This is by far, the most useful addon I have. Playing on illidan was driving me nuts with all the spam... I had blocked every chinese message in chat which worked for a couple of days, until wow wouldn't let me block any more players...
Don't know if this is something BlockChinese can handle, but since 6.0.3 I've been getting whispers with kanji and such as if the addon isn't even active. It works for the chat channels just fine, but in whispers it doesn't seem to work anymore.
Open the BlockChinese.lua file in a text editor and remove the "--" in front of "CHAT_MSG_WHISPER" on line 19. There's a comment explaining why it isn't blocked per default.
Thanks for putting this together Ketho. I hate how players have taken to placing a single hanzi/kanji character in their trade/yell macros, since it'll make the font nearly twice as large as normal, thus increasing their visibility.
I see you're on Boulderfist, I played on that realm when it was first created way back in the day. The guild I was in even managed to get a couple of realm first kills before falling completely apart at the release of Naxxramas40. People were missing their old, geared characters too much.
I didn't know people would abuse chinese characters just to increase their visibility :o (It might still work for japanese and korean characters since they're not blocked anymore)
I only started playing when Burning Crusade launched, but I might remember that guild if it was still around. So ... what was the name of your old guild there?

Posted Oct 30, 2014It wasn't around in Burning Crusade, as it had disbanded by then, with everyone going back to their old mains or moving on to new realms.
It's probably a Japanese/Korean character causing it then. By chance it started up again today, so I grabbed a screenshot so you can see what I mean:
