ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
Is there a trick to getting the name to show up at the top of each section? Or is this a current bug?
Suggestion: I'd love be able to set anchor point for stack numbers. This is because the game's cursor glove is pointing from bottom right to top left and when you put the cursor on top of an icon (the finger pointing in the middle) in inventory it covers the stack numbers.
Can't assign items to categories. Will that be fixed?
try 30700 beta 3 and see if that fixes it
Yes. God yes finally. Beta 3 rules. Thank you Mister!
Getting a message at login that says the addon is attempting to load US English translations, my frame rate drops to almost nothing during its subsequent attempts to load (sometimes it fails, sometimes it gets it on the 5th try). Don't know why this is happening but it really inhibits my load time. Any thoughts or solutions?
not sure, the translation code has dropped down to only needing herbalism and mining and gets them from either an item lookup or two tooltips neither of which should cause any fps drops - plus the gap in between each try is 5 seconds where it does absolutely nothing
That's strange. A friend of mine indicated he is having the same fps issue, and his is a customized interface so much different than mine, but he uses arkinventory, so I may have made that assumption. I have bugsack installed and it's showing no bugs, so the only thing that was out of the normal was the attempts to load the English translations. It may be something else, but not sure how to diagnose what's happening to be sure, unfortunately.
Ok, this time it failed after the 5th attempt and I got a message that it failed WOW_SKILL_MINING. Also am getting Bag[2] in location [1] is unknown, queueing for rescan. Bags are grummlepack, Kor'kron supply satchel, embersilk bag and dragonsilk bag.
I'm getting an error from AI every time I leave combat, of all things.

should be fixed in 30700 beta 3
I have mixed results with profiles.
Same profile works fine on most of the characters, looks like default one on others.
The last update seemed to break the ability for me to assign items to different or custom categories. I've also lost one of my custom categories that was assigned to a number in my bag interface. It is still under options custom category but I don't see it when I right click an item (my other 2 custom categories are still there). I can't assign items to it and I can't assign bag space to it. It was working until the recent update to ark inventory that added the profile support.
Exactly the same issue I mentioned earlier.
Greetings.
What issue? Is there a resolution coming?
I am getting a lot of errors in various circumstances, not sure what to report. The long and short of it is this addon has been central to my playstyle for years (thank you).
I will review bugs on github and see whether I can add something of value there.
Hey my friend - I've been using your addOn for YEARS.
I think it is the most awesome addOn there is.
Recently there was a bunch of updates and it indicates, that you're working on it right now.
I reinstalled ArkInventory from scratch. Wanted to make new rules for legion, since all the garrison crap is not needed anymore.
So:
I go to EDIT MODE.
Click on the SECOND BORDER.
Assign a new category (e.g. Mounts)
Now I normally chose all the items I want to be placed in the second border and click on them and set their category on "Mounts".
That always worked for me.
It was a bit of work to assign every item to a certain category. But it worked for me.
Now it doesnt do shit anymore.
I can assign a category to a new border.
I can set a new category to an item.
But it wont move. It will stay at the old place.
Why is that.
Drives me crazy man.
Greetings.
Is it possible to get Lockpicking items added to Rogue class category? thanks
Firstly, thank you for continuing to support this addon - I've used it for several years.
For the Legion release versions, I've not been able to access my bank - it's just a black screen. When I change the layout from character-bank to character-bag, it shows the items, but sorting does not work (even if I turn it back to character-bank) and when I click edit mode the bar numbers do not come up to allow editing. Is this a known issue that's being worked on, or do I need to nuke the site (aka .lua file) from orbit and start from scratch on all my characters? (please don't tell me I need to start from scratch >.>;)
If I use the newest beta, none of my bags will load at all, just showing 'ERR' for all my slots.
Thank you for your prompt responses!
can you go into workarounds, there should be an option in there to disable threading, once that done try opening the bank, you should get a lua error this time around that will point to where the issue is
v3.06.17 has the workaround settings of 'Frame Level', 'Zero Size Bag' and 'In-Combat Yielding'. All of these are currently enabled.
