What version of Grid2 are you using (Version is displayed in General/About Tab) ? Version 3.0.07
What game client version, classic or retail, windows or mac and language are you using ? Retail
Hello !! I have a question regarding relevant Buffs. How is it determined what is relevant or not . I am a holy paladin and I see things like Holy Bulwark tracked on other frames but can only see Beacon of Light and Eternal Frame on the Grid2 Frames.
Thank you !
In midnight addons cannot choose which buffs must be displayed so blizzard added some filters to get the buffs/debuffs, so addons asks the game: give me the relevant buffs, and the game decides what is relevant: returning a list of "relevant" buffs.
The issue is that blizzard has different rules for addons and for the blizzard raid frames, so game is displaying different buffs in the default blizzard raid frames.
To be honest, blizzard is using a more correctly list of buffs in the default raid frames, and its giving an erroneous list to the addons.
So the new trick some addon developers is using is to gather the buffs from the blizzard raid frames instead of asking directly to the game.
Im going to implement something similar as an optional feature, but i hate this kind of workaround because:
-Its more resource intensive, because now the game must run two raid frames at the same time
-Blizzard can fix/block the trick at any time, changing or hiding the internal data structures of blizzard raid frames .
-If everyone uses this trick/workaround blizzard will never fix the erroneos list of buffs the game is giving to the addons.
You can try 3.0.9 version, there are extra filters options in: Buffs->Relevant and Debuffs->Relevant
Now you can select "Buffs from Blizzard Unit Frames", "Defensive buff rom Blizzar Unit Fames" or "Debuffs from Blizzard unit Frames" to display the same buffs/debufs blizzard unit frames is displaying.
Awesome !! Will do - appreciate the quick reply <3
Sweet that did work. Thank you for including the Blizzard Raid Frame Option. Been using grid for so long, I do not want to give it up <3
Separate from this topic, Targeted Spells are back to being allowed. Will Banzai be brought back or another similar feature ?
As far as i know targeted spells is only working for your toon, and in the default blizzard UI. So we cannot detect targeted spells on another players in party/raid.
You must keep in mind that a lot of things blizzard is doing in his UI, are forbidden for addons, and we can only replicate similar behaviour using tricks/hacks, that blizzard can block/fix at any time.
Updated:
The targeted spells addon author added support for grid2 in latest releases.
On the topic of Relevant buffs, I noticed on the default blizzard raid frames that Rejuvenation (Germination) shows up, but not on grid2. Is this just blizzard being bad?
And on the contrary efflo shows up on grid 2 but not the blizzard raid frames.
The filters provided by the game to addons cannot replicate the blizzard unit frames behaviour, because the game is providing an incomplete, wrong, different? (call it what you want) list of relevant buffs to addons.
But you can select "Buffs from Blizzard Unit Frames" in the Grid2 relevants buffs filter configuration, this option will copy the buffs from the blizzard unit frames to the grid2 frames, displaying exactly the same buffs than blizzard unit frames. There is a similar option for debuffs.
But this is a trick/workaround that can be fixed by blizzard at any time, we dont know if this trick will last without being fixed by blizzard.
Hi since we don't have the ability to show dispellable debufffs on frames via WA's anymore is there an option in your settings? I noticed on the default frames for example in a 5 man dungeon when I can dispel poison nothing shows up on grid2 but they turn green on default frames. I'm going through all the settings and can't find anything.
EDIT nevermind I found some options, had to check off indicators
Ah, I was one release version behind so I didn't have that option yet. Thanks for the help!
