ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I dunno how to get into GitHub to post a ticket, but I can't even get the config to show up in my list of addons in game after the PreLegion patch. This is even tho the "addon list" says it is installed but it just does nothing.
I'm getting this:

This was after the .07 update. I also don't have profiles still. I spent a lot of time setting these up. Does anyone know how to get them working? I tried the design stuff and got some things to change, but it's not how it was before. Thanks!
type this into your chat window
/dump GetAutoCompleteRealms( )
i need to check what youre getting because its not a standard return
I also get this error. The dump command gives:
Dump: value=GetAutoCompleteRealms( )
empty result
AI seems to work fine otherwise.
So I'm totally confused about how to get the edit mode to work out now.
In previous versions I would go into edit mode and assign the type of categories and such that I wanted to go into that section. Now they all say Locked and I can't figure out how to unlock them, assign categories like I used to, or make it work how I loved it before.
At least it allows me to change the settings now, I just can't figure out how to make it do what it used to do.
Delete this, delete that, change this setting, reinstall from scratch, select this, copy that...
Here's a novel idea: How about waiting for a stable version before releasing it?
it was working rather well on the PTR, and mine is working fine (but then i dont download from anywhere, its my code, its already here)
its possible the curse issue people are having is screwing it up and causing the issue but i dont know - maybe theyre updating with the game active, thats never a good idea
if someone has an issue they should create a ticket for it, trying to find and update replies in the forum is a nightmare
Got it to work but none of my profiles will load. all the profiles are there and the different categories show but the bag will not reset itself. Anyone have any ideas?
I have followed all the instructions, first loading it via Curse Client, then re-downloading it and manually installing it.
Still no go, it will not show up.
Same. I'm getting "installation failed" thru Curse Client.
Try downloading it from the project site on wowace?
http://www.wowace.com/addons/ark-inventory/files/
(download the top/latest version).
I had errors from the curse download for version 3.06.07, but the wowace download works fine for me. There are other addons having problems with curse's packaging, so it's not just AI.
Sooooo if you go to controls, and click on bag and goto layout you can select "default" which was my personal settings from before. So your settings are not gone - they have been saved as a separate layout.
Not for everyone
"* Default" is the system default, youll get "locked" if you use it. if you used the default profile then it should have copied over your settings as "Default"
its a small difference but it can cause confusion
Default didn't work for me, but setting Layout/Style for Bag to "[1001] Default - Bag" restored all of my pre-patch settings and bars (and the bars are no longer locked).
I had to relog on a couple of characters to get the changes to apply. The Default profile doesn't seem to save Control changes for all characters set to it.
One thing to note- I had to reload UI after selecting my default before it would take effect!
Even after the latest update, it's still not working for curse....so......
Followed Kaleq's advice below and it's finally working.
"...The not loading at all problem seemed to resolve when I manually installed the addon through wowinterface.com (download and paste into interface/addons, exit game and launch again)."
I wish I knew why it is working for some of you but not for me. I went so far as to remove all of my addons and all of my former settings, then installed the WowInterface copy manually to my addons folder and I'm still getting two errors that are now allowing me to see modify any of the settings. So frustrating considering I rely heavily on ArkInventory to sort through my bags/banks/etc and that is exactly the thing I really need to get done right now. :P
if you post the errors, or create a ticket, i will take a look at it
You fixed those... I just have no idea how to use it anymore. The features I loved are "locked" and I can't figure out how to use it.
