simpleMinimap

This project is abandoned and its default file will likely not work with the most recent version of World of Warcraft. Whether this project is out of date or its author has marked it as abandoned, this project is no longer maintained.

simpleMinimap is a module-centric addon for modifying and personalizing one of the center-pieces of any UI - the minimap. the core simpleMinimap mod has these features...

* left-click and drag the minimap anywhere
* hide and move the default minimap buttons
* zoom in and out with the mousewheel
* adjust the minimap's scale, outdoor alpha and strata
* bind a key to toggle the minimap and/or zoom it full-screen
* type '/smm' for a list of commands

simpleMinimap also comes with several modules. these modules can be disabled and/or the files can be deleted if you don't need or want access to the features. they are located in the simpleMinimap/modules folder...

* Autozoom - automatically zoom-out minimap after delay
* Compass - NSEW markings on the minimap
* Coords - small frame that shows map coordinates
* GUI - dropdown setup menus (default is right-click on minimap)
* Movers - allows movement of UI frames attached to the minimap
* Pings - popup frame that shows the minimap pinger's name
* Skins - allows for changing the minimap's skin (square, corner)

I'm having a really weird problem. I only really just noticed it, but when I think about it, it's been happening a lot. Basically when I right-click on a certain part of the lower right hand portion of my screen the minimap menu pops up. I'm providing a screenshot to it. You can't see the icon of the mouse, but the upper right hand portion of that menu is where my mouse is. I have tried disabling other mods, but thus far nothing has come of it.

Let me know if there is some way to fix this. It's driving me nuts and making it really hard to turn with my mouse...

ok, i figured out the N direction disappearing on me when Rotate Minimap is on, just go into your options menu, under Interface> Display: just disable and reenable Rotate Minimap, and it reappears.

only problem ive really had was with rotating minimap, i am very picky about my UI. i got the 4 point NESW directions to be gone, for those who dont use rotating. umm, it was handy to have the N on the rotating map, sometimes its there, sometimes its not. never had that problem before Wrath, after launch it has been happening. i just updated this addon with WoWMatrix, i hope the issue has been resolved. one of the best addons ever, thank you so much.

Problem: Even when i switch to a square minimap, minimap icons are still moved around sliding along where the circular minimap border would have been. I know I can just use an addon to move the buttons freely to wherever i please, but that's annoying and it's hard to get the location right (especially to get each button about equally close to the border, which looks better imo). Any chance you will make it possible to simply drag buttons along the actual sides of the minimap shape you have chosen?

@raunioilla: This worked exactly like default Blizzard Minimap: If you toggle the Minimap there was no 'click-through' at the MinimapCluster area. I changed this in 30000-4. Hiding the Minimap with ToggleMinimap() [smm / wow default key binding] hides the MinimapCluster frame now. This allows click-through at this area.
Hope this has no sideeffects on other things. If so please tell.

@bum: The VehicleSeatIndicator frame is now part of the 'movers module' (30000-4).

This addon had been working perfectly for me until i decided to have my minimap hidden. I bound a hotkey to toggle it and all seemed good. But soon a found out that minimap frame didn't «disappeared» but only became transparent. Any mouse activity over the position of the hidden minimap frame was happily handled, e.g. right-click brought me dropdown menu when I expected to change the camera view. Is it possible to have an option to turn the frame into completely inactive state, like Grid with its option «select through frames»?

so i have this problem where, when i go into a siege tank in wintergrasp, there should be a vehicle icon type frame. im assuming this is part of the minimap. but there is no mover for this frame, it doesnt even show the frame at all. or is it part of something else. any help?

I love a lot of what you put into this AddOn. Unfortunately, the two things I wanted it for the most seems to be incomplete.

I want to play with a rotating minimap. But the SimpleMinimap's compass points do not rotate with the map, making them pretty much useless.

Also, I like the skin options, but it is also buggy with a rotating minimap. In this case, the section that rotates is simply the shape of the skin, rather than showing a complete map within the border.

I like the corner map skin displayed in the sample picture here, but the one in-game doesn't have the border. Am I missing something here?

i have that kinda problem aswell.. only the entire map reset's its position everytime.. and its upon every change in map.. meaning upon log in and change of zone :( which sucks so badly cause then its untop of my targets buffs :/

Tracking button (maybe not the only button) always is misplaced on load, after unchecking lock minimap it moves to the correct place. So basically i've to click unlock and lock everytime when i login.

I have hte latest version, love it, but have 1 problem.
all teh various trackign windows, quest, achievements, etc, I can only see them if I toggle the "movers" on so that I can relocate them, once I uncheck "movers" they are no longer visable.. I can leave movers on, but then I am constantly getting the popup when I mouseover them which can be a pain in combat, etc.

*sigh* the quest tracker is now somehow attached to the minimap - because this one hasnt' been updated I"ve switched to Chinchilla -would LOVE to come back as soon as this issue is fixed..but gotta have my quest tracker for the new quests :(

ive always used QuestHelper, which has a handy moveable tracking frame, so ive never had that problem thank goodness.

I have the same problem. Removing the add-on didnt help either... seems my tracking button is forever lost :'(

Okay, workaround that works for me: If you use Elkano's Buffbars ( http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/SearchResults.aspx?q=Elkano's BuffBars ), which I was already using anyway, it shows what you are Tracking and you can rightclick the buff itself to change it. Yay!
