This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.
This addon is abandoned. Please switch to SmartRes2
Just an update on SmartRes2: the first Beta should be available around third week of February, 2010, if all goes according to plan. Remember, Beta files propagate to Curse.com so you won't have to go to WowAce.com to get it.
SmartRes2 has that feature. :-) It works for the most part, at least the important stuff. What doesn't work: random chat messages, alerting ressers they are casting a duplicate, and the res function hangs on the same target until they accept the res. I'm working on those.
er, that would be alerting ressers in chat they are casting.. etc You do see collision bars turn red (or whatever colour you pick)
Release 6.09 of the original SmartRes is the very last update, ever. I'm not even bumping the .toc when the next patch comes out. It works, but as soon as SR2 is finished, this addon will become abandoned, and deleted soon thereafter.
SmartRes2 is still a work in progress. Unfortunately, that means I sometimes break it in order to fix something else. However, it is coming along nicely. I wish I had an ETA for a release date, but I don't; there are still things that need hammering into place.
If you want to continue trying out SR2, by all means, but until you see it here on Curse, please consider it developmental, and subject to change. When I raid, I still use the original SmartRes.
SmartRes2 works, for the most part now. The collision bars don't change colour yet, but most of the important stuff works, including key bindings. I don't get to raid or instance during the week, so I have to bugfix in my head.
If you find any bugs, please use the Ticket system on wowace.
Woot!~ a new build of SmartRes2 was uploaded, and when I tested it in game, it has no errors. Mind, it doesn't do anything. Not even the slash commands work, which is a bit odd. I will look into it when I wake up.
Oh, and I created a poll on the SmartRes2 wowace site regarding ressers whose res ability is dwarfed by this addon, and how to deal with them. For example, resser A casts on dead A, then 2 seconds later, resser B casts on dead A because he's a noob, and doesn't watch resurrection monitors of any kind. I need feedback people, and comments are welcome. http://www.wowace.com/addons/smartres2/
Sounds awesome. I didn't even think (from a gamers perspective) that the addon was memory heavy, clumsy or anything. Can't wait to get to try the BETA. Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated.
Just a taste of the new version: when pressing the auto res key, SmartRes2 will pick Priests, Paladins, Shamans/Druids, Mages/Warlocks, Hunters, then everybody else in that order. Ressers first instead of random targets! It uses LibResComm-1.0, Ace3, and LibSharedMedia-3.0 to make it more lightweight than the original. SR2 will use the Blizzard Interface/Addons screen rather than the bulky, memory intensive DewDropLib and FuBarPlugin-2.0. All Ace2 code, along with Ace2 libs like PaintChips and the antique CandyBar-1.0 are gone! But all the same functionality for customizing the bars will remain. In fact, when selecting the textures, you should see what they look like in preview rather than just have a name then guessing. There may be other features, and the ones listed might be added as I get out of Alpha and into Beta.
Thank you for the vote of confidence!! I did work on SR2 all last weekend, but due to an internal issue at wowace, I did not get it uploaded. Mostly options (egads, there are a lot to handle when you click) and I'm not quite done with that. After the options are coded, along with the default settings, it is on to the bars, which frankly I'm dreading. Probably won't be as bad as I think, but it seems kind of overwhelming at this stage.
The original SmartRes is a light addon, compared to a lot of "must have" addons, such as unit frames, or damage meters. But it is still a pig compared to its successor.
Sounds good, I can't wait to try it out. I do follow "you" on Wowace just thought I'd ask here so others that do not, can catch a glimpse of what's to come.
OoooOOOooo a follower! LOL I'm flattered, but understand. There are some people on wowace I "follow" myself.
Expect another (sorry, non-functional) build of SmartRes2 later today. As soon as the "Experimental" tag goes away on the main page, then it will be become a "try it, could still have bugs however" Alpha. In the meantime, I am keeping that "Experimental" status as it won't work yet; too much still to code.
It is about 70% done, give or take. I haven't worked on it since September, due to real life getting in the way. Mostly a new job that kept me sleeping far too much after work. Plus I got the bug to actually play the game! I will be dropping more code over the next few days, but while you can see the progress on wowace.com, I would not suggest trying to use the addon. In fact, I haven't even loaded it into game to bugfix, and I can't until I have all the major bases covered. The huge to do is the bars; movable, coloring, texturizing, etc.
If you want to try it out (latest build is r74, raid tested) go to http://www.wowace.com/addons/smartres2/
