ArkInventory
ArkInventory (for The War Within)
:boom: Please ensure you are using the latest alpha version if you have the War Within client.
ArkInventory (for Retail, Classic, and Cataclysm)
ArkInventory's display windows are built from "virtual bars", you assign categories to bars so that items in that category are displayed on the specific bars you want. There is no limit to the number of bars you can have inside a window but obviously you only have so much screen real estate before it becomes "too many".
ArkInventory uses several methods to assign a default category to an item such as what professions you have, tooltip scanning, basic type/subtype and PeriodicTable. You then assign those categories to a virtual bar.
You can also over-ride the default category by creating a rule that matches either a single or multiple items.
Overview:
- user configurable window width and height
- separate keybindings for each location for easy viewing
- assign items to a category of your choice (overrides the default assignment)
- assign categories to the bar of your choice
- unlimited number of bars (there are practical limits though before your screen becomes full)
- sort each bar differently if required
- user configurable bars per row
- sell junk items automatically or manually (delete available via a keybinding or right clicking when at a vendor)
- random pet and mount summons. can also assign a group of them to select from
Key Bindings:
- Press ESCAPE to bring up the blizzard menu
- click on Key Bindings
- scroll down to AddOns > ArkInventory
- bind the keys you want to use

:boom: The NoLib variant
it seems quite a few people are somehow getting the NoLib variant from their download client when they didn't specifically ask for it, instead of the full variant, and its causing issues as they don't have the required libraries installed separately. Please ensure you are downloading the full. if you see nolib in the filename then its the wrong variant, unless you are actually installing all of the required libraries separately as well. If you have to you can manually download the full variant from CurseForge, WoWInterface, or Wago.
:boom: Junk Sell getting blocked
While auto-destroy remains blocked, From 30960 onwards you can setup a Key Binding to manually sell and destroy your items. Note that blizzard require one keypress per item deletion, so if you have multiple items that need to be deleted you will need to press the Key Binding multiple times. A message will be output if you have remaining items that can still be deleted.
:warning: Ensure you have backup copies of your saved variables file
Sometimes you cannot revert back to a previous version without a backup, especially alpha or beta versions, so before upgrading please make sure you have made a backup of your saved variables file
Your saved variables file is normally located at ...\World of Warcraft\_client_\WTF\Account\yourwowaccountname\SavedVariables\ArkInventory.lua
It is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate backups of your saved variables file. You dont have to do them frequently, just after you've made major changes to your config is probably fine for most people, but you should get into the habit of making backups because when it does corrupt you wont have to reconfigure everything from scratch.
If you have your download client set to automatically download alpha/beta versions you should definitely have backups.
A simple way to back up the saved variables file is to just do a copy and paste then rename the new file (using the version number of ArkInventory or the date is a good idea), eg ArkInventory-30900.lua, or ArkInventory-20191228.lua
I Have a problem.
I have currently data from 3 guilds in Ark inventory, but I can only erase the data from the guild I'm currently member of. Any suggestions?
Does'nt work in this case.
It can't find the guilds in question.
Still the data are there
This is a nice addon, but there are a few things that I don't like, and I can't find a way to do it. Maybe there is and I dunno.
1 - Any new items (equipment-soulbound) I received, it will go to the Bar# that I set and it doesn't allow me to drag and move to the 'Trash' Bar#.
2 - I enabled the New Items 's minutes setting. This is a bit annoyed me when each time I switched gears, and my gears will went to the new items slot.
Isn't those is already considered old items and not new?
So, do you think it is possible to make it drag and move to the Bar# I want as a temporary?
3 – Also, it always take a few minutes to organize the bags when you first log into the toon.
If you know any way to do, please let me know.
Thanks
It would be really nice to be able to set the item size directly, rather than having to apply a scaling percentage. Scaling it down to e.g. 90% causes all sorts of pixel imperfections, particularly with the borders. It seems like it wouldn't be that difficult to just have a slider for setting the size manually to 26px, 32px, etc.
even setting a fixed size its going to scale due to;
1) the main window scales
2) setting a fixed size means the game will scale the image to fit
both are going to cause the game to scale the image to fit
the borders can have their height and offset properties changed to cater for scaling issues, you just have to work out what ends up looking better for you
i have my pet window items scaled to 80% and dont have any issues with it
It's not the icon texture I'm worried about, but everything else. I'd like to be able to adjust the item size without having to rescale my borders, item count text, new item text, item level text, etc. to accomodate.
I created a lot of custom rules to sort all my stuff and since 7.2 it seems that AI doesnt recognize the types of items correctly. For example, armor items are flagged as gemstones, weapons as containers, herbs as projectiles, recipes as object appreciations and other items are flagged weird, too. Now probably 70-80 % of my whole inventory is totally mixed in the wrong way and a lot of custom made item groups are incorrect.
I use a german client so I had to guess the english category names, sorry.
the categories are sourced from blizzard constants so they shouldnt muck up like that
if you go into edit mode and check the debug data is the category set correctly in there?
What's the new outfit syntax for the new patch? The wiki has it as the same, outfit( "Name"), but in game i get the following message
Rule 3 is now flagged as damaged and will no longer be used until repaired.
the syntax is the same but blizzard changed their code and theres an issue with using the old function name in the rule code.
theres an alpha version (632) that uses their new functions which seems to work ok so far
I've enjoyed ArkInventory for a long time now, but since 7.2 I've been having issues with the following message popping up every time I log in
and it goes on through bag [2] to bag [5] - this has also stopped any of my items from being filtered into their custom categories.
I tried uninstalling the addon (with the options gone too) and re-installing it but the message is still popping up, I've also tried installing the ace media library and a few widgets from that as people have suggested and that too has done nothing.
Any suggestions?
EDIT: Even swapping to older versions isn't fixing the issue
maybe delete your cache folder, the game isnt returning a bag type so ai has no idea what it is and just tries to rescan it later, it will keep doing that until the game gives it the data
ive notice that now we donet have toe option to set equipment not souldbound to a bar, that option disapear, ive tried to create a rule but the SB rule does not work
the system > equipment category should still exist
Yeah, but stuff is being mis-categorized now. We have system>equipable(soulbound) but some soulbound equipment is not being put in the correct bar.
Something is screwed up with categorization.
fyi, it crash the game all the time when you are trying to loot and the bags are all full.
Besides that, it gave me an error when I click the Bar # under edit mode.

seems odd, every time ive looted and my bags were full it just stopped looting
if you have no free slots then the game wouldnt be triggering any events ai listens for
not sure about the cat is nil error, need to wait for the servers to come back to check that
i had to revert to last update in order that my rules working
Greetings!
I'm hitting a bit of an odd bug.
When I log off my character and back in, it doesn't register my custom categories. By that i mean the items that were assigned to custom groups aren't assigned to said groups. It's as if the categories were disabled (they aren't)
After i /reload, it will register my custom categories but the rules I have in place wont register (similar to what happened with the categories).
To get the items sorted into the appropriate rules I need to manually go into a rule (any rule) click "edit" then click "accept" without making any changed to the rule itself.
After doing this manual task, all is right with the world.
It's also worth noting that my wife, on a separate computer, who had INDEPENDENTLY set up the addon (she doesn't use rules) has a very similar issue
