Skada Damage Meter

Skada is a modular damage meter with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. It aims to be highly efficient with memory and CPU.

"Skada" is Swedish for "Damage".

Note: I took a tiny break from WoW (a decade), but recently started playing SoD. Be aware that this addon may not quite work yet.

Usage

When you first start using Skada, there will be a window created by default. This window can be extensively customized in Skada's configuration panel; click the little cog icon to access a menu, and then click Configure. Depending on your user interface, there may also be a minimap button allowing quick access to this menu.

Skada supports multiple windows. To create a new window, click Windows in the addon's configuration panel. There are three built-in types of windows - Bar, Inline, and Data text. Bar is the classic damage meter window, and is very customizable. Inline shows the meter in a horizontal line, which can be useful for integration in custom user interfaces. Data text shows just one item at a time, and can also be displayed by any LDB display addon, such as Titan Panel, ChocolateBar, or ElvUI.

In the normal Bar window, you can left click on specific items for more detailed information, and right click for less details. At the very "top" is the list of all saved fight segments. Some data modes have several detailed information views. In this case you choose alternate views by holding certain keys pressed while clicking. For example, in Damage mode, you can Shift-click a player to see what enemies the player caused damage to. Tooltips will display how to reach the different views.

You can also use window buttons for selecting fight segment and mode directly.

Scrolling in Skada is done with the mousewheel.

Plugins

Skada is easy to extend, and there were once many extra plugin addons out there that add functionality. However, there are unlikely to be any maintained ones currently.

Using your addon in PvP as recount sucks for telling me who of my foes deals more dmg. But I have a small problem. I clicked "Class color bars" and it show correctly in DPS/Damage mode for my allies, but not for the foes..

Is there any way besides hacking Enemy Damage done ?

My one problem with Skada is a tiny aesthetic issue. When configuring the menu, I like everything to be transparent (mostly) save for the bars. The problem with Skada's bars is that if I choose "use class colors" the transparency stops working. Also, it's impossible to make what I call the the "frame bars," or the semi-transparent part of the bars that fill up, fully transparent. The reason I say this is because if I'm showing damage or threat (which I usually am), the top person is always full, since they're the standard everyone else is compared against; so I don't really need the background "frame bar" telling me what percent full a bar is (since just at a glance it's obvious comparing it against the top bar). So, in short, AWESOME add-on, but I was wondering if it would be possible to add the feature to make what I've been calling the "frame bars" transparent, as well as enable transparency when "use class colors" is selected. I don't know if I've been clear, but this is just a minor suggestion :)

I guess I should call it the "bar frame" instead of the "frame bar," but hopefully you can figure out what I mean.

Is there a way to customize the size of the windows? Or to hide one window but keep another up? I like to have the threat window up while in heroics/raids, but not when I'm soloing or just running around in towns. Also the sizing of the windows would be a nice addition to this addon. I already love it, and couldn't see me going back to recount.

Skada seems to differ from Recount by a large margin. Is there a setting i need to make?

I tried Skada, and was enjoying it, especially the switching to threat while in combat, and back to damage afterward. This allowed me to stop using both Recount and Omen, I was very happy at first. Then I won my Heartpierce. I wanted to find out how much energy the proc was gaining me, and was very saddened to find that Skada does not track energy gains. Please add energy gain tracking for all us rogues. As a thank you we will dismember your enemies, and possibly toss a TotT your way.

Actually Skata's recording format is far more accurate these days than Recount. However, people see bigger numbers and go "ooohhhh pretty". Recount was done by Cryect who left the add-on at patch 2.4. Elsia who now maintains it even notes they only fix things where needed. However, through the many patches data display and collection has changed. And Recount is slowly falling behind in this regard. So you talk about something being more off ... that would be Recount's data compared to Skada. Not to mention Recount had everything under the sun that most people never used. Bulky overused concepts that few used. Skada is geared toward more realistic and applicable practices. An simply a add-on worth its praise.

Every single time this is linked after a boss fight, everything is so off compared to recount. I think Skada constantly calculates your damage, even after you die with DoTs...but recount stops when you die. Or something along those lines. That's why skada is always so much lower then recount users. I hate it, and the absorbs seem not right imo.

Absorbs are estimated. As blizzard stated, they have yet to send all the info for absorbtion to the game client.

Is there a way to simply auto turn it off when solo kicking around anywhere, kinda was trying few options but not working as intended. I mean "Hide when solo" option is not working for me, after every fight in solo mode, window pops up.

My main is a warlock and have a pet all the time. Skada Threat fires off constantly, so I turned it off when solo. However even in a 5-man, the flash/sound happens all the time - like's it's monitoring threat against my pet instead of the rest of the party. Is there a setting that fixes this? I had to disable all threat warnings as it got annoying.

Can the Mode Switching also have a feature to change the number of bars displayed while in the switched mode? If in combat I have it switch to show threat, it would be nice to be able to collapse it to say the highest three people rather than everyone at once.

I've moved from recount/omen to skada and love it but there is one thing I find annoying.

When set to reverse bar growth during a fight I have to scroll up to see the 1st, 2nd, 3rd.... people which really isn't convenient. Can this be changed so that it displays properly with the lowest people out of sight?

hi, is this possible? :
I have two skada windows: dps and threat and would like to manualy toggle only one of them. Right now if I click toggle on either of the two windows both dissapear.
Can only one window toggle can be achieved?

Need the following functionality:
-See death logs for more than the just the last death in an encounter.
-See the over-healing breakdown to which targets and with which heals.

Also...when you set any of your Skada windows to extend upwards rather than downwards, the scrolling is a bit inverted. If you are scrolling upwards with your mouse, you should still be scrolling upwards visually rather than down.

Other than these minor issues, I recommend this AddOn to my guildmates due to the light code and it doesn't have that horrid AddOn channel spam that Recount does (the spam you have to type /recount sync to turn off). OFC if fixing any of the above-mentioned issues would cause the AddOn to run too much system resources, then I can live without them. Skada's light-weight memory usage is where it shines.

I(feral druid) currently use this to show both dps and threat(2 separate windows). Sometimes however the other stops working and shows nothing. Deleting all the addon settings with the curse client makes it work again, but then the same problem happens after some time.

I can try to show other info with the window that is not working, but they show blank(no entries) too.

Any idea why? I'm more than willing to test the issue if you tell me how I can.

Hello again,

I want to use this awesome addon as an replacement for Omen.
A "Hide out of combat"/"Show in combat only" option (for each window) is the only thing i am missing.
