ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
that will clear everything, which is fine if youre ok with that.
otherwise open the bag window (or one it has data for), click on the select character icon, mouseover the toon to want to erase, click on erase all data
For about 2 weeks now, I've been getting the error:
ERROR> Interface\addons\arkinventory\arkinventory.lua:8228: Attempt to access forbidden object from code tainted by an Addon.
Once it happens (usually when I loot a boss in an instance) it keeps from from being able to see tooltips and item stats when I mouse over items. I also can't see any loot info other than the name.
something tainted the gametooltip. if youre in a dungeon then its probably a mod that changes the nameplates as those were locked down by blizzard.
make sure all your mods are up to date. you can disable AI and do the dungeon thing and youll still get the same issue, just another mod will get blamed for it
you can follow this guide on taint if you want to work out which mod is actually causing it

Helloo! loving this addon
But I am hjaving a problem with removing "System - Default" from a Bag,
which basically means items are always randomly jumping towards the bagslot nr1 AFTER i moved the default to bag nr1, but Still unable to remove it.
is my only option to reset the addon? :S
thats the default category. it has to be assigned somewhere, and if you remove it then it auto assigns itself to bar1
its where items in a category that is not assigned to any bar end up
if you dont want to see those items then you can hide that category
Hi there! First I want to thank you for your amazing add-on. I can not play without it anymore.
It's always worked fine for me, but since today I experience some sort of "micro freeze" whenever I open or refresh my bags. Sort method is set to "on window open", like it's always been but the problem still exists if I set the method to "Instantly". There is no issue if the sort method is set to "Manually" tough, so I know for sure that the issue comes from here. I don't understand what is causing this because I never had issues before.
Do you have an idea about what is causing this? Thanks in advance!
there was an issue with the code clearing too much data so it would have to rebuild the items counts much more often.
it could be related to that and you've just happened to get to the point where its now impacting you
i fixed that in the new version but thats an alpha for BFA so it wont work on the live servers
you may want to just leave in on manual for the time being and click on the refresh button when you need it sorted?
In reply to Arkayenro:
if you're downloading alpha versions please be aware that from now on they will all be written for BFA - they wont work in Legion
In reply to Arkayenro:
Hi
How can I reset the settings for just 1 character back to the default?
Thanks
login as that toon
create a new profile and set it as your current profile
thats it
if you've actually changed options in the [1000] default style / layout / categoryset then youll need to do this as well
create a new style / layout / categoryset
under settings > controls assign the new style / layout / categoryset to each location
How to fix this ? this is how my search looks like.
In reply to cyberfrog77:
Hello,
Thank you for the update, the search by iem location is perfect.
There is an option to move new item into the category new items but I need to adjust that to only show new items looted in raid for example, or only violet items.
There is an other issue with this option, If I disconnect then reconnect, the item is not tagged as a new item.
I'm looking for a rules that show me all the new items, is it possible to do that (something like "age > 3600sec")
Thanks a lot that fixed my issue :)
Hi,
After the newest update of ArkInventory it seems to be messing with another addon I am using -> Opie

download r706-alpha or higher, it was fixed in there
Hello;
I stopped using Bagnon to use Arkinventory, I like rules and sorting but I have a problem.
Inbag search and allchar search do not work properly. If I search for an item by its type, I have no results.
For example, if I search for "hand" in WoW's default interface, all elements that are not a hand or have the word hand in the description are faded. Same result with Bagnon.
But in ArkInventory if I write "hand" ALL elements are faded, same thing if I write "hand". cf image
Is this a bug or is it the normal function of the addon? Changing equipment without this function is really difficult.
