85 - Storyteller / Narrater
What is the enhancement in mind? How should it look and feel?
Add a chat frame window which contains a narrated story of the player's life, auto-generated from the features of SpeakinSpell.
Please provide any additional information below.
The current feature set of 3.2.2.10 isn't quite enough to achieve this in a way that would make the story flow. What I'd like to do is plan out canned story arcs that would trigger on certain events, and follow various random paths, using a mix of mad-libs, choose-your-own-adventure book kind of story writing, and captured dialog and action from the roleplayer.
(login, in city, intro template)
It was a cold day in <month> when <player> returned to <zone>
He mounted his trusty steed, <randomboy>, a mighty <spellname>
and rushed off towards the far side of <subzone>
There he found <target> who said
"geared dps LFG daily H"
"They sure speak in strange ways here in <zone>" thought <player>,
as he replied in the native tongue, "invite"
"hi" said <party2>
"hi" replied our hero
"know any heals?"
"i'll ask my guild"
Just then <party3> arrived
and in time they had a full group of hearty adventurers
<party5> the <party5class> snarled in the language of the <party5races>, "omw"
and so they left <zone> in search of treasure
(zone into dungeon, after we've done a group forming template)
The cavern walls of <subzone> were dripping with pale green moss
<party2> looked at his fellows, checking that all were ready
and so they charged at the first <target> blocking their path
(from here, trigger on crits, CCs, CDs, killing blows, and other special things that are more important in combat)
and so on

rismisner Tue, 24 Nov 2009 00:09:27I decided this is too much and I don't want to leave the ticket open for it. Declined tickets are still saved and if I ever run out of ideas, I'll reopen some of them.

rismisner Sun, 22 Nov 2009 18:08:38Giving this a low priority due to complexity, vagueness of design, and pie-in-the-sky-ness of it. Also because I might pursue this idea in a stand-alone game and/or writing assistance tool instead of (or prior to adapting it for) a component of SpeakinSpell.

Aetharan Fri, 09 Oct 2009 09:48:15At least as interesting reading material, I would recommend The Big List of RPG Plots and The Grand List of Console Role Playing Game Cliches.

rismisner Fri, 09 Oct 2009 08:42:42This idea is related to my MMORPG game design concepts related to automatic randomized story generation in a game world with an open-ended storyline that continuously moves forward based on a mix of player choices and randomly generated content. I'd like to pursue this idea as an experiment in that kind of technology.
I believe it should be possible to set up various templates based on tropes and cliche story concepts... The butler did it... they were long lost brothers... there are many websites with huge collections of tropes to draw from in this regard.
