Cartographer 3.0

Table of Contents

This is a map addon for World of Warcraft that replaces the map and offers shiny features.

The idea is for it to work very much like Google Maps, only in-game.

Cartographer 3.0 is brand new, "experimental" version of Cartographer.

Dalaran is back :)
I made some experimental patches and brought instance maps back to life.

I would be happy if this can persuade ckknight to resume his incredible work on this great addon.

- fixed infinite loading loop in getSizes() causing to show no instance maps!

- switching between levels of an instance currently only works with right-click menu and you have to be in that instance
- changed Go to menu hierachy

I got a message in game stating that another player was using an updated version of Cartographer 3.0 today v0.11.3

Anyone know where to find it?

I am constantly having when i zone into some instances or raids i get thousands of LUA errors, sometimes a reloadui fixes this othertimes i have to disable the addon completely.Is there a solution for this, or is an update required? Please advise

Everything is working just fine. I LOVE cartographer! It works just really awesome. I have Questhelper, Auctioneer, Gatherer, and SexyMap. Cartographer 3.0 does not show the Instance maps! I go into the left bottom button and click on every instance map, but nothing happens. It seems as if they are not there. They might not be added to the map. There are the battleground maps, but just not the instance maps! note to author: Just add the maps like you did the way with the battlegrounds. That might work! Just add them in a square, all the way around the whole map in a square. Lie a border to the current maps. That might work! But I don't know, I'm not a programmer :)
Good luck! And great program. I will donate 10 dollars if you get that fixed. It is not terribly difficult to alt-tab (cmd + M for mac to windowize the full screen WOW program BTW) out to a internet browser. But It just sucks because you can get left behind when your mates go on without you or you are needed when your mates are getting squished while you are surfing the net lol.

There is an addon called Carbonite that allow you to do the same, you have to go the main site to get it though, it worked pretty good but i wouldn't really recommend it as the other day it went crazy and then stopped working lol, but its up to you, could have been something that i'm using that caused the problem

I know you wanted some one to take over this add on. But plz plz plz can you give it one more go at updating it? It is the best map in the game. I havent found any other that lets you zoom in and out on the terrain.

anthonyddd, you can also go into video settings in WoW and change your resolution 'till you can get to edges then make cart. smaller and change your resolution back.

Ok, finally able to add notes again (thanks to "osgald") but, still can't edit or delete them. Anyone know where these notes are stored? Thought maybe I could go in and manually edit/delete them. Tried to make a note off to the side then use search in the WoW folder to find the name of the note I'd made.....no luck.

I'm also getting the big yellow circle that ya can't click in. Looked in "MoveAnything" as "Xian-Pu" suggested but, couldn't find how to add the buttons they talked about. Usually if I relog it goes away.

I really like this add-on even with all the issues it has...thanks for any help

Any luck with the editing or deleting issue of notes? I followed osgald's fix and it worked like a charm, but still having the same editing issue you mentioned here. Anyone have ideas?

Ok,I used to LOVE this mod, prior to the latest patch. After that,I started getting all kinds of errors. Tried re-downloading and it TOTALLY changed the mod. The one I had before allowed me to have a resizeable map that I could move around and place anywhere on my screen. The map also "scrolled" like a google map.I could drag my mouse around and see different areas. Now I have just a tiny, non-moveable, non-draggable mini map and when I hit M it takes me to a big map on another screen. WTH?????

I like the addon, but it loosing points on my list of good addons.
Thats becouse zooming to instances don´t work and havent done so in quite a while now.
I have tryed to reinstalled and so on.

Maybe any of you here know why and if there is a solution?

I've managed to expand my map beyond the width of my screen in both directions and can't seem to make it smaller again. Happens in both full screen and windowed mode, regardless of how big I make the window. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but still comes up the same size. Is there a way to fix this?

I couldn't agree more. This version (while pretty to look at) does not cut the mustard for me. In Dalaran it refused to show me the city map instead it repeatedly shows Crystalsong Forest. Frequently I open the map to do a quick location check while auto-running and holding the right mouse button to steer. This results in the map dimming sections I need to see, not refreshing QuestHelper icons/waypoints, and sometimes scrolling to a zone I'm not even in. The QuestHelper button (normally at the top right) gets lost and ends up all over the screen with the text from the button elsewhere. There is also an odd 'overlay' that appears at times. It is sort of a circle with what appears to be WoW characters. The toons are very faint but the circle is perfectly visible and in the way and I am unable to find a way to turn it off. In the old map a right click brought you to continent level, now I have to scroll 100x to find where I want to be.

All around there are too many things that this version does that can not be configured, controlled, or turned off. It still needs a lot of work in the UI department. The simplicity of the map has been overridden by a lot of unnecessary options that can become quite cumbersome.

Note that the Version Supported info in the info window above STILL states v.3.1.0 . Cart 3 hasn't been updated since before the new patch came out. ck?? Any chance of just a quick little blurb of "I'm working on it - hope to have it updated in some way by (fill in date here)"? or just a note in the description panel letting us know that it's going to be updated sometime in the future? I really miss using this addon. A LOT, but it's unusable in its' current condition. :( I have reverted to traditional Cartographer, and hope to see a version update for Cart 3 so I can start using it again!

After some time tinkering with this addon, I found a way to add the missing textures in the argent tournament. The Isle of Conquest is now in too.
I'll look into instance maps but I cant promise anything.

I'm having the same problem. I finally renabled questhelper's arrow, but I wish this one worked, because QH's is too big.
