I can't seem to figure out the best way to view debuffs anymore. Previously there was the ability to literally pick debuffs by dungeons to show, but obviously that functionality is gone.
However, it seems regardless of what I do I cant really find the best way to do debuffs without seeing basically every debuff in the game.
For example,
If I use 'Debuffs that I can dispel' it will typically show most of them - but it doesnt show the affix Xal'atath's bargain: devour. I think I can get it to show if I show all debuffs, but then i see things like Angel Cooldown or the debuff from dispelling (the bonus from) bargain.
Debuffs to show on Raid Frames, Debuffs that should be shown on nameplates, important debuffs flagged by blizzard and Debuffs from blizzard unit frames all seem to be a crap shoot, and im not sure what the best way to show debuffs actually is anymore? This could ultimately be a me thing (I have never shown EVERY debuff someone has at once, instead using a priority and a singular Center Icon + Border), so maybe thats the reason the showing all debuffs is more limiting for me than before? Do these settings actually do anything or is there a guide to them?
Also the default Dispellable by me seems to put a giant duration timer over the icons, but the setting in indicators for text doesnt seem to effect it (ie i cant get rid of the timer if i use that setting?)
Debuffs are secrets now , and addons can only display a set of filters decided by blizzard, the filters you see in the debuffs status settings.
The name/description of each filter in the settings is almost all documention blizzard provided even to addon developers.
The duration timer can be configured (or hidden) in the Icons indicator settings. In the "Cooldown Text" section select "None" for the "Text Location" option. If this does not hide the text, then maybe you installed some addon like TullaCTC that add texts to cooldown icons.
Any idea why i cant see the one from this week's affix (Devouring Rift)? Or what setting SHOULD show it? I only ask because I know for example Danders shows it, but none of the settings appear to show it except Show All. Is it just something that doesnt fit into any other viewable category from them?
I do have the cooldown text turned off, and it only shows on the default DispellableByMe, anything I create doesnt show it. I guess I have cooldowncount but i wouldnt think it does anything since it doesnt work in combat anymore
I appreciate your response btw.
Devouring rifts is a standard debuff, its not considered important by blizzard filters and it has no type.
It is not considered dispellable by the game because it has no type (its not a magic, curse, etc).
The filters displaying this debuff are :
* "Display all debuffs"
* "Typeless debuffs"
* "Debuffs From Blizzard Unit Frames"
I tested in M+ "display all debufs" and "Debuffs from blizzard unit frames" filters and both are displaying the debuff.
This debuff applies a big "heal absorb shield" on the players, so the debuff should be very visible in any grid2 default profile, that displays the absorb shield as a reverse pink bar over the the health bar. Very useful to remove the debuff using heals (because the dispel has a long cooldown).
About the countdown text: countdown texts are a property of the icon indicators, not statuses, so you should go to the "Indicators" section , verify all icon and icons indicators, and disable the countdown text on these indicators.
M+ devouring rift screenshot example, with the red heal absorbs bar, and no text cooldowns, i prefer to use small white/red bars to display debuffs remaining time. In this screenshot i was using the "Get debuffs from blizzard frames" filter.
Thanks so much for all that! I'll give it a go!
I don't think I was able to get my custom set up to have the absorb bars- I think I was able to get them on my priest for it's absorbs through some bar trick a long time ago, but I can't see these absorb shields like this in any content... I have had grid since wotlk and have continually updated it through the years but have never done much improvement...
(I was able to add ABSORB through multi-bar. Does Negative heal absorbs work the same - ie will it show negative heal absorbs if i have an absorb bar level set up or is its separate from the Shields Status?)
The game supports heal absorb shields, so no trick needed, in grid2 the status is called "heal-absorbs" and can be linked to any bar, multibar or text indicator to display the heal absorb amount.
Reverse bar is a property of the multibar indicator not the heal-aborbs status, in the multibar indicator settings for each single bar configured, there is a "Direction" option to choose the grow direction of each bar, in the case of horizontal bars: normal (bar grows to the right) or reverse (bar grows to the left).
Other players prefer to use a normal direction bar starting at the same point that health bar starts, for this case select a normal bar direction, and in the "Anchor to" option select "Frame Origin" instead of "Previous Bar".
This can be done too without a multibar indicator, creating a single bar indicator to display the heal-absorb bar.
Hi, first off, I want to say thank you for continuing Grid2, I've been using Grid since WotLK and Grid2 since it replaced it.. in Cata? Maybe it was MoP I can't quite remember... My grid profile is a polished work that's taken me years to get where I like it. Now I'm having a big problem, the first boss of mythic void spire does a couple debuffs. The settings I used for my debuffs in keys (Use blizzard frames debuffs) doesn't show them in raid, even doing the "show all debuffs" doesn't show them in raid. I double checked the debuff profile is applied to the relative indicator, but no matter what I did I couldn't get the debuff to show up. It's crucial as a healer to have it for dispels, I had to resort to using blizzards base frames, which are so horrible for atonement that on our 10 minute raid break I downloaded and configured "Dendy" frames which do show the debuff. I tried to match my grid settings but I just don't like it as much.Is this something that's a known issue, or some configuration issue on my side? If anyone knows how to fix it, that would be excellent. Happy to share my config file, or anything else that could be useful.
@duskfire7
i think those missing debuffs you seek are falling under the "private aura" category.
For that, you need to create a unique inidcator with the type "privateaura" (no statuses to attach) to have them displayed.
@ michaelsp
a big fat thanks from my side as well, i'm loyal to grid2 since i started in cata and i always recommend your addon to everyone i know.
3 Questions from my side:
For duskfire8 just confirming that you have to create a private-auras indicator.
Question 1:
I dont think even blizzard knows. Personaly Im using "Debuffs from blizzard unit frames", but this option is not official and blizzard could block this option at any time, and its more resource expensive.
Question 2:
Currently, Its not possible to avoid duplicated if several filters are linked to the same indicator.
Question 3:
The difference is that two teams on blizzard have different opinions about which debuffs should be displayed.
The UI team that works on the blizzard raid frames is displaying a set of debuffs, and another team that is coding the filters for addons is using a different debuffs list.
"Debuffs to show up on raid frames"
This is the official filter/way addons should use, but there are missing debuffs or non-important debuffs displayed, and addons can do little to customize the debuffs, some developer at blizzard decided which debuffs should be displayed in this filter.
"Debuffs from Blizzard Unit Frames"
This is the same debuffs displayed by the default blizzard raid frames: Grid2 is capturing the debuffs list from the Blizzard raid frames addon data structures, this is a trick, not official supported and could be blocked by blizzard in the future.
I added this non-official filter as last resort because the team in charge of creating the filters for addons don't care, they have no pressure from users/players to create a correct list of buffs or debuffs filters.
But the team in charge of blizzard raid frames have real players using the game raid frames, so they really are under pressure to do a better job, and to display at least a useful list of debuffs.
Finally blizzard blocked the "Debuffs from blizzard unit frames" in version 12.0.5, so in less than 2 weeks this filter is going to be removed.
@dasagoodlachs @michaelsp thank you so much for the responses, I had to sort of google what dropdown you meant, but I found it! thank you!
