I am attempting to recreate similar raid frames to be more heavily DPS/Tank focused

Notice on the left side of the stream, it is the raid frame. However, developer of shadowed unit frame addon has decided to step down so

I am struggling to recreate similar settings in your addon or other addons, is it possible to implement some customizations/options that'd allow 4 groups/20 players into one column?

You can replicate this layout and appearance almost exactly in grid2. You need to use the layout editor to create a custom layout:

1. Goto General / Layouts / Editor.

2. Create a new layout:

3. In the layout settings select: 1 column and 40 units per column.

4. You can customize other settings like ordering, grouping,  filters, etc.

5. Then you have to goto to General / Layouts / By Group Type

6. Select the new created layout for the desired groups types:  when solo, in group, in raid or arena.

You have another tabs there to select layouts depending of another conditions, like raid size or raid type (mythic, lfr, flex,etc).

To display unit bars instead of standard unit frames squares/rectangles, you have to customize the unit frame size in General > Appearance and customize the indicators in the Indicators list  (position,  size , textures, etc)
