WeakAuras 2

1 - issue with multi target tracking for combustion spreading

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Any time i cast combustion on a target and spread it to other targets

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I should see multiple bars counting down my combustion.
i see a few bars that count down and others that appear but never start to count down

What version of the product are you using?

Do you have an error log of what happened?

Please provide any additional information below.
What i am trying to do is track my combustion when i apply my combustion to my current target and use inferno blast to spread it the multi target tracker for progressive bars breaks, i get bars for my combustion but they dont start to count down and they dont disapear when combustion falls off untill i reload ui. As seen here imgur.com/rvZCu5D.jpg .  Is there anyway to work around this. Or is there a way to make a icon to show me how many targets my combustion is on with just a counter?

To answer that question almost 18 months later. WeakAuras is a generic addon that doesn't know how those dots are spread and thus doesn't know what the duration of them is.

I could not reproduce that displays remained visible on mob death anyway. (Though I tested on a Boomkin.) Since this bug is also very old, I presume it was fixed.

Why cant WA just clone the bar from the target i put combustion on the duration doesn't change when spreading it so i don't see why it is an issue really you could just clone that duration for when i spread it. As far as the bars not disappearing it is caused when mobs despawn but a few times when i spread combustion and WA doesnt track it cause no one is targeting that mob and the mob dies the bar still stays even with " there is a backup process in the WeakAuras code that tracks for mobs that have "disappeared" in this way and attempts to clear any multi-target displays associated with them" doesn't work the bars are still stuck on my screen.

i have actually switched to a different addon (raven) because i got tired of having my screen cluttered with and it tracks my combustion spreads flawlessly as far as i can tell so far. So why is this addon able to do it but WA cant when power auras could as well.

I just don't understand how as far as i can see your saying its not really possible but i know power auras tracked it just fine even when combustion wasn't caped at 5 targets and right now the addon raven tracks my combustion spreads on targets no one is targeting.

This is, unfortunately, just a limitation of the WoW API for aura tracking. Multi-target auras kind of push the boundaries of what is possible for addons a bit, since there is no way to get duration information for auras on mobs that nobody is targeting/mouse-overing. Therefore, if you spread combustion onto a mob that nobody is watching, WeakAuras can't get duration info for that new aura, so the bar associated with that aura will just be solid.

This behavior should improve a lot in a raid: since there are more people targeting more mobs, the chances of someone targeting each mob that you spread Combustion onto increase a lot. As long as the mob onto which Combustion is spread is targeted by *someone* in your raid, WeakAuras should be able to get duration info for that aura and display it correctly.

Also, targeting or mousing over mobs with unknown-duration Combustion auras on them should cause WeakAuras to immediately grab the duration info and update the bar.

Finally, even if nobody ever targets one of the mobs you spread Combustion to, WeakAuras should be able to tell when the effect has ended via the Combat Log message associated with an aura falling off a mob. Thus, once the Combustion is over, the bars should not get stuck. There are occasionally times when a mob despawns before dying and before a multi-target-tracked aura falls off of it, which will cause a bar to get stuck (and even then, there is a backup process in the WeakAuras code that tracks for mobs that have "disappeared" in this way and attempts to clear any multi-target displays associated with them). If your bars are getting stuck "on" when spreading Combustion to mobs that aren't despawning, then that is a legitimate bug, and I'll look into it.
