Prat 3.0
In loving memory of Jon Akthar (Sylvanaar)
Hello WoW community, I'm LuciferCatnip, Sylvanaar was my coworker and my mentor. It goes without saying that Jon was an amazingly talented individual. He always seemed to know everything… but he once said to me "It's not about knowing the answers, it's about asking the right questions", he always challenged me to ask me the right questions until I would arrive at the answer on my own terms. Jon was also a champion of the open source movement, and so with special thanks to Gil from Curseforge as well as Sylvanaar's family, there's no better way to honor Sylvanaar's legacy than to keep his project going strong in the community.
If you'd like to help maintain Prat, please reach out to MysticalOS or LuciferCatnip directly. Thank you so much.
About
Prat-3.0 is a chat enhancement addon for World of Warcraft.
It is made up of 30+ smaller "modules" which each provide additional functionality, and can be enabled or disabled individually.
In game, type /prat for a menu. Or use the icon on one of the many data broker hosts.
Prat has just about every feature you can think of, and then some. Really. When I get some more time, I'll try and put together a full list (Even I have lost count)
(Thanks to Dreamsight for this partial list)
- Sync your chat settings across your account (Beta)
- Machine learning powered spam filter (Beta)
- Change arrows, buttons, mouse scroll for chat scroll, scroll speed
- you can add player color per channel, color per level, color per class
- timestamps (styled)
- whether to show timestamp (what format the timestamp should be in)
- whether to show players level
- you can select the option for channel "stickys" (last channel you used you auto use when hitting enter, that sort of thing – or last thing someone said)
- change the looks of the chat's editbox - as well as where it appears (you can even undock it and move it to where you'd like it to be)
- chat fading, fading delay
- You can change the font to a list of fonts, add an outline to it, monochrome it (if you don’t mind messing with files a bit you could probably even add other fonts to that list)
- change the chat frame/chat box appearance
- Keep chat history between game sessions
- Set channel abbreviations
- set brackets and color(or something instead of brackets)round player/lvl
- alt invite option (press keyboard “alt” button and click on the player’s name to auto inv them)
- raid icon
- invite links - click them to invite the person
- URL copying
- Full chat copying + copy button
- Click timestamp to copy line
- Configurable alerts when your name or other word is mentioned
- enables tell target /tt which whispers your target
- Alias options - make macros into short commands
- See names of players Alt characters
- change chat sounds (incoming and outgoing as well as per channel)
- Achievements info and grats
- Full chat search and search box
- Customizable filters for advanced users
- Show item icon next to item links and player class icon next to player names
- Icon-only options for newcomers chat
- Optional flashing or font color change for chat tabs when a new message comes in.
You can enable/disable all Prat modules - don't have to have the ones you don't use running
While trying to reduce resource utilization, it is also important to note that some people prefer the features, and don't care that an addon uses 500k more.

Posted Jun 22, 2014Loving this addon! But I'm wondering how to make it so that prat doesn't effect the chat tabs at all? I'm using ShestakUI, which skins the chat tabs, and even with all of prat's modules that effect the chat tabs disabled it leaves them as the default blizzard tabs.

Posted Jun 18, 2014Hey! First of all, great addon, can't even contemplate using the chat without it anymore. That being said, I do have one issue regarding Tab Hiding.
Basically I have 5 chat windows, including the default General and Combat Log ones. I have one window, labeled Private, hidden, the rest showing. However, in some alts the wrong window is hidden, one labeled Instance. The reason for this, afaik, is that the order of the windows in the tab section of the addon is different. It's always the 4th window that is unchecked, but the 4th window is different depending on the alt, and I can't understand why. Tried closing windows, see if that changes the order, but when I add it again it goes back to the previous position.
Any idea on how to fix this? Or what I'm doing wrong?

Posted Jun 15, 2014Thanks!
Not sure about history modules but I looked into addon's options and enabled the Chat Log module.
Now the up button works again :)
P.S.: I can't say for sure because I've enabled quite a few things!

Posted Jun 14, 2014Just checking, do you have history module enabled? Saved Command History checked and > 0?
I believe it is tied together. But I have been wrong before.

Posted Jun 10, 2014Hello. I love this addon! I've been using it for years.
Here's my question:
What happened to the up button's ability to automatically copy previous messages into the chat box?

Posted Jun 12, 2014You can install the addon WhoLib. Prat will use it to make /who queries for you to obtain level information.

I just begun having problems with edit box too its either gone or goes whit until I change a setting in prat but goes back to white every time i open chat
For anyone who have had problems with the edit box I found out if you disable color by chat channel everything works as normal again

Posted May 22, 2014Hey, recently moved over to Prat from another similar chat addon and I have to say it's magnificent! :)
All the strangers in General, trade etc. have class colors, but how come they don't show level unless I do a manual /who search on them?
Also noticed the the background on the edit box are often missing and I have to do a /reload to get it back.
Oh, and how do you get the role displayed, like in the recount screenshot?
Excellent addon, keep up the good work. :)

Posted May 17, 2014I'm having an issue with the pink whispers, When I try to move it to "Whisper Window" it creates the new window but I can't see the whispers.
It only happens with the pink whispers, with the "Real Id" whispers it properly works.

Posted May 14, 2014I'm having an issue with the editbox reseting to bottom mode after I log out and then back in. The setting in the addon still says top but the actual edit box appears on the bottom. This only started with the recent patch.

Posted May 14, 2014This has been happening ever since the last alpha build, but someone found a fix for it when I posted about it back in March:

Posted May 2, 2014Is there any way to force the level designator by the names of chatters to update more often than it does, particularly for guildmates? I just saw one of my guild members hit 80 while the indicator still said they were mid-60s

Posted May 2, 2014The addon can't detect that on it's own. You need to show it proof of a character's level for it to change. Targetting someone in the game world or a simple /who (you can shift-click names in chat for a quick /who) should suffice.

Posted Apr 23, 2014I noticed that Prat interferes with my reforging. When it's enabled I can only exchange Mastery for Spirit no matter what toon/spec I'm playing. Anyone else seeing this issue?
