What steps will reproduce the problem?Problem 1: Enable [curpp] as text indicatorProblem 2: Enable Priest mana bar and priest power bar
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Problem 1: It displays the new resource of shadow instanity, however shadow also still has mana.So there is no way to display mana.I woud love that [curpp] keeps displaying mana on Shadowpriest and you add an extra tag for the new instanity resource because this way I can keep using the same profil for my shadowpriest as for all my other classes in my UI.. I use this to color the text blue so its mana |c000099ff[curpp]|rAlso when I switch spec to e.g. Holy Priest the instanity resource is replaced with mana, that dosen't realy make sense since I have mana in both specs.
Problem 2: For all classes untill legion the "Powerbar" was displaying mana if they had mana. This has changed for shadowpriest its now showing the new instanity resource. This makes problems with using same profil for e.g. shadow priest and paladin. Before e.g. Warlock had a special power bar but it was added as a special option in the "widget" menu. My request woud be change the Powerbar to show mana and replace the "priest mana bar" widget with a priest instanity bar.
"curpp" always shows the primary resource of your current character, which in this case is Insanity, not Mana - since its also the tag used on the power bar itself, which also shows the primary power.
@Nevcairiel: Go
I edited my post above to explain more because it was not always like this and as I said its realy a problem like this.
Many people are using a special addon like Vex Power to display the special resources of every class. I woud like to have a consistant tag so it always displays mana like before.
The powerbar has always shown the primary resource of all classes, the Blizzard API has a clear definition for this and its not something thats hard-coded in SUF. It just tells us which is the primary power of your current character.
The big difference is that Legion added a few new primary resources for a variety of classes.
There is no changing this. Both the power bar and the cur/abspp tags just tell you what the game reports.
These are not "special resources". Holy Power or Soul Shards are special resources, but Insanity for SPriests or Maelstrom for Shamans are their primary power. Mana is only used for very few utility spells, and not as their primary resource.
OK but how do I display the mana value when there is no text tag for it? Even the default blizzard frames show the value
I've just added new pp tags with a mana: prefix to always report the mana value, irregardless of the primary power type.
mana:curpp, mana:maxpp, etc. All available in the class specific section of the config GUI.
You can then create a new text field on the priest mana bar and use these tags on there (General -> Text Management to create new text fields on bars which don't usually have any)
Eventually I might replace the druid-specific mana tags with those as well, I guess, to get rid of near-duplicates.
Thank you!
"Eventually I might replace the druid-specific mana tags with those as well, I guess, to get rid of near-duplicates."
Shure if you can still keep displaying both e.g. mana:curpp and curpp.
But what will it then display on a class that only has mana? Hmm that coud be a problem then. I woud keep the druid things maybe even add the priest and shaman mana the same way as the druid mana.
Well yes, the difference in behavior is the reason I didn't just replace it outright. A tag that only shows mana if mana is not the primary power type can be useful, I suppose.
I could modify the mana:* tags to do that, but that might be confusing.
But I do not currently plan to introduce duplicates for every class with both mana and another primary power. Afterall, isnt that what those class specific bars are for, you can attach a mana tag to them, and the bars (and all their tags) hide automatically.
I guess someone might want to show the mana value without having the mana bar, but there is also the ability to add custom tags.
Ok it just dosen't work as I thought.. e.g. windwalker and bewmaster monk still shows mana when I use mana:curpp even thought: windwalker dosen't use mana in any way, even the dispells morph to enegry ..but it takes mana when you are in mist spec.
I realy don't know what to do now, I just don't want to create a new SUF profil for every class and spec.
These tags always show mana, no matter what. If you use them on a class without mana, it'll probably at least say 0 or something.
Mana on these classes is a secondary resource of little importance, only used for a small minority of utility spells and not in the primary rotation, you should treat it as such and not try to pretend nothing changed.
Why not just enable the priest and shaman mana bars, create new text elements on them and show the mana there. That way they will never interfer with any other classes or other specs even.
As an alternative, I could delete the mana:* tags again and copy/paste the druid:* tags for shamans and priests, at least that would be consistent with the previous design, even if I don't really want to.
Thank you for the reply its hard to explain, I'm realy only thinking about how to solve this in the last 2 hours. Check out my UI for a screenshot of the playerbar: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=17709
I disabled them cause they don't fit in my unitframe and I don't want 4 bars in my unitframe. (currently: Very slim power bar, hp that shows hp mana or power, empty bar to display name level etc). However I already have a powerbar from vexpower that display the shadow insanity and malstrom of shaman so I'd like to display mana on the unitframe... Guess I'll make a special profil for this 2 class specs.
Give me a sec to think about this. Woud that mean that the tags woud only show up on that class in that one spec? E.g. I coud display mana on the empty bar in shadow spec and when I go holy spec it displays power as mana and hides the mana in the empty bar? Puhh I realy don't know..
I think this woud be the best solution for me a mana tag that only shows when you are shadow, ele or meele shaman. Here is a screenshot of my unitframe Top in holy spec bottom in shadow spec: http://i.imgur.com/9DWdqRB.png
The proposed tags would just work like the druid:* tags work today, except for more then just druids.
They show mana when in shadow spec, and are empty if in holy or disc. Same for shaman.
In fact I think I'm going to go with that, since you don't seem to be liking the mana:* tags either way, and noone is going to miss them since they are new. For your special profile idea you can still use the new tags to show mana.
The new replacement tags are sec:curpp etc, for secondary mana. Its one generic tag that works on priests, shamans and druids, and behave exactly like the druid tags (as explained above).
Personally I would feel kinda weird to have to check different bars depending on which class I'm on. The unit frame shows the primary power for all classes, but then shows a secondary power for priests and shamans? Oh well. :)
Thank you very much again. This is exactly what I needed, just perfect now leave it like it is :) :D
BTW are you h.leppkes? just to make shure I donate to the right guy :D
