ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
So I just posted a ticket about the errors from the PTR. I hope its not too wall of text but just let me know how you want them.
I see that AI is loaded, but it will not come up in the UI.
youre missing a library file, AceSerializer-3.0, but that is in the zip file that curse generate when i checked it.
all the rest of the errors are just a cascade because ai stopped loading at that first error
I d/led from the other files section, the ArkInventory-3.06.04_LEGION_BETA file but I don't see the lib.
I also just d/led the Live version to see if it was there but I don't see it there either.
Just d/led it from WoWace and works fine. Now I will start asking Rules questions.
please note that the 3.06.04 beta has a *lot* of changes in it, stuff is bound to break, please lodge a ticket if you get any errors or notice something wrong.
also, please copy your arkinventory saved variables file over from live again as some stuff cant be converted from the previous legion betas (youll just lose some settings if you dont)
I'm confused but I admit I have not read all these comments.
I d/led 3.06.94 beta and installed it on the Beta.
I have so many errors that I am not sure you want me to ticket them. Is this maybe for the PTR? If its for Legion Beta just let me know you want my results.
Heya
I love your addon!
I have a question regarding categories/bars/width settings.
When you go to controls and specify for bank or gbank to use bag's settings, then it also forces them to be the same width. Ala I want my bag's width to be 11 but bank to be 20. However when you set them independently under settings, then all the categories/bar settings have to be redone (which is a huge pain in the arse if you have a ton).
Thanks
i know. thats why i broke up the settings into style and layout.
you want the same layout (what categories go on which bars) for both bag and bank but a different style (window width)
it should now have the same layout as the bag, but its own style (larger width)
Thanks for the reply.
I'm using version 3.05.12. When I go config->settings->bank: I can't manage to find the design option you mention. I see the window, bars, items sections with their relevant styles.
When I click controls there is only the "settings" drop down box which also doesnt contain design or a profilename.
And profiles just contains the default addon profile functionality most addons have.

sorry, the new stuff is in the legion version, you can play with in on the PTR, or wait until the invasion patch drops on live servers (which i think is this wednesday)
Aha! :)
Awesome changes coming then. <3
By the way I was wondering. I started using Arkinv when adibags started going in a direction which I disliked, however there is still one feature in adibags that I sorely miss: You could r-click on a category name and it would dump everything in that category into the bank and vice versa.
Would we ever see that functionality come to Arkinv?
i know some people have wanted to be able to move an entire bar into the bank but ai doesnt have anything clickable, although the bar names might work but i dont think i keep a record of what items end up in which bars, just the categories, so it might be a bit messy
Just to be clear on a top post, and in order to help others, if your live settings don't appear to correctly transfer in terms of Rules assigned to Bars, make sure to fiddle with the Config -> Controls -> Layout because here it incorrectly set a default one but changing it to another it fixed.
its possible the conversion to style/layout had issues in that version but im not sure any more as my current version has so many changes to that and everything else in it now. see if it still happens when 3.06.04 is released.
Something broke recently and I can't transfer settings from live to beta by copying the lua file from WTF/. The rules transfer correctly, but they are not assigned properly to the correct Bars. Any way to fix it?
silently or generated an error? the last beta has been out for a while now so the code hasnt changed.
can you check the control options and see if you have everything assigned there?
Ah. True, the Layout control was incorrectly transfered as a default and changing it fixed it. You might want to check this with a test of transferring your config from live because it might be a bug/quirk you want to avoid.
is it possible to disable arkinventory for the bank, but still use it for the bags?
config > controls > bank > override
turn it off. you may also want to disable save and monitor if you dont want ai to have anything to do with the bank
Is it possible to set the maximum height of a bar? Because my bank is very height but left and right is a lot of empty room to show some of the items.
it should spread out on its own to fit the width. unless in a row only one bar has a lot of items and all the others only have a few, that can potentially make it very high but even if i put a max height theres no where for it to go if the width has already been reached.
you could also set the window height so the scroll bar kicks in
