HandyNotes

Handy Notes for your maps. This addon is intended to be a small and simple framework for showing notes on your map.

Use /handynotes to access options.

You can add notes to the maps in 3 ways:

Alt-RightClick on the world map to add a note.
Use "/hnnew" without the quotes to add a note at your current location.
Use "/hnnew x,y" without the quotes to add a note at location x,y on your current zone's map.

Is there going to be an update for this because there needs to be a 4.03 update with a new astrolabe because I think that is where the problem is coming from.

IF possible - How do i add my own icon/iconpack ? - provided i have those somewhere e.g as tga files in the interface/addon folder ?

Handynotes has a tendency to hang on to the icon of the last trainer/innkeeper/whatnot and places it right on top of my character arrow on the minimap (I use chinchilla). Is there a fix for this on the way?

The same for me, but not with the same addon, i use SexyMap, and icons take place on my arrow.

I've noticed that as well - it's ONLY on the minimap, if that helps. I had created a new marker for the Blasted Lands portal in the new Orgrimmar using /hnnew. Also, the minimap marker sits on the character arrow on all characters, not just the one that created the note.

is it possible, that HN ( v1.1.6 ) seems not to work anymore with Carbonite(4.013) together..

cant see anymore Silver Dragon (v2.4.1) Icons on the carbo map

Should note that with the introduction of the Hero's Call Board/Warchief Commands Board, the only time you should ever have to field that question is if they are being griefed and would like a shortcut without having to travel to another capital first or they are in Outland/Northrend.

Should also note that zones appear to all have their own story to tell which is substantially more linear than before so marking the starting point for the zone is a must :)

I sooo miss Cartographer's ability to show the MOB levels in zones when you mouseover the continent maps. Many many times guildies are asking, "Where do I quest next for my level?" With Handynotes, I was able to create notes on each zone that show the level of MOBs for that area ... AND ... it will let me show them on the continent map so I have almost all of the functionality back. Thanks Xinhuan!

I have been using MapNotes for YEARS but with 4.0.1 the mod finally gave out, so I installed HandyNotes. I enjoyed the mod and liked the interface, but something happened either while clearing the cache or during the mini-patch where I lost ALL of my re-done notes.

Any thoughts on what may have caused them all to disappear? Secondly (and more important), where are the notes backed up so I can always have a back-up file on hand so this (hopefully) never happens again? PS you make some of my favourite mods of all time!

I'm having a rather odd little problem with HandyNotes. Whenever I alt-click the map to add a note, it opens the HandyNotes dialog box BEHIND the map. I have to click M to close the map in order to see the HandyNotes window and enter the info, select the icon, etc.

Any ideas as to why this might be happening? The only other map-ish addon I'm using at the moment is MozzFullworldMap. I've also got TomTom and EveryQuest installed, which are also somewhat related to mapping and whatnot. I'll try disabling everything and see what happens.

Yeah, just a quick FYI followup. I disabled everything except HandyNotes and I'm still having the issue. The HandyNotes window opens up behing the map.

I sometimes get minimap icons showing up as HUGE when I login. The effect is inconsistent. I can get them to go back to their intended size by bringing up the /handynotes screen and toggling the activate checkbox.

Would be nice to make note creation window level higher from map in full screen mode.
+option to hide notes from minimap.
