Rarity

Tooltips

Inspired by Bunny Hunter, Rarity tracks how many chances you've had to obtain various rare items throughout the game. It will tell you how likely you are to obtain the item, track how long you've been farming for it, etc. Primarily, this is useful for farming companion pets and mounts, but it also supports virtually any item including patterns and designs, archaeology projects, etc.

Features

  • Provides an LDB feed, tooltips, and progress bar, allowing you to track items of your choice

Includes all the features of Bunny Hunter, plus:

  • Fully user configurable—you can add things to track on your own
  • Supports zone-wide drops (i.e. Hyacinth Macaw)
  • Supports containers (i.e. White Polar Bear)
  • Supports two-level loots (i.e. Disgusting Oozeling)
  • Supports archaeology projects (i.e. Scepter of Azj'Aqir)
  • Supports fishing (i.e. Sea Turtle)
  • Supports item usage (i.e. Mojo)
  • Supports items dropped from bosses that require a group to defeat
  • Supports items obtained from holiday boss bags (i.e. Big Love Rocket)
  • Supports items looted from world containers (i.e. Bonkers)
  • Supports some special cases (i.e. Elementium Geode, Mysterious Camel Figurine)
  • Supports things other than pets and mounts (i.e. Skyshard, Primal Egg, recipes, legendary components, etc.)
  • Supports bonus coin rolls (i.e. Mogu Rune of Fate)
  • Will properly ignore skinning
  • Lets you modify your kill count without having to edit saved vars, in case you started farming before you installed Rarity
  • Automatically imports data from Bunny Hunter
  • Shows an "achievement" alert when you finally obtain the item!
  • Automatically scans you to determine if you already have any companions or mounts
  • Automatically scans your boss kill statistics to keep track of attempts for many items
  • Shift-click to report your progress to chat
  • Sort items by name, difficulty, or percent complete
  • Tracks how long you've been farming this session, day, week, and month

You should also install

  • Rarity works best with an LDB display like Fortress, Button Bin, or Titan Panel. If you don't have a display, turn on Rarity's minimap icon. There are lots of displays available — if you don't like one, try another!
  • AddonLoader is highly recommended. This will let you keep the configuration UI unloaded until you need it.
  • Collectinator is a good companion add-on to Rarity. It will show you where to obtain everything that Rarity tracks.
  • Archy is recommended to replace the default Archaeology UI, which Rarity has been known to cause problems with.

I farm the Disgusting Oozeling all the time, and for whatever reason, I can't enable the tracking for it. As in, it's listed in the options, and I click the box and it doesn't take. Any ideas?

Rarity does not show 97% with 900 kills. Go check it again. Rarity has the Fox Kit as a 1 in 1000 chance, whereas Bunny Hunter has it as 1 in 200. If you wish to change the chance, you can do so through the options interface. Nobody knows the true drop rate at this time, it might very well be 1 in 10000.

Regarding the Fox Kit. I have close to 900 kills and both BH and this addon says I should have a 97+ of finding it by now. Is the drop chance right for it? I have heard that all zone drops are now 1 in 10k. I know BH says the drop chance is 1/200 does rarity think so as well?

    @solipsist: Go

I just tried to reproduce the issue, and I can confirm that fishing does not seem to be working at this time. Give me some time to investigate the issue and I'll hopefully post a fix soon. Thanks! ;)

Somehow i have problems letthing the addon counting from fishing from pools I have read the FAQ, and have done as suggested, but i never had one occurence where it actually worked.

Perhaps i'm doing it all wrong, and i'd like some help with this I have created a fraps movie, and uploaded it onto youtube. I disabled every addon except for rarity and titan panel I'm fishing from a pool in uldum, and hover my mouse in and out the pool (so it can detect it?) unfortunately i haven't been successfull.

This is the link to the youtube movie i made. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbPy0IHdPYM

Am i doing something wrong? if not, is there anything i can do to help you? If it's impossible to fix this, i have peace with that as well :) i just wanted to raise this one up :)

    Thank you for your time.

Yes, deleting it will count as an attempt, and I can't do anything about that.

As to the zoning comment, I've fixed that in r46.

If you have an [Amani Hex Stick] on your bag, it will count as one Mojo atempt everytime you zone in someplace (like Firelands). Deleting it will also increase the count.

Okay, thanks for the quick response :)

There are no items to my knowledge that drop throughout the entire game. "World Drops" drop in any zone in an expansion (or in instances sometimes). You will need to enter in every zone in which the item drops.

I do not have plans to add any additional items to Rarity at this time. If you have a specific suggestion, feel free to mention one. The tooltip is already quite long, and tradeskill recipes are not universally farmed for (I could care less, for instance), so I don't think it's a good fit for the defaults.

First off, great addon! I know it's in the works yet, but I'd love to see rare/world drop recipes and patterns listed already, instead of having to add them one by one. Also, with the world drop recipes, is there a setting to put? I've been using drops from NPC(s), or from any mob in a zone, but then it asks for zone names.... but if it's a world drop, then...? See my confusion? Thanks for the help :)
