Chatter is a comprehensive, lightweight, mega-configurable chat enhancement addon. It supports a whole bunch of stuff, including:

- Hiding buttons
- Custom aliases for channel names
- Coloring of player names by class or deterministic HSV formula, and player levels next to names
- Custom font and font size for your chat frames
- Custom background, border, and positioning for the edit box
- Option to let the edit box border color match the color of the channel you are typing in
- Channel colors remembered by name, rather than by number
- Scrolling your chat frames with the mouse wheel.
- Sticky channels, configurable
- Ability to copy a chat frame's contents to your clipboard
- Ability to copy URLs to your clipboard
- Ability to customize the background and border of your chat frames
- Timestamps
- A /tt command to send a tell to your target
- A module that turns the word "invite" into clickable links that let you invite the speaker.
- Highlights both for custom keywords in specific channels
- Chat fading toggles
- Text justification
- Autologging (Off by default)
- Alt linking
- Much larger and smaller chat frames than default
- A Groupsay (/gr) command to talk to your group, whether that's battleground, raid, or party.

@creepy_inc: I hardly can imagine such issue.

    • Chat* logging done on the game level, addon only control if the game would log it or not.

The *combat* logging *potentially* could affect your game performance, if you're playing on seriously dated hardware. But that's out of this addon's discussion scope, as it does not control THAT setting.

This is my signature. There's many like it, but this one is mine.

Would chat logging have any impact on my game performance?

How do you increase the font size of the chat edit box text? It's too small for me as default. Can Chatter do this?

Is there an issue now with Chatter allowing the Chat Test Fading/Disappearing? I have deleted my Chatter files including the WTF files with no success in fixing this. The Disable Fading Module has no effect because the text never disappears or fades. Any ideas on this?

Feature Suggestion: Compressed money loot messages. For example, instead of: You loot 40 Silver, 45 Copper (2 Silver, 2 Copper deposited to guild bank) You could have: Looted 40s 45c (2s 2c guild)

I'd imagine I'm not the only one that would like this since the guild messages are so much longer than anything used to be. If you wanted to get fancy you could put little coin icons instead of the g, s, or c after the number, maybe make that a toggle-able option.

I know I'm not a developer or maintainer, but on that particular character are you using classic chat frames, or the newer "IM-Style" ones? The IM-style chat frames store independent message history, so clicking on a different window can bring up a different chat 'sticky'.

I'd consider the potential of this dinner to be quite omnomnomimous

The 'You are not in a guild' messag is indeed a general wow issue that needs fixing. it happens to anyone with or without a chat addon of any sort.

I keep having a problem with the chat edit box on only one of my characters. It keeps moving from the right to the default position when I log her on, and only her. I click 'free-floating' and then 'free-floating locked' and it bounces back to the right where I have position it originally without me having to actually move it again, so it knows where it should be. Seems it is not storing the changes in the savedvariables folder, but restoring it to defualt every time she is logged on.

Iv also been having a problem with macros reporting to the right channel. It just will not report to the channel im talking in, it keeps spamming over and over a random channel. I can even type in the macro /Raid 'Blah blah blah' and it will still spam it in guild chat. This has only occured since the patch and I have disabled Chatter and it works fine then so I know chatter is the source of the problem.

Any idea whats causing this? I use all the same mods on this characters as I do all the others so nothing can be interfearing with it. I run Chatter version 1.2.9-3-5-gc613d48

The "you are not in a guild" happens randomly, I have seen reports of it with other mods. Not sure if it is a general problem even without a mod or not.

Hi, I don't know if this has been brought up before or not, but yesterday I started getting the message "You are not in a guild" when attempting to type in gchat with Chatter turned on. I disabled the mod and the problem went away. I do have the latest version of Chatter. Never had this problem before. Any idea what's causing this problem for me? I love your mod and hate not being able to use it.

    Thanks in advance!
