ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I'm seeing some bag content is not grouped by custom categories soon after I login. If I wait and open bags again, then the categories are used to arrange the bag content. Sometimes I have to /reload to get the bag customization to show correctly. There are no LUA errors.
For some reason, turning off Carbonite maps causes Arkinventory in my game to not load at all. Its weird trying to figure this one out.
It no longer seems to automatically refresh where the empty inventory slots go when I sell an item from a category? Nor does it automatically compress the spaces and keep things organized alphabetically, and if equipping a new item will swap the item being replaced into the spot of the item being equipped, possibly out of order or in the wrong category.
First, thx for keeping this AMAZING addon alive :)
Among other things I like that you can colour unusable items. Is there any way to colour armor that I could use but that would not make sense to use? For example, is it possible for a pala to have all cloth/leather/mail armor coloured red? Thx in advance!
Also getting the issue with MASSIVE FPS lag (WoW essentially freezes) when opening mail in the mailbox, currently using the latest (3.06.15) version, had it in previous versions post the prepatch updates too (never had the issue before prepatch though).
No issues what so ever if ArkInventory isn't turned on, and even as the only addon loaded, the problem persists.
Let me know if there's anything I can do to help trying to fix it!
I have the same problem, but i also noticed another thing, i can run with 100+ fps, but when my cursor is over an item it drops below 10 FPS (often), i have tried to investigate this a bit, found out with ArkInventory + ElvUI alone the fps drops to around 40-60 when hovering over items so tooltip shows.
I then moved on to opening the Mailbox, the moment i open the mailbox the fps drops for ½ a sec or less down to around 60 but jumps back to 90-110 (jumping up and down)
So think the opening of mailbox, is due to the bags is drawn when you open it, and then jumps back to "normal" again..
But what is annoying tho is the low fps i get when hovering over items, since i really do like to be able to see the tooltip immediately and not stuttering, but this problem only really happen when i run all addons, but it can be due to a nother addon that is generating error, cause now and then i get a popup telling me that an addon have generated massive error, and then ask me if i want to disable or ignore.. so think we have to wait til the authors have fixed bugs in the various add-ons :) And after all i think i run around 70 addons total hehe
how much mail do you have?
anyone having a problem with default profile not saving to ALL toons on same server and/or b-net account?
every toon I log on to I have to reset up Ark. /cry that's a lot of toons
Well, since I'm not a programmer, I decided to just copy my working version of Arkinventory from beta to live and it works just fine, with only one error, which I will include here. All categories are there, nothing to set back up or anything else. Since the instructions on the new version are so complicated, I'm just going to use this one until a simpler one comes along, I think.

It would be super helpful if there was a way to have custom categories set by character. Even more helpful if they could be copied over from one character to another and then edited or deleted as needed.
If this is possible, could someone please show me how? I've spent a few hours playing around with various setting changes and no matter what I do, I can't seem to set it all up on one character and then try to create a separate "profile" on a second character to then edit, without changes being made on the main character's settings.
(I like to make "current armor" and "current weapons" categories along with multiple other things that I sort the current character's gear into. I have tons of alts though, so if I'm setting things globally, LFR DK gear gets set as current on my Mythic geared warrior.. )
I know I can make a "current weapons" category for each character, but with 1 of each class on my primary server, that list of custom categories becomes rather long, especially if I create unique ones for all of the various custom categories I generally create. (current weapons, current armor, current trinkets/accessories, Timewalking armor, tier 1, tier 2, tier 3, tier 4, etc..)
Arkinventory seems to work for Bags and Guildbank, but the Bank is not recognized.
Has a Question Mark where the Username should be and everything is empty, no grid, just black.
Delete your cache folder? Always a good idea after a patch.
I did, but was worse than before, tried to set bank control to standard instead of my own profile, that worked. Think i have to build for the bank a new profile.
thanks
I bet these settings are the stumbling block

They take some time getting used to and errors sometimes interfere with the correct tuning process.
The author of the addon needs flexibility. That's why they were implemented. It takes time to iron out all the kinks.
So I assume that when the sort option "On Window Open" is selected, opening your bag checks every item you have to make sure it's in the right place. A minor issue with this that's been bugging me is the fraction of a second of lag that comes with this - petty I know.
"Sort Instantly" on the other hand doesn't seem to suffer from this, but unfortunately it still auto sorts even when the bag is open: making selling items to a vendor a pain...
So: maybe make an option to sort automatically in the background, but when the bag is actually open, turn the autosorting off.
That aside I've enjoyed using this addon since wotlk, thanks for making it.
There are some things which reduce addon performance like multiple rules and rules relying on searching in tooltip text.
Custom categories for items were implemented partially for the sake of alleviating the problem.
This Addon is causing some issues with my interface, for example it unchecks my pets in the pet journal. To clarify, OP is referring to "battle pets collections tab", where the filters for families etc keep unchecking themselves, resulting in no pets being shown. Would be nice if this problem gets fixed because I dont wanna play without this Addon :<
Is it really ArkInventory? I was wondering what was doing that. And some addon also unchecks things in toys tab too.
