ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Can I be the first to say w00000000000000000t?!?!?!?
I tried out a few bag mods, was unimpressed with how much HARDER it became to extract any sensation of sanity from the big mess most mods made of my bags. Until I found AI, with virtual bags, of course.
When I finally stumbled into AI, it was already 2.07(a?) and I was sad that it was so hard to create rules for individual itemIDs just to get things where they really ought to be, and that it sounded like you'd done away with much better functionality.
Now, we have the best of both worlds! A rule for my outfit() items, and assignable categories for my Large Brilliant Shard! I was just lucky enough to see it FIRST on curse, under the updated downloads box!
Well, let me be the first to say, Arkayenro, there are a LOT of happy people out there today. :) Keep up the good work!
Excuse my faulty english, bue I've done an awful thing... UPDATED TO 2.07a
All cached data from 1.45 were erased.. great start...
First : I've lost almost all of my presets, of my items, the default assignement was totaly wrong, I LOST most of my changes with the update.
Second : many features are missing :
One awesome feature I'll miss with the old version is the green frame that you have add to the new version, showing easyly were the item are.
So please, please... add your wonderfull new features to the old version, and don't take the good things out, as you just do with your new Version 2.0....
One of the big feature would be to add a 'search' field, enlighting items in realtime just as you type...
So, big deal with the new 2.07a version, I've installed it to fast, I've lost everything rolling back to old version... I have to re-set again all my presets.
Poor me, 1.45 was so good !
BTW ... I agree with Thanosrod
Hi there !! Anyone know how I can turn OFF "Compress and Restack" Im used to put my stuff at a special spot in my bag. But ArkInventory keeps moving it around. Possible to change it?
-Cheers
um, don't click on it? compress and restack is a manual choice and it's the only time that AI will actually move an item.
oh and for those that liked the categories in 1.45 and didn't like the rules in 2.xx, i found a way to add them back.
rules are still there and any custom or pt categories will get converted into a rule but your items will retain the categories you have in 1.45 when upgraded.
(btw, it only converts them properly if you go from 1.45 to 2.08 so don't upgrade to a 2.xx version until that one gets released)
This is just what I was looking for! Works like a charm, me love you long time! Merlene-Twisting Nether!
Just downloaded and installed 2.07A and now I get the following errors before I even ry to open the bags...
Arcinventory 2.07\Arkinventory.lua:6189 Attempt to index field 'global" (a nil value)
and
Arkinventory\Arkinventory.lua 1482 invalid bad id : 1
Any ideas... I was using somewhere around `1.3 and it worked fine.
Mikw
Hey, I just wondered if it's possible to turn the GUI off when I click my bags? I want to be able to use the regular WoW bags, but when I need to search for something on an alt, I hit a macro or a /command and it shows the GUI. Is that possible? Many thanks.

nope

main menu > hidden frames > hide blizzard frames - make sure thats unticked, then the normal blizzard bags will work like normal then set a keybinding for ArkInventory Bags (i use Shift+F12) so you can always open the AI windows while they're "disabled"
I am seconding Thanosrod's post. A classic version would be very awesome. I am also someone else who has had to look to other inventory mods.
Mychale: The only one I can think of that sorts and lets you do categories is TBag. I sure don't like it though, ArkInv did it so much better and cleaner. The new rule system is, at the least, way too complicated.
I'm not trying to flame here, just wanted to mainly agree that someone ought to start up a "1.45"-esque classic Ark. That would make me happy.
Are there any mod makers here that could start up an "ArkInventory Classic" with the 1.45 style categories? No offense Arkayenro, the Arkinv that you originally created was brilliant, and thank you for that, but these new "rules" are garbage and make the mod more trouble then it's worth. Hopefully someone out there can salvage what was once a must have mod.
Can anyone reccommend an alternative Addon they are using now? With similar functionality as ArkInventory?
After creating all my rules, once adding an Item to a rule, I cannot seem to remove it, or assign it to another rule. I even removed the ID from the rule, but it is still showing assigned to the old one.
Since the new rules issue added to the mod I can no longer use this, way too confusing, and horrible to add all the new required rules. May check it out again in the future releases/updates.
Sorry for abandoning you Arkayenro, and as everyone here has stated, its your mod to do as you wish, and I enjoyed it up to now.
Since your going this way with it, I have to go my way, and I wish you the best with your updates in the future.
I find a bug.. When the first time you check one of your character items in offline mode, It works fine. But if you switch to another character, some items icon will be blank, either blank when you switch to the first character you check. Tooltip still work, just the icon..
it is just that it requires alot more rules, easier to assign something a catagorie (I.E. Jewlcrafring) than have to make a rule Jewlcrafting and attach it to the JC bag. Thanks
Why cant there be 2 versions one with rules and one with categories, or make a way to disable the rules to activate Categories in the options some how. The rules are a bit more complicated and time consuming to set up. if there is not a way then that is fine, this is a great mod and thanks for the work, but 1.45 will have to do as categories is still used in that version, until Blizz breaks it as they do all things
i'm sorry but i'm not that great at coding, i don't think i could make both ways work at the same time. and yes 1.45 will become broken when patch 2.2 comes out (i tested the current version on the PTR and it needs a lot of changes to make it work again)
Just echoing what Aluthiel wrote about the rules totally bombing on a Mac. I've also seen this happen with UnitActionBars so its somewhere in the render of the window.
Unfortunately, I've reported this bug many, many times to Blizzard but they have yet to fix it...
..reverting to 1.45... sigh
the problem with rules crashing macs has been found, you should download 2.07a if you use a mac (it's the only change)
I'm not sure i understood the new rule system, although i'm sure its great. I had to download the old on and keep using it. Also the inventory screen was too big. I was wondering if I could fix that size.
Assign Rule >
This would allow users to recreate the way categories worked if they so desire, as well as broaden the addon's overall popularity and potential. Another suggestion would be to allow those categories to be checked as global or local (all characters or just active one). Looking forward to future development! -Aqua
