Alt-Tab Toggle
Alt-Tab Toggle (ATT) will force WoW to the foreground on events when you're alt-tabbed. Optionally you can choose to only play a sound when one of these events fire. Then you can tab back into WoW at your leisure.
Events that ATT will toggle include
- Auctioneer scan, search and post complete [W]
- BankStack complete [W]
- BG Deserter debuff expire,
- BG idle debuff,
- BG gates opening
- Duel request (2.1.5beta),
Dungeon Deserter/Cooldown debuff expire
- Enemy detected,
- Enter Battleground window,
- Enter combat,
- Flight land,
- Group invite,
- Group ready check,
- LFG boot proposal,
- LFG enter proposal,
- LFG role check,
- Mailbox, finished looting (2.1.7beta) [W]
- Resurrection request (2.1.2beta)
- Summon request,
- Trade skill finish crafting [W]
- Whispers,
- Wintergrasp Starting,
- Zeppelin arrival
[W] = window mode only
Leave a ticket if you have another event that should be added.
FAQ:
Q) How does ATT bring WoW to the foreground?
A) ATT uses a console command gxRestart that inadvertently causes WoW to jump to the foreground (in full screen mode).
Q) I'm in window mode and WoW's not coming up.
A) Unfortunately the console gxRestart command doesn't work in window mode. You'll have to use the alert sound.
Q) I'm in window mode and ATT's alerting when I'm not alt tabbed.
A) The Alt-Tab Detection is giving false positive. This usually happens to slow PCs or under heavy load (-10FPS). If this is causing problems, turn off Alt-Tab Detection and manually activate ATT by typing /att before you alt tab out.
Q) How does Alt-Tab Detection work?
A 1) When fullscreen WoW loses focus, frames stop updating. ATT checks if it's been 5+ seconds since the last frame update.
A 2) When windowmode WoW loses focus, FPS drops to -10, ATT checks if your FPS has dropped below 10 for over 5 seconds. this could give false positives on slow PCs.
Q) What does AFK Activate do?
A) AFK Activate is a old feature that activated ATT when you went /afk. Once you returned you could move/jump and ATT would deactivate. AFK Activate isn't needed now with Alt-Tab Detection.
Q) Will you add a toggle for the ingame alarm clock?
A) Currently not possible. When WoW loses focus frames stop firing OnUpdate. The alarm clock uses OnUpdate to fire the alarm.
Q) ATT caused WoW to crash and give error #132.
A) Checkout Blizzard's Error #132 page. If that doesn't help try enabling ATT's Sound Only option on.
Q) AddonUsage / TitanPerformance claims ATT is using lots of CPU usage, why?
A) The Ace3 libraries ATT uses are probably being used by other addons and ATT is getting the blame. Try downloading Ace3 separately from here and see if that helps.
Q) Are there alternatives to Alt-Tab Toggle?
A) Yes, LFGMaximizer, EventNotifier and AltTabber that I know of.

Couldn't find a place to file the following bug report: If I get CCed in PvE combat, the Flight Land event is toggled when the CC wears off.
The only problem I have is the sound volume. My master sound is brought down to 11%, but when I'm on my desktop, and an event triggers ATT, the notification sound is VERY VERY loud. If I quickly alt-tab back into WoW, then the notification sound readjusts and is quiet again.
The ONLY things I'd like to see happen are:
1) Make it possible to enable only certain events to play sounds, with certain settings (eg. only activate for whispers when /afk is typed without manually activating every time, etc.)
2) Different sounds. :3
Dungeon Cooldown is a debuff separate from Dungeon Deserter.
Two things regarding options:
a) A option to change sound for everything at once!
b) Get rid of all those checkboxes, but add an option sound optionn 'None' instead. Also because if you expend the options frame so it displays an odd number per line it looks really weird :)
Also:

But my 'Dungeon Deserter' was still on me for serveral minutes :O
- If you are the target for an emote (e.g. someone targets you and uses /greet /hi /bye etc.).
- A message if somebody says something in a configurable channel (like /say /party /raid)
Don't know if these wishes are out of the scope of your addon but maybe you can consider them :)

Feature request: would it be possible to make ATT permanently toggled on/off? With alt tab detection turned off and sound only turned on I like being able to just have a sound play whenever say LFG queue pops up even if I'm in game (with in-game sounds turned off). This works fine the first time, but only after I toggle it on with /att and it seems to only catch the first alert.
I realise this might be outside of the intention of ATT, but the only other addon I've found that comes close to it is eventnotifier which isn't quite as good.
Many thanks, keep up the good work!
I added a option to be always activated. It's off by default.
One thing I did notice in heroic HoR was when the first boss did his aoe terror once I had regained control ATT sounded off for Flight Landed. The group was a complete mess, but I was so impressed with ATT it didn't bother me.
Thanks again.
I think the party thing's fixed in 1.3.2beta.
[19:48:49] Alt-Tab Toggle: Full Party
It is set to 10man raid and only the first group filled up ;)
Unfortunately things are messed up with v1.3.1beta.
I changed the sound for whisper to e.g. Murloc! and whispered the player from a different wow window. Got no sound at all. Even changing it back to the original ATT mp3 file doesn't make any difference. Alt-Tab Toggle won't play anything for whispers now.
I'm a bit in a hurry but will try it once more this evening (will delete the configuration lua file before).
Repositioning doesn't seem to be an issue any more :)

I tested the version with enemy detection in window mode just before upload and I thought it worked.
Char1 = Wow Window 1 (Wow1)
Char2 = Wow Window 2 (Wow2)
on Wow2: /w Wow1 test
on Wow1: From [Wow2]: test
on Wow1: Alt-Tab Toggle: Receive whisper
fine so far. ATT got he whisper and played the sound.
No I go change the whisper sound to "Murloc!"
Next test:
on Wow2: /w Wow1 test
on Wow1: From [Wow2]: test
on Wow1: /att
on Wow1: Alt-Tab Toggle: Activated | Slash command
on Wow2: /w Wow1 testbla
on Wow1: From [Wow2]: testbla
As you can see, after changing the whisper sound (the same happens when I switch it back to the original ATT sound), ATT doesn't recognize the whisper any more...
Next thing that is weired:
Sometimes I get an ATT sound _while playing in the active window_ It does not happen very often but there must be a bug, too. Last message came from "Combat Start" while I was in a random heroic dungeon (and was pulling a group as the tank).
Last thing:
When I open the config screen for ATT all entries are a bit shifted. If I resize the config window (I have to make it larger) everything get's in order. I'm playing on a 22 zoll monitor with a 1680 x 1050 wow window resolution. If you like I can e-mail you a screenshot how it looks like...

In window mode and your FPS drops to 10 for 5 seconds, ATT assumes you're alt tabbed. If it becomes a problem, disable Alt-Tab Detection and manually actiavte before alt tabbing.
