ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua

Thank you! <3
I gave this addon a few weeks after 7.0 to get reworked and came back and am happy to say it's all working. I had to redo categories but that was minor. The rules stayed.
Thanks!
Is it normal for there to be a 3-5 second "freeze"/"delay" every time I open my bag? I love the addon but it does get pretty frustrating when you go in and out of your bag....
Thanks
Oh I wanted to add that it is also happening to my buddy who recommended me this addon a while back.
Do you have a lot of rules? I have a decent PC but with only a couple rules the bags open about as fast as expected (instantly). I had a friend who had the same problem as you and he had a ton of rules running
possibly if you have (re)sorting set to on bag open
how did you disable the auto sorting on bag open I have the same problem
just go to settings-> settings-> styles/layouts-> default - bag
Just installed this addon - love it!
I find that there is a bit of delay when dragging things around in my "bags" though. Is there a setting I can change to speed this up?
I adore this brilliant add-on and it helps immensely in keeping a tidy set of bags. Major thumbs up!
I installed this add-on about a week ago, but one thing seems to be bugged, and I think this used to work: creating a profile for each character. I have now been fidgeting with this for the past two hours, and no matter what I do, making changes to one char's bag settings seems to change these setting for all the other chars as well, even though I have created several profiles in the profile tab and have made sure each char uses a different one. Regardless, if I make changes to a bag's settings, these settings will take place on my other char as well. Say if I have bag 3 set up for tailoring + cloth on my Mage and I change it to Herbs + Alchemy on my Druid, this change will have happened to my Mage's bag 3 when I log back on to the Mage, even though they use different profiles in the profile tab.
:(
I also tried deleting everything named Arkinv* from my addons and WTF folder and reinstalling the addon, but it changed nothing.
Thanks in advance for fixing this. :)
profiles in ai are slightly different. they have three sub-profiles, style, layout and categorysets. youre probably used to a single profile containing everything and sharing that, with ai the sub-profiles are also shareable.
if two profiles use the exact same three sub-profiles then theyre going to end up exactly the same. make a change in any of the sub-profiles and it will be seen by all the profiles that use it.
if you want completely different layouts then create another style (layout data is in the style record) and change the other profile to use that for its layout, it will share the style and categorysets but the layout will be different
Excellent response, my good man. I will look into that. Thank you!
I used to know how to change the currency I am tracking with the ElvUI data text, but I seem to have forgotten. Does anyone know the / command to track currency?
I can't find anywhere to specifically change the font size for the headers in the Rules window. For many months the headers (Something I can't make out, then Rule, Order, Description) have been so small as to be illegible. I tested it with no other addons enabled.
Side note also re: this window, there is some strange cross taint with this window and DBM Boss Frames... today I saw "Dmg Description" floating attached to the Arkinventory Rules Window. An Fstack show this to be named "Spell activation overlay frame"
theres no config for that but im not sure why those items are so small. i'll see if i can figure out why their fontsize has shrunk
Thanks a lot for fixing the toy filter and for adding a category for relics and order hall and weapon power consumables!
Can anyone help me with rule which sort everything ancient mana related together?
type(0) and tt("ancient mana")
ie, anyhthing consumable with "ancient mana" in the tooltip
you may also want add a soulbound check, presumably you can sell/trade the non soulbound ones
