I had this same problem but it was temporary. How it looked when it was breaking, in either grow up or grow down, and with or without "collapse looted slots" setting checked:

    • Coin loots were always at the top of the frame, but sat on top of the first loot item.
    • If I looted coin and more than 1 item, I could only see the coin and part of the first loot item underneath it, not the second.
    • If I looted 2 independent corpses (not tethered by WoW's anti-ninja system), only the first coin loot would open, the second one would end up behind the first.
    • The frame itself would fracture. The coin loot icon would be where it should be, but the top edge of the frame was along its bottom and the bottom edge of the frame was along its top. The entire structure was "stuck" and not at all draggable under any condition.

All of this completely cleared up with a simple UI reload. Once I came back in and began looting again, the frame and icons worked just fine. I use the "down" option for growth direction. All coin loots, even successive ones, list just fine at the top of the frame. All material loots, even successive ones, list just fine at the bottom of the coin.
