What version of Grid2  are you using (Version is displayed in General/About Tab) ?

     3.3.22

What game client version, classic or retail, windows or mac and language are you using ?

     Retail

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Unfortunately i haven't been able to reliably reproduce seems to just happen randomly.

Did you try having Grid2 as the only enabled addon and everything else disabled?

No, has happened in the middle of keys.

Was it working in a previous version? If yes, which was the last good one?

    before the .5 patch.

Do you have an error log of what happened? If you don't see any errors, make sure that error reporting is enabled (`/console scriptErrors 1`) or install [BugSack](https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/BugSack).

not seeing any lua errors from grid2

Please provide any additional information below.

Sorry, but i can do little to fix this. Grid2 has zero control over private-auras behaviour, the game decides to display or hide them, not the addon.

Checks out. Yeah private auras in general are clearly messed up. Figured i'd report just in case.

I'm no longer able to see the voidspire buffs on grid2. The dispels on chimeria, and the dispels on aversian are both not showing. I've tried enabling "Display all debuffs" "Debuffs to show up on raid frames" and "Important debuffs flagged by blizzard" none worked, this might be related to private auras not working but I'm not sure.

  • michaelsp posted a comment Apr 22, 2026

Those dispells are private auras, so they cannot be displayed using any  debuff status filter, only in the private-auras indicator, that is a black box fully controlled by blizzard code.

The only thing that could affect the visibility of private-auras in grid2 is if the private-auras indicator is configured with a low frame-level (level option in settings) and is hidden behind another indicator like the health-bar configured with a higher frame level, or maybe an incorrect Load filter. But in those  cases the indicator should not be displayed at all for any player.

But there are reports of bugged mythic bosses and private auras not working correctly even in the stock UI with no addons.  So probably Blizzard probably must fix some game code, they fully changed the raid frames auras code in this patch, and it seems they did not test very well the new code.

In version 3.3.24 i added a new indicator that displays the blizzard  dispells overlay, like the  private-auras indicator, this is a zone controlled by the game where blizzard displays the same dispell overlay than default raid frames, so not much configuration is possible in this kind of indicator.

This overlay displays all dispellable debuffs  (including normal/non-private debuffs), and it is not possible to configure the indicator to display only the private-auras debuffs.

The private-aura-dispellable overlay is very helpful - although i wish for it to be optional/creatable as a seperate incidcator (icons perhaps?)

Would that be a big change?

  • michaelsp posted a comment Apr 26, 2026

Yes, so big change that it is not possible.

This is a blizzard indicator the same indicator displayed by blizzard default raid frames.

Blizzard code displays the overlay not grid2, and due to the new secrets system addons cannot customize/access the overlay rectangle painted by the game (only some limited settings can be configured, like the opacity and overlay direction).

In previous game version the standard private-auras-indicator was already displaying private-auras dispells as icons but blizzard decided to hide those icons in version 12.0.5.

Hello, I've also just noticed this on Mythic Belo'ren. I couldn't see Light Dive or Void Dive private auras most of the time, even though other private auras in the fight displayed just fine. Weirdly, I did see the private auras sometimes. In this example you can see the Light Dive PA on Bigshivers, but not the Void Dive on Ragnaroku:

Usually I couldn't see either one.

I was able to see the private auras consistently using Northern Sky's private aura displays. I don't know how this is possible.

I double-checked that my private auras were on a higher layer than anything that might hide them, and that indices 1 through 4 were being displayed.

This was with Grid2 3.3.24 on WoW version 12.0.5.67186.

You can try out version 3.3.29-beta. This versions implements a workaround to the private-auras not displayed.

This is a game bug, that can affect any raid frames addon  including the blizzard default frames.

In fact the game is displaying the private auras but behind the unit frames/health-bar.

Reloading the game can fix the issue for a while, but the bug can reappear as soon as  something in the raid changes (like people joining/leaving the raid, changing roles, etc).

Now the frame-level option in the private-auras settings is not used, because the bug is that the game is ignoring this setting, so to avoid the issue the private-auras are  painted now in a higher strata, above all the grid2 indicators/frames (that are configured in a lower strata).

Cool, that would explain why the NS overlay worked. I appreciate the quick update, thanks!
