent awhile just cant figure that prblem out.
But beyond that....this is a great Addon!!!
